NEW BEGINNINGS publisher’s note

I am a big fan of this time of year! Hope and promise are in the air. It is the time of new beginnings. Spring is right around the corner, which means…so is summertime. Growing up in Minnesota, this change from below-zero to snow melting to 80-degree weather was a glorious time. Winter seemed to drag on forever, and when that snow started to disappear and it became mid-30s, the t-shirts came out… along with pure joy. It felt as if life had been paused, and now it was starting to resume!

As I write this publisher’s note, it is a couple days after my 31st birthday, which marks exactly three years from when I moved from Thief River Falls, Minnesota to Frisco, Texas! Talk about new beginnings. This was hands down the boldest decision I had made in my life. But, as it turns out, moving to Dallas where I didn’t know a single person also became one of the absolute best decisions I have ever made. I love all things new. I love change. I love possibility. It absolutely energizes me! Another reason why I love this time of year is because we get to congratulate the Top 500 Agents in the market for earning their spot on our Real Producers list. We often see about 60-70% of the agents remaining on the list from the previous year, but that also means we have 30-40% NEW agents, making the list for their first time. Exciting! Rachelle and I are so excited for 2021 and to continue

8 • March 2021

to grow our Real Producers Community! Our team has been working so hard to provide as much value to our agents and partners as we possibly can. We have met many of you and love hearing your stories. To those we haven’t met yet, we look forward to meeting you soon and getting to know you and how you cultivated success. Before I go, get your calendars and mark down the dates of our next Real Producers events! Our Dallas Real Producers event will be March 25th from 4-6pm and our North DFW Real Producers event will be April 1st from 4-6pm. Agents, feel free to go to either event, or if you want to go to both, that is great too! We thank you so much for your love and support! Enjoy this time of new beginnings. See you soon! Connecting Possibilities One of the marks of success is the ability to build bridges between people and their destiny. Bobbie Jo Glover enjoys playing that role. As a REALTOR® with Compass East Dallas, Bobbie Jo takes great pride in connecting people with possibilities through her work each day. “When I think about the work I get to do daily, the part that’s the most rewarding for me is about the people I get to work with, including other agents here at Compass and my clients,” Bobbie Jo explains. “I enjoy building a sense of community with the people I get to work with and help.”

Making Her Move Here

Bobbie Jo was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. In many ways, she seemed to have a head start in the business, thanks to her family. “My dad is in development, and I have other family members who are involved in real estate, so I was always exposed to the business very much,” Bobbie Jo remembers. As she came of age, Bobbie Jo majored in Public Relations at Pepperdine and moved to Dallas to pursue her MBA. “In the process, one of the courses I took was a class about real estate investing,” she says. “I fell in love with real estate, and two months later, I got my license.” She didn’t just hold onto her license. Instead, she dove in and started putting it to active use. The results started coming right away.

“I already had a listing and a buyer before I graduated from school,” Bobbie Jo remembers. Gaining Ground

Bobbie Jo found her new career challenging at first. “It was definitely difficult to get things started, but I kept going,” she recalls. “My brokerage at the time had incredible training. It pushed me to do the activities we were learning about, including creating a database. I had just moved here two years before jumping into real estate, so it was definitely a learning experience.” That was seven years ago. Since then, Bobbie Jo has been on a definite upward trajectory. In fact, as a licensed REALTOR® in both Utah and Texas, Bobbie Jo amassed over $20 million in sales volume in 2020. Fulfilling Life

Family is at the heart of Bobbie Jo’s life, including her husband, Casey, who also recently earned his real estate license. In their free time, Bobbie Jo and Casey love spending time with their dog. They also have a passion for time with their 12-year-old golden retriever, Bentley. “I had gone to college at Pepperdine because of their international program,” she says. “One year, I studied abroad in Florence. I’ve always loved going to new places and learning more about new cultures.”

Bobbie Jo and her family also are proud supporters of Autism Speaks, a group the supports those who are impacted by the condition. “I have two nephews who are autistic. Autism is so prevalent today, and Autism Speaks is a wonderful organization,” Bobbie Jo says. Positive Influence

When you talk with Bobbie Jo, it’s clear that she is someone who is, by nature, a very positive person. At the same time, Bobbie Jo realizes the power of finding solutions to issues. “It feels so good to be part of the team here at the Summit Group,” Bobbie Jo explains. “I’m part of a team here at the Summit Group. They truly are my family here, since my family is out of state.” Today, Bobbie Jo continues to build on her record of achievement. And word is spreading. “It feels good to be able to say that I work solely by referral,” she says. One of the things that Bobbie Jo does to cultivate that is a variety of client appreciation events. “We had socially distanced events during 2020. The sense of community is so important with my clients,” Bobbie Jo says with a smile. “It’s fun to see them get together and interact with each other and build relationships with each other that hold promise for them.” Congratulations to this month’s Rising Star, Bobbie Jo Glover. Day-by-day, she is giving her all. In turn, she’s connecting possibilities for those around her.

