KEVIN TALLY Pouring Into the Profession

It comes shining through when you work with someone who takes pure pride in what they do. That’s the sensation clients get from working with Kevin Tally. As a REALTOR® with Allie Beth Allman & Associates, Kevin pours all of himself into the profession to benefit those around him.

14 • November 2020

Dallas Real Producers • 15

STEPS AHEAD Though in his thirteenth year in the business, Kevin brings a true wealth of experience to those who work with him. At the same time, he is just 30 years old, having started his adventure in real estate when he was just 18 years old. “Originally, I thought I was going to go to TCU or the University of Texas,” Kevin remembers. “I always liked real estate, and a lot of that began with my dad. He had a small construction business. Growing up, I always saw walls and sheetrock going up.” Kevin saw his path forward. “I didn’t necessarily want to work for my father or in construction, but I definitely love real estate,” Kevin explains. “I thought I could go spend $200,000 on a college degree, or I could get into the business that I know I love right away, and end up being ahead financially.” Kevin didn’t waste any time. “Halfway through my senior year, I got my license while I was still in high school, and then I just ran with it. It was crazy and difficult. But I worked hard, and I got after it,” Kevin says. “With my age at the time, I didn’t have friends buying houses. Also, I didn’t have connections through groups such as PTA or church groups.” FINDING HIS NICHE As Kevin brainstormed on areas to find business, an idea came to him. “I thought about expired and canceled listings,” he recalls. “I knew that these were people who had tried to sell and weren’t able to, so I placed my emphasis on that area.” 16 • November 2020

That focus continued and grew through time. “Expired and canceled listings ended up providing about 70 to 80 percent of my business. When I talked with people who had their listings expired or canceled, I convinced them that I was the go-to guy who would be able to help them.” Kevin continued that emphasis through his first five years in the business. In the process, he recorded an impressive annual average of 50 closings.

IMMERSING HIMSELF. KNOWING HIS COMMUNITY. In time, Kevin got engaged and married. “Family is very important to me, and I always wanted to be a young father. I was doing all my own paperwork, and I had no assistant,” he remembers. “I knew I couldn’t keep that pace and have the time I needed to pour into my family, as well.” @realproducers

It wasn’t long before Kevin’s growth in the business led him to a strong focus on and expertise in the luxury market. His creativity and drive make a real difference. “I’m into the hunt. I’m a go-getter, hunting and seeking new business,” he points out. “I’m very intentional. I’m a detective. For example, when I see a house being built, I know there’s a good

realproducersmag.com

chance that person who is building also has a house they may need to sell, so I will market to them.” Kevin also takes a fully immersive experience in gaining knowledge. “I’m a big proponent of knowing everything I can about my area. I’m in the car an hour or two each day

driving up and down streets, and I’ll write down an address that interests me and will use that information down the road, whether it’s the next day or five years down the road … things like who’s building, what is being constructed, and what it looks like. Those things allow you to close the deal,” Keven explains. “I also study the MLS for the same reasons.

Dallas Real Producers • 17

I want to know what sold, what it sold for, and what it looks like. I look back over several years to look at trends and use that information as I’m talking with clients. It’s those conversations that help me secure my business. I don’t know when those things are going to come in handy. I love those conversations.” WHAT MATTERS MOST Family is at the center of Kevin’s world, including his wife of five years, Shelby, and their children — a 4-year-old daughter, Kenna, and a 2-year-old son, Jett. In his free time, Kevin loves spending time on the golf course when he can, along with exercise. He also likes to give his children a ride around their subdivision in a golf cart he bought for the purpose.

18 • November 2020

As he says, “I just really like spending a lot of time with my wife and kids and enjoying their activities.” Those who work with Kevin know they can count on him to be there for them—and to be there with the straight deal. “The way I work is, I will tell you 100 percent what I believe at all times. That includes letting my client know about what I know about any resale issues that may exist. For example, if a property is the only three-bedroom home in a four-bedroom neighborhood, I’m going to point that out,” he

emphasizes. “I want longevity. I don’t want a sale today and then have someone go to sell their home five years down the road and come up against issues I should have told them about.” That kind of forethought and care is powerful. Each day, it’s the kind of approach that helps dreams come true in the long-run. As Kevin says, “I truly pour my heart into my clients and give them absolutely everything I can.”

