DALLAS REAL PRODUCERS:

There’s a

NEW

SHERIFF in Town! publisher’s note

H

ello, Dallas Real Producers! My name is Jordan Espeseth and I have some exciting announcements that I have been waiting patiently to tell you! As we all know, 2020 was a crazy year filled with a ton of changes…and the same is true for myself and Real Producers.

12 • January 2021

Many of you know that I am the owner of North DFW Real Producers, and you may be wondering “Why is Jordan writing the Publisher’s Note for Dallas Real Producers?” Well, that is because as of January 2021 I am now also the new owner, or “sheriff,” of Dallas Real Producers, and I could not be more excited! My team and I are going to bring lots of changes and new life to Dallas Real Producers. But in order to do that effectively, I knew I had to duplicate myself. And since science hasn’t perfected the cloning process yet, I decided to do something even better. I searched for someone who could bring new energy, ideas, and a creative change to Real Producers here in DFW. And guess what? I found that someone and she is amazing. Her name is Rachelle Marie and she will be our assistant publisher for both North DFW and Dallas Real Producers. If you haven’t met her yet, you are in for a treat! We could not be more excited and grateful to have her join our team. You will be seeing a lot of her from here on out! Rachelle and I both very much look forward to connecting with and growing with you all in the months and years to come. Cheers to new beginnings! Curt Paige DOWN-TO-EARTH DYNAMIC In a world where attention is often given to form over function, it’s refreshing when you see good, old-fashioned service and a spirit of true service at work for others. That’s what the people who work with Curt and Paige Elliott experience. Together, Curt and Paige deliver a genuine, down-to-earth dynamic with Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate as leaders of the Elliott & Elliott Real Estate Group. Paige and Curt originally hail from the Northeast, with Curt growing up in Pennsylvania and graduating from Penn State University, and Paige hailing from Connecticut and graduating from the University of North Texas. Getting Their Start Together

The two met when they both worked in the corporate retail world.

Paige remembers how their adventure with real estate first got underway. “We both got interested in real estate through the process of searching for our first home,” Paige says. “During the process of buying, our REALTOR® worked with us for a year. During that time, we gained income in our job, and we jumped into a different price range. That process is what spurred us on to have an interest in real estate. As a result of having that experience, we have good patience with first-time homebuyers.”

Paige earned her real estate license 23 years ago. Ten years later, Curt joined his wife in the business. Along the way, they’ve built a very successful career in real estate by drawing on skills they honed in their previous careers. As Curt says, “We come from the corporate retail world, which is very customer service driven, and that’s something we place a lot of emphasis on for our clients and other agents.” “One thing that we do that may sound basic is we call people back. Plus, we are driven by what the customer wants. We are always available,” Paige says. “We try to make the transaction a win for everyone involved, including other agents, clients and lenders. We will do whatever it takes to get the deal done.” Serving from Experience

Another experience Curt and Paige draw on is the process they went through in moving to the area years ago. “Neither of us is originally from here,” Curt says. “We do a pretty big relocation business. Although we’ve been here a long time, we can relate to making a change, and we put that understanding to work for people who are going through similar moves in their lives.” The signs of their success have been impressive. In fact, as a team, they average over $30 million in sales volume each year. 18 • January 2021

Relentless Passion Yet, other numbers are just as meaningful. When you talk with them, you quickly see the relentless passion they have to help people. “It comes back to the customer service aspect of what we do and the importance we put on that. Away from work, Paige and Curt enjoy moments spent with their family, including their children — 24-yearold daughter, Lindsey, who lives in Baton Rouge and works as an Engineer with Exxon Mobile; 21-year-old son, Aaron, who is finishing up the 18-plus transition program at Highland Park High School and works at the Credit Union of Texas; and 19-year-old daughter, Katie, who is a freshman at TCU majoring in business. In their free time, Paige and Curt have a big passion for travel, renovation, landscaping, shopping, and exploring restaurants in town. Giving back is also central to their lives. The couple supports local school districts, as well as local arts organizations such as the Dallas Symphony, the Dallas Arboretum, the Dallas Museum of Art, along with community groups such as the Park Cities Preservation Society and University Park Library. Plus, Lindsey and Katie enjoy taking part in the 20 • January 2021

annual LaFiesta charity event that supports multiple community organizations. As they consider their own careers, Paige and Curt offer advice for the next generation of people entering the business. “I think it begins with reaching out to everyone you know and also constantly staying in touch with people,” Curt says. “Another important thing to do is to get out to home tours and to really know the houses in the market.” As they continue to build on their results, Paige and Curt look forward to building new relationships and helping more area residents. “What we do just doesn’t feel like work to us,” Paige says. “We love interacting with our clients and helping them.” That’s a real down-to-earth dynamic at work in the world. @realproducers