Nations Home

WARRANTY partner spotlight

Written by: Dave Danielson Photos by: URSPECIALS

In a world of uncertainty, a lot can happen. That clearly extends to a home and its moving parts, which is why it means so much when you have a partner who comes alongside you to take some of the stress and worry out of the whole equation. Regional Managers Christine Crawley (Rockwall/Garland), Tawn Gray (Tarrant Co.), Jamie Flynn (Collin Co.), and Vice President, Real Estate Sales Julie Jones

22 • March 2021

@realproducers

Protection Your Clients Count On That’s where Nations Home Warranty comes into the picture — with protection your clients can count on. LOCAL RESOURCE

Julie Jones is Vice President of Sales at Nations Home Warranty. The pride she feels in being able to be a local source of comfort for you and your clients comes through loud and clear. “One of the things we’re very proud of that sets us apart in the industry is we are local,” Julie emphasizes. “We got our start in 1996 with our President and Founder, Sharon Harrison.”

realproducersmag.com

Nations Home Warranty is completely managed by women throughout the organization, including the organization’s call center and sales team. “This is a great place to be part of. It’s a very family-oriented place to be part of,” Julie explains. “I absolutely, 100-percent love the relationships that we have here.” TEAM SPIRIT

Getting to do what you love means a lot. And enjoying the ability to do that with people you have a bond with means the world. “Every day, I get to create, develop, and explore relationships with the people I work with, including my REALTOR® friends, and my affiliate friends in the title and mortgage sides of the business,” Julie smiles. “That family feeling really extends throughout that circle of people, and it’s been that way since I started here 12 years ago.” Julie is proud of the team of professionals she works with each day who help to extend the benefits of what Nations Home Warranty provides to homeowners throughout the area. That effort is spearheaded by Regional Sales Managers Jamie Flynn, Christine Crawley, and Tawn Gray. Jamie has been part of the team for the past two years. “The part that I enjoy the most about what I do is helping our clients,” Jamie explains. “My hope is that the people who work with us come away feeling that we were friendly and efficient to work with and that we delivered a valuable service for them.”

Dallas Real Producers • 23

Christine got her start with the company on April 1, 2020. “It was about the same time that shelter-in-place began during the pandemic. I’m so blessed to have had constant support and encouragement during that time. We are each other’s cheerleaders, and our support for each other is never-ending. I love that when I call my team they always answer and are eager to help in any way they can,” she says. “I really enjoy the relationships I gain by connecting with real estate professionals and their clients. I love making friends and am very much a people person. I live to help others as much as possible.” Tawn is the newest addition to the Nations Home Warranty team, having joined late last year. “I absolutely love meeting new people, meeting new challenges head-on, and feeling a great sense of accomplishment at the end of the day. The women/ teammates that I work with are all very professional, helpful, kind, and giving. They are quick to offer guidance, solutions, and ideas. They are always available to me when I need assistance, and they all have kind smiles and huge servants’ hearts. This makes being a part of this great company so rewarding,” Tawn explains. “We’re all working together for one common goal — to be the best Home Warranty Company out there that truly cares about its customers.” STRONG COMMUNITY ROOTS

The roots Julie has in the Dallas area run deep and strong. In fact,

24 • March 2021

@realproducers

she is a fifth-generation resident of University Park. “My great-great-grandparents came here with the railroad when the town was just getting started, and we’ve been here ever since,” she says. While many in the industry discover their love for real estate after taking other paths, Julie got a very early start. “I got my start in the industry as a summer job out of high school. I delivered surveys to title companies that summer, and I’ve never looked back,” Julie recalls. “I worked my way through the title side of the business, and then worked for 20plus years as a loan officer in the mortgage business.” Through time — and her relationships — Julie discovered the rewarding place she’s in now at Nations Home Warranty. “Through time, I had been involved with the Women’s Council of REALTORS® Dallas chapter. That’s how I met Sharon Harrison. We got to know each other that way. I remember she contacted me one Friday and said she was looking for a sales representative and asked if I knew anyone. I couldn’t respond fast enough,” she laughs. Her success in making a tangible difference in the lives of homeowners is boosted by the satisfaction Julie feels all the way around. “For me, success is being able to create and hone a career and craft a life that is very well-balanced. I love the balance,” she points out. “I feel very comfortable in the role we play and the interactions I get to have each day. I really enjoy being out in the community with people.”