If one person can make a difference for those they serve, then two people aligned with complementary skills can achieve remarkable results. That’s the reality for Brianna Castillo and Keelie Luttrell. As REALTORS® with RE/MAX DFW Associates, Brianna and Keelie work together as a dream team that helps their clients achieve their goals. First Steps

Brianna was the first of the two to enter real estate five years ago. “I had a cousin who recruited me into real estate in Minnesota. She recruited me to work with her there and to form a team,” she remembers. “So, at that point, my husband, Oscar, and I moved to Minnesota in 2016.” In time, Brianna and Oscar moved back to Dallas, where Brianna continued to grow her real estate business. It wasn’t long before she met Keelie in 2018. “My husband and I had lived in California, but when we moved back to Dallas, Brianna was our agent when we bought our house here,” Keelie says. “I had been in sales for Coca-Cola and I was ready to do something more entrepreneurial that would give me an opportunity to help more people. I prayed about that.” Some things are meant to be. And the partnership between the two ladies definitely seems to fit that. “Brianna and I had been trying to get together socially, and she was looking for someone to partner with, and it was an answer to my prayers,” Keelie says. “It was two and a half years ago that we had that conversation, and I got licensed right away.”

Brianna Castillo

“

TOGETHER we’re able to be

The Right Time

It was also a match that came out of necessity. “I was working in real estate on my own and it was a lot, especially as you first get going in the business,” Brianna recalls. “I needed help.” From the start, the two have found a rewarding business partnership. “In Keelie, I have found a partner who has incredible strength that complements my own strengths,” Brianna says. “Together we’re able to be so much more excellent.”

Keelie says communication has been one of their most important strengths. “We work really hard on that. It is so rewarding and we value transparency,” Keelie says. “We work through things and celebrate together and we are each other’s biggest cheerleaders. When one of us wins, we both win. We are very quick to take action together.” Energized Efforts

The passion Brianna and Keelie bring to their profession is energizing. “Being in real estate is an opportunity to serve people in an industry that @realproducers

Delivering a Difference

“

Keelie Luttrell

so much more EXCELLENT. is so needed. We are both excited about being able to serve people with excellence,” Brianna says. “At the end of the day, we want people to say that they are better off because they worked with us.” As Keelie says, it’s a pleasure to provide a steady influence. “There is so much uncertainty and it’s an honor to be able to walk with them during a very stressful time,” Keelie explains. “We get to know them very well during what can be a very stressful time in their lives.” realproducersmag.com

The results of their work are impressive. In fact, in 2020, they’ve recorded $18 million in sales volume, representing 54 units. “The effect of us working together is very similar to the Bible and the way it talks about how a cord is made up of three strands,” Brianna says. “God has been part of our business and the way we make it a point to work with integrity and care for our clients. If you don’t have genuine care, I don’t think you’ll be as successful in this business.”

As Keelie says, their marketing efforts center on two primary components — marketing homes and communicating their brand. “We really go above and beyond and do some advanced digital marketing,” Keelie explains. “And our focus is on serving our clients and the general public. In fact, we have a podcast called Where We Live on Podcast.com, and a YouTube channel. We also have blog posts and email marketing. As part of that, we provide resourceful information to help people make the best of the home they’re in.” Away from work, Brianna and Keelie are grounded with their love for family. Brianna and Oscar have two toddlers — Grace, who is almost 3 years old, and Eva, who is almost 2 years old. In their free time, they cherish time with their kids. They also have a love of golf. Keelie and her husband, David, love to travel. In fact, it’s a true passion, with the couple having visited 30 countries. They also enjoy time spent together exploring local restaurants. Brianna, Keelie, and their families are members of Watermark Community Church. They also have the drive to support their community. With each sale they make, Brianna and Keelie donate a portion to Children’s Miracle Network. As they consider their work, they have gratitude for the opportunity to carry it out together — to the best of their ability. As Keelie says, “We love doing our jobs with excellence, and in an approachable and empathetic way, and to be top-notch in every part of the process that we touch.” That’s why, for those they serve, Brianna and Keelie are undoubtedly a dream team. The qualities that draw clients to Sara are the same ones that first drew her to join the team at Willow Bend Mortgage.