REALTOR® on the rise By Dave Danielson Photos by URSPECIALS

@realproducers

DENNIS HAMMETT BUILDING

ON HIS

BEST

Progress happens when we step into new territory we never expected … when we reach the limit of what we thought we could do, then step beyond it. Dennis Hammett is a prime example of that. As a REALTOR® with Ebby Halliday, Dennis is this month’s REALTOR® on the Rise who continues to move forward by building on his best. That drive to step forward began early in his life. “We all have history and how we were raised. I’m very proud of how my mom and dad raised me and my brother with a positive work ethic. That goes a long

realproducersmag.com

way in how you navigate life,” Dennis remembers. “I’m 58 and I still go back to how I was raised. I think about how mom and dad would handle certain situations. I think it’s important to remember how you were raised and to weave that into your daily thinking process and how you deal with people.” FLYING HIGH

Before beginning his journey in real estate, Dennis enjoyed an extremely successful, long-term career with American Airlines. For his first 12 years, Dennis served as a flight attendant before moving into management and taking on a variety of leadership roles, including responsibility for guiding the culinary planning and airline color and trim designs. Along the way, Dennis has flipped homes in Highland Park and Uptown for several years. “When I retired at age 50, I decided to take the year off and I traveled,”

Dennis remembers. “During that time, I decided to get my real estate license. I thought that would be a way for me to stay productive and that I would have something to fall back on. It was 2013, and I thought if I hadn’t found something else that excited me by the end of the year, I would go into real estate.” The end of the year came. So did the job offers. “As I looked at those offers, they were more of the same,” Dennis says. “So, I thought if I was ever going to do a total career change, this was the time. In October 2013, I launched in and quickly realized that the experience I had with design, customer experience, and negotiations helped me launch a successful real estate career quickly.” Before the end of 2013, Dennis recorded a couple of solid transactions. In 2014, Dennis would see his business really take off. Dallas Real Producers • 25

GAINING TRACTION WITH EXPERIENCE

During his transition into the business, Dennis applied himself with drive and focus. “When I started, I hit the ground running to soak up every bit of experience I could get and I aligned myself with some of the big players and mentors in the industry,” he says. Along the way, Dennis earned Ebby Halliday Companywide Rookie of the Year honors and has never looked back as a perennial top producing agent. Dennis uses a true, all-in approach. “Every transaction I treat as if it could be my last. I never take my clients for granted or the business,” he emphasizes. Gratitude runs deep in Dennis as he recounts his start and growth in the business. “My brokerage played a key role in my success. They have the best new agent training. That’s why I chose Ebby Halliday,” Dennis says. “I had grown up being raised in a family business environment. That time engrained the value of honesty, integrity, and hard work in me.” 26 • January 2021

PASSION FOR PEOPLE

The love for the business Dennis has comes through loud and clear. It’s a passion built around people. “I love meeting new people. I am very customer-facing and outgoing and like to be in front of people. A lot of my

business came from being in a restaurant or having a glass of wine in a bar and having conversations with people,” Dennis explains. “That comes back to my time in the airline … being engaging and inviting. I love hearing people’s stories and that usually turns

@realproducers

EVERY TRANSACTION I TREAT AS IF IT COULD BE MY LAST. I NEVER TAKE MY CLIENTS FOR GRANTED OR THE BUSINESS

into a conversation about a house and them asking me if I can help them. I really enjoy that kind of organic marketing.” Away from work, Dennis leads a fulfilling, active life. realproducersmag.com

“I love the Katy Trail. My 4-year-old Goldendoodle, Parker, and I are out there on the trail almost every day,” he smiles. Dennis is a health and fitness fanatic. He has a passion for cooking as a

clean chef, with fresh meats and vegetables. He’s also a self-admitted workout addict and enjoys his sessions with a personal trainer. “I love spending time with my friends, too. And new restaurants are always fun for me to check out,” he says. “I have friends who own restaurants, so visiting those places on the weekends is something I really enjoy.” In addition, Dennis attends Lift Community Church regularly, and supports the arts and loves to travel — most years going on four or five vacations. He also looks forward to time in Georgia with family, including his mom who lives there. Giving back is an important part of his world also. Dennis volunteers at Meals on Wheels. As he says, “Food is one of those things that’s very near and dear to my heart. Everyone needs to eat and have a balanced diet and nourishment in front of them,” Dennis says. ALL THE RIGHT REASONS

The approach Dennis takes to life and business is grounded in effort and doing things for the right reasons.