EXCELLENCE THROUGH EDUCATION

Part of that rewarding feeling is about the natural gift Julie has for education. “That’s really a passion for me. One of my favorite aspects of what I do is being able to be that trusted part of my referral partners’ team. I’m here to support them and let them know they’re not in this alone,” Julie explains. “So when it comes to discussing the particulars of what we do at Nations Home Warranty with their clients, I can talk with their clients to make sure that they have a full understanding and set of expectations around our product.” In her time away from work, Julie has a wide range of interests, beginning with spending time with her son, Jeff, her daughter-in-law, Lauren, and her three puppies—Sophie, Hailey, and Jasie. Julie also loves being active outside, along with reading and anything music-related. The experience and expertise Julie has built through her career are impressive. And the way she puts it to work for others is admirable. “I’m really at my best when I’m advocating for someone else,” she smiles. “I love when a new affiliate comes up and says, ‘My boss said I needed to come talk to you.’ That comes back to the fact that I love helping people with education. I remember when I was the new person in the room at one point, and I like being there to help others who are in that position … to be a resource for them.” Each day, Julie Jones and the Nations Home Warranty team bring home real peace of mind by building relationships, educating people, and being there when it matters the most. MOVING QUICKLY WITH PURPOSE In order to effectively make things happen each day, everyone has a distinct approach and style. One of those individuals is Rogers Healy, who moves at an extraordinarily fast pace all his own. As Owner/CEO of Rogers Healy and Associates Real Estate, Rogers moves at lightning speed day-in-and-day-out. But it’s not action for action’s sake that drives him. He makes all of his efforts count, moving with purpose and determination along the way. You could even say Rogers defines intentionality. “The pace I move at is uniquely fast,” Rogers smiles. “I am very passionate about what I do, and I like doing everything I take on at 100 percent. In life, you’re either all in, or all out, and I’m an all-in kind of guy.” WHAT MATTERS MOST

For all of the honors, accolades, and attention, Rogers’ true sense of success begins at home, with his wife, Abby. Rogers attributes his excitement and purpose in both work and life to his beloved wife. The two are newlyweds, having married just a few months ago. “I love Jesus and my family, in that order,” Rogers smiles. “Thankfully, I’ve met my person that keeps up with me and keeps me grounded. She also lives with a desire to be great, so you can say our household has iron sharpening iron.”

Abby remembers the time when Rogers came up and introduced himself to her while she was having dinner with her mother in a restaurant. As Abby says, “He’s just as bold as you’d imagine. After asking my mom if he could talk to her daughter, he was firing off a million questions, and thankfully I kept up! I could see his excitement in his smile, and it still is contagious.” After a few years, she and Rogers reconnected, and their relationship has grown. As she says, “We are so lucky with the timing of things. It’s such a blessing to start a new life together. We laugh nonstop, and we both appreciate the value of hard work, so we make a great team.” Abby admires Rogers and the strong bonds he builds and the value he places on those who surround him. “It is inspiring to watch him. Rogers cares so much about people. All people. He literally says hello to every single person he sees, and the special part is that he actually wants to know how they’re doing. He continues to be so present and involved with every single person on his team and in his life. He’s the kind of guy who drops everything to help,” Abby explains. “He is so present, involved, and passionate about the RHA brand and making sure everyone on his team is as successful as they can possibly be.” ROGERS “THE MUSIC MAN”