“I like the overall culture and leadership here. They really strive to make sure everyone is connected with open communication. You don’t get swallowed up like in a big company. The president of our company is very big about maintaining an open-door policy to hear about issues or ideas,” Sara explains. “They are very family-oriented and they make sure that everyone is happy and has a good work/life balance. They really want loan officers to succeed and they give us a lot of support. Everyone’s voice is heard, and you feel important and heard. If you need something, there’s always someone to call.” Sara was strongly drawn to the local presence that Willow Bend Mortgage builds on each day. It’s one she takes pride in building on. As she says, “One of my favorite parts of what I do is helping homebuyers achieve the goal of getting a home, whether it’s their first, or their vacation home or investment property, whatever the case may be. Being able to help a client. That pure joy. There’s no better feeling.” Driven to Serve

Sara also has the drive to support her REALTOR® partners. “For me, it’s about working with agents to help them grow their business and supporting them in their efforts with their clients,” she says. “The agents are the backbone of what I do. Without them, I’m nothing. With younger agents, I enjoy helping them grow and seeing them become top producers. It’s like a family helping each other as our businesses grow.” Teamwork extends in all directions. “We really are like one big team. In order for us to successfully get to the closing table, there are so many people involved, including processors, underwriters, closers, title agents, and more,” Sara emphasizes. “Having everyone come together makes such a big difference.” In addition to solving issues for clients, Sara brings that same spirit to work with her REALTOR® partners. “One of the biggest things I always want to emphasize for agents is that, once a borrower is under contract, they should not have to stress or worry about it,” she says. “I take that file all the way through to the closing table, and I keep agents up to date so they can move on with generating business, knowing that we have their back and that we have it under control. We want to give them the opportunity to continue to generate more business.” Life’s Highlights

I TREAT EVERY DEAL AS IF IT’S ONE FOR MY MOM ...I WANT THEM TO KNOW I’M THERE, ON THEIR SIDE, AND THAT I AM JUST AS INVESTED IN THAT TRANSACTION AS THEY ARE.

Away from work, Sara treasures time with her family, including her husband, Joe, and their dog, Perry. In her free time, Sara is a big Formula 1 racing fan. Through time, she has involved in a variety of hobbies and is finishing her business degree. As she says, “With the pandemic, I spend a lot more time with my family and we love to connect. We play games and spend time doing the yard and working on the house. We enjoy that.” Sara and Joe have recently become big skiing enthusiasts and enjoy time spent on the slopes together. Sara got into the mortgage business when she was young. After starting as an assistant, she worked her way up as a call center loan officer. “In time, I took a leap of faith and came into the retail space and I worked hard to keep moving forward,” she says. “That’s the same advice I give others starting out. There is a way to figure it out. Never give up, even if you’ve had a couple of tough months. Keep your head down and go out and do everything you can to be the best at what you do every time. Eventually, that tenacity and work to be consistent every day does pay off.” Sara continues to build on her longstanding reputation for helping people throughout the region achieve results — and their dreams. As she reflects on her career and the profession she loves, Sara takes a personal interest in each deal she has the opportunity to be part of. “I treat every deal as if it’s one for my mom in the transaction,” she says. “I want them to know I’m there, on their side, and that I am just as invested in that transaction as they are.” For more information, contact Sara Parker Jones at Willow Bend Mortgage today!