Dallas Real Producers • 27

As Dennis says, “One of the most important things to me is receiving a testimonial after any transaction. I tell people that the commission pays the bills, but the most important thing is a happy client … a person who feels they can write out their experience working with me on paper and allowing me to use that as I market what I do.” Dennis is an individual agent who performs with the energy and purpose of many people. As you might guess, he’s been approached with the idea of joining other teams. While he’s honored to receive invitations like that, he likes the path he’s on. “I’ve spent seven years building a business model that has allowed me to stand out … to offer a concierge-style model to clients,” Dennis emphasizes. “I don’t have assistants. You get me. Questions? I’m going to answer. Showings? I’m going to show them. So many people really appreciate the personal relationship. I love what I do.” Those who get to know Dennis experience excellence … the kind of result that comes out of growing and building on the best with purpose.

NEW VIEW ROOFING BUILDING WITH TRUST By Dave Danielson • Photos by URSPECIALS

When you’re creating something that is made to last, only quality will do. That’s a lesson that New View Roofing puts to work every day. Nick Royer is the owner of New View Roofing. Each day, Nick and his partner, Mike Gibson, are committed to ensuring that only the best goes into each job … and it all starts with the most important of all the materials — building with trust. Getting Their Start

Nick remembers the start he and Mike had in the business. “We had an opportunity to work for another roofing company when we first moved to Dallas eight years ago,” Nick recalls. “We worked for them and there were some things that aligned with our mindset and morals. We also learned from mistakes they made. After a short time, we felt we were ready to branch off and start our own business.”

realproducersmag.com

Nick and Mike came to a basic conclusion and approach to the future they wanted to build. “We knew that the people of Dallas didn’t need another roofing company. They just needed a better one,” he says. “And we’ve done everything possible to make that happen.” As Nick says, two of the main components are service and workmanship. “At the end of the day, we are in a performance-based industry, and we take a lot of pride in what we do. We are very thorough, detailed, and hard on our training,” he says. “And as we bring new people onto the team, we make sure that the way they work represents our approach.” Team Pride

When you talk with Nick, the pride he has in his team is clear. “We have project managers who also work as our sales representatives, and are responsible for

generating their own sales. What I teach and preach to our people is being active. When they aren’t out on a job, they are out door-knocking,” Nick says. “It may seem old school, but that’s the approach we take. A very high percentage of our revenue is generated from the work we do door to door. We don’t sit around when we aren’t on a job.” The efforts Nick and the team put forth have led to remarkable results. In fact, New View Roofing completes an average of more than 500 roofs each year. In addition, the company also conducts commercial work in areas around the nation. Rewarding Relationships

The relationships built are one of the most rewarding aspects of business. As Nick explains, “I genuinely enjoy how I create friendships with my clients. Some of my closest friends here in Dallas started out as clients. That’s the first thing that comes to mind

Dallas Real Producers • 31

when I think about the most enjoyable parts of what we do … establishing lifelong friendships.” Made to Last

Consistency is the key to success. And that’s something Nick looks forward to supplying for a long time to come. “I think that 90 percent of being a good parent, spouse, or friend is being there. Our customers know we are there for them through the whole process,” Nick says. “We aren’t fly-bynight. We’ve been here for over six years. We will be here. We don’t plan on moving or selling. We’re not going anywhere. When you call us, we answer. When you text us, we reply, and when you make an appointment we are there on time.”

Character is integral to building lasting results. “The majority of our company are married with children. We share the same values and intentions here. We’re very family-oriented, and we like having company gatherings with our children,” Nick emphasizes. “This is our livelihood. This is our career and we take great pride in giving our best to people. In the process, our customers are all family. And with our real estate partners, we do whatever we can to work with their schedules to make it convenient for them.” Solid Results

With each question and project, the New View Roofing team builds with convenience to ease the process and

fulfill the need as effectively as possible. “When we get a call, we get out to the site within 24 hours and do an estimate. In the process, we assess whether it’s worth it to get insurance involved,” Nick says. “We are built on honesty. If there are minor repairs needed, we’ll tell you that. And when insurance needs to be involved, we take that on and work directly with the insurance companies to ease the process for our clients.” Each day, the team at New View Roofing is delivering more than a completed project or a physical product. Together, they’re delivering peace of mind that comes only by building with trust.