Music is a very large part of Rogers’ be-

ing. In fact, Rogers will even say that his life has a “soundtrack always playing.” Despite his often intensely busy schedule, Rogers finds time to put on a favorite record with his wife, three dogs, and an open heart to simply relax. His obsession for music runs deep. The couple enjoys weekly visits to Josey Records, their favorite record store in Dallas. Weekly outings to Josey Records constitute as some of the best date days for the newlyweds. It’s their date night, and they’ve found a way to fall in love with music together. Josey Records is their country club, if you will. Rogers also encourages music in the office as he firmly believes it stimulates creative thinking, inspires positivity, and soothes the soul. Rogers has an eclectic taste in music ranging from classic rock to rap – which he can actually freestyle. Yes, seriously. “I would be a great ‘lifeline’ for music on Who Wants to be a Millionaire,” Rogers smiles. “Music is the greatest gift that one can receive. I can’t play, sing, or write music, but I collect music memorabilia. Music heals, music bonds, and music is the one thing that we can all agree on.” In fact, Rogers has been collecting music-related items since he was just four-years-old and his extensive collection is impressive. Music for Rogers is much more than a hobby. Instead, it is a passion and a way of life. His collection … ranging from

handwritten lyrics to some of the most popular songs of all time, to drumsticks Don Henley (his favorite musician) used in concert … it’s known to be one of the top collections in the world. GETTING HIS START

Rogers earned his real estate license 20 years ago. Before that, he picked up a variety of experiences and failures that have served him well in his work today. “I feel like I had tried a lot of different paths, including wanting to become an actor, being a sandwich artist, waiting tables, and working for musicians,” Rogers says. “Along the way, I never really had any connection to real estate. In fact, I’m the first person in my family to ever work in the real estate industry.” As a college student at SMU, Rogers realized he had a knack and love for people and networking. “In some ways, I felt like I was a guide or a Sherpa for the SMU campus,” Rogers smiles. “I had lived in three or four neighborhoods around the campus. I enjoyed helping people find different places to live around there, because I knew the city. I never felt like a leader until I discovered my love for real estate in college.” He was about to take another step closer to the industry. “When it came time for me to move out of the fraternity house, I found a rental home for my friends and me to move into,” he says. “In the process, I found a REALTOR® who helped us with the lease. I asked him how much he got paid for it. Pretty darn ignorant, but as they say, ‘ignorance is bliss,’ which played to my favor.”

34 • March 2021

Rogers got his answer from the REALTOR®. In turn, he knew what his next steps had to be. He earned his license in real estate. It only took Rogers a record-breaking 22 times to pass his test, which taught him resiliency along the way. “I feel like I fell into this business, and pretty much from minute one, I started questioning whether this was something I was really called to do,” Rogers remembers. “I had the opportunity to work for some very good, prestigious firms, but I just wasn’t feeling at home. It was bizarre to me that no one noticed me until I became a top producer. I wanted to be invested in, because someone saw something special in me.” CRUCIAL CONVERSATION

During that time of uncertainty, Rogers had a crucial conversation. “I felt like, at that time, I was having a burnout experience as a REALTOR®. I think that happens for a lot of us in the business, when there’s so much coming at you at one time, and you have a moment where you say, ‘What am I doing with my life?’”

Rogers had been working tirelessly and was exhausted. He received a call from his friend, Tony Romo, who asked him if he was interested in skiing. Rogers decided to get away and go. “As I was sitting on the ski-lift with Tony, I was saying that I loved what I was doing, but not necessarily where I was working, and who I was surrounded by. Within a second, that’s when Tony looked at me and said, ‘Why don’t you open up your own real estate company?’” There was power in that statement, especially in that moment. Rogers let it soak in. Soon that would become his direction, and he started his own real estate company. That was 15 years ago. “For the first time, I really committed to something and got great at it,” Rogers explains. “I didn’t look or act like a typical REALTOR®. I tried to work harder with longer hours. I wanted to be available 24/7 and never let my phone ring more than twice, and it evolved from there,” he says. “I didn’t take vacations or have a relationship. In essence, I got married to real estate when I was 20-something. I never stopped and that led

to a lot of opportunities. By finding my way and growing in the business, I learned a lot.” JOURNEY OF DISCOVERY

The learning continues. Part of that journey of discovery for Rogers has been the impact that can be made on the lives of other people. “What gets me excited and brings me joy is watching people evolve and how real estate can be a vehicle for people to find something special within themselves,” Rogers emphasizes. “I think it’s hard in the normal REALTOR® day-today, and if you’ve done it for ten years, you’ve seen it all. There are no more first times. I shifted with extreme intention about four years ago. I didn’t have a wife or children, and I wanted to grow people instead of growing a company. In my professional career, that was the single best thing I’ve ever done.” The results of Rogers’ work have been astounding, and 2020 set the bar at a new level for the firm that has become the largest independently owned real estate firm according to the Dallas Business Journal. “During the year, we grew our company by 51 percent, tripled our staff, and increased our production by 40 percent. Not bad for a tall, goofy guy that’s always stayed true to his roots,” Rogers points out.

Whether it’s the belief in realizing lifelong dreams of homeownership, or supporting a team member’s growth in real estate, Rogers definitely has a love for boosting self-esteem in others. “Like Picasso said, there are two most important days in your life … the day you were born and the day you found out why,” he says. “My gift is helping others find their gift. Instead of having a company with 5,000 agents,

I want to have a company with people who want to change the world. I don’t want to look back on my life and say: ‘I wish I would have done something different.’ My legacy in the world of business is not a real estate guy that brokered deals, it’s a guy that brokered confidence, impact, and love.” Truly, Rogers Healy helps others by moving with purpose toward their goals.

HELPING OTHERS FIND THEIR GIFTS

As he considers the career he has come to love, Rogers remembers a conversation he had with his friend and book publisher, Jan Miller. “Within a couple minutes of talking with her, she provided me with a frozen moment in time. She said, ‘I’m going to ask you a question, and without hesitation I need your answer … what’s your superpower? And I said, ‘Helping people find confidence in themselves.’” 36 • March 2021

FAQs ABOUT THIS MAGAZINE Real Producers magazine started in Indianapolis in 2015 and is now in over 100 markets across the nation and spreading rapidly. Dallas Real Producers launched in May of 2019. Name a large city and we are there or will be soon! In every market, we take the Top 500 agents, based off of the MLS production, and we build an exclusive magazine around those agents. We share their stories, successes, market trends, upcoming events — really, anything that will connect, inform and inspire, we put in the monthly publication. We strive to inform and inspire the top producing real estate agents in the local market and connect them socially. The secondary focus is to provide an avenue for our affiliate partners to create relationships with these top performers on a level that they might not be able to achieve on their own. Q: WHO RECEIVES DALLAS REAL PRODUCERS MAGAZINE? A: The top 500 agents South of 635 in Dallas County as well as Rockwall County. Approximately 20,000 agents are licensed in this territory. We cut the list off at #500, and the distribution was born. The 2020 Top 500 cutoff is $8.2 million. The list will reset at the end of every year and will continue to update annually. Q: WHAT ABOUT THE NORTH DFW AND FORT WORTH TERRITORIES? A: North DFW Real Producers launched in August of 2018 for the agents who are North of 635 (North tip of Dallas County, Collin County, and Denton County). Tarrant Real Producers launched March of 2021! Yes, Real Producers is covering the entire Metroplex! Q: WHAT IS THE PROCESS FOR BEING FEATURED IN THIS MAGAZINE? A: It’s really simple — every feature you see has first been nominated. You can nominate other REALTORS®, affiliates, brokers, owners, or even yourself! Office leaders can also nominate REALTORS®. We will realproducersmag.com

consider anyone brought to our attention who is in the Top 500 because we don’t know everyone’s story, so we need your help to learn about them. A nomination currently looks like this: You email us at jordan.espeseth@realproducersmag.com with the subject line, “Nomination: (Name of Nominee).” Please explain why you are nominating them to be featured. It could be they have an amazing story that needs to be told — perhaps they overcame extreme obstacles, they are an exceptional leader, have the best customer service, or they give back to the community in a big way, etc. The next step is an interview with us to ensure it’s a good fit. If it all works out, then we put the wheels in motion for our writer to conduct an interview to write the article and for our photographers to schedule a photoshoot. Q: WHAT DOES IT COST A REALTOR®/TEAM TO BE FEATURED? A: Zero, zilch, zippo, nada, nil. It costs nothing, my friends, so nominate away! We are not a pay-to-play model. We share real stories of real producers. Q: WHO ARE THE PREFERRED PARTNERS? A: Anyone listed as a “preferred partner” in the front of the magazine is a part of this community. They will have an ad in every issue of the magazine, attend our quarterly events, and be a part of our online community. We don’t just find these businesses off the street, nor do we work with all businesses that approach us. One of many of the top agents has recommended every single preferred partner you see in this publication. We won’t even meet with a business that has not been vetted by one of you and “stamped for approval,” in a sense. Our goal is to create a powerhouse network, not only for the best REALTORS® in the area but the best affiliates, as well, so we can grow stronger together. Q: HOW CAN I RECOMMEND A PREFERRED PARTNER? A: If you know and want to recommend a local business that works with top REALTORS®, please email us to let us know at jordan.espeseth@realproducersmag.com. Dallas Real Producers • 39
