Hello Friends, Happy New Year from the AMT studio! Whether just a spark or a full wash over your heart, I hope that you have a feeling of optimism and renewal as we step into 2026. We have traveled through several launches together now, and it has been an immense joy to explore diverse and exciting new directions in fabrics which have led to a beautiful array of projects. However, as a creative, I know how important cleaning the slate in the studio is – a “regrouping” if you will. I think this is true for our retail partners as well as our customers. This season, regrouping for Anna Maria Textiles meant getting to the essence of my design loves: detail, color, form and texture. With these four imperatives of my artwork in mind, the results are fabric collections that give makers these hallmarks in the purest most essential form. Heiress is my newest basics collection and captures detail in a heartwarming way, as I based the collection entirely on my Grandmother’s patient needlework. The colors are thrilling and earthy, and the intricacy is a joy. We then do the Tango, and several sexy pairs hit the dance floor in the form of bold and beautiful stripes that vary their width for interest. So, the need for color in the form of a classic is checked off the list with high marks! We then study form with the crisp but sultry Clean Cut collection which offers florals in a very different way than my typical renderings. These blooms are a paper-cut style patterning that spreads across the surface in a reliably modern but timeless manner. They were so fashionable to me that I could not help but also introduce Clean Cut Rayons, made up of six flowy pieces perfect for garment sewing. And to fully support the maker who desires a unique self-made wardrobe, we can celebrate texture with the Journey collection of wovens. I continue to delight in new weave techniques and weights that make these goods beautiful for garments, home goods and patchwork. Keeping AMT tradition, you will find January’s collections divided into the Vintage, Cheery and Lush palettes, and I designed a feature quilt pattern for each of the cotton collections. I have also chosen a sunny and fresh Happy Place solids palette again that offers a lot of contrast when paired with the print collections. To focus on this clean and renewed presentation that works so well with many other AMT fabrics, we’ve decided to let the Bespoke Quilt program rest for a season. My newest AMT basics collection is directly derived from the meticulous handwork created by my Greek grandmother. These treasures are the most valuable inheritance that I could hope for, and I am thrilled to have her rhythmic hand-stitched beauty translated into these geometric motifs. While I grew up on the other side of the world, I did not have the chance to sit at her feet an learn from her. Designing my Heiress fabrics created a connection with my Grandmother that was akin to writing a love letter of gratitude to her. I hope you feel the same sense of timeless heritage and family warmth when you include these fabrics in your projects.

Notes from Anna Maria The Heiress Quilt was designed to evoke some of the geometry and charming patterns present in many traditional handcrafts. In one moment, the shapes seem to take on the form of a woven kilim but at the same time it shares the features of a bold needlework – but of course it’s a quilt! The clever arrangement of blocks allows the quilter to repeat very simple color combinations and then flip the orientation for a pleasing layout.

Pearl Bailey sang it best – there are lots of things you can do alone, but it takes two to TANGO! Inspired by the lively push-and-pull of the dance itself, these simple but dramatic striped color pairings allow bold and balanced moves to take the lead or support many other styles of fabrics for gorgeous combinations. In my color explorations, I varied the stripe widths in increments ranging from just 1/8” all the way up to 4” wide. All of these different widths (each named for a different Tango step) offer a different line style and texture to your projects. Crisp lines and modern contrasts can add energy and direction to traditional designs. The palette is versatile enough to slip effortlessly between playful, painterly, or subdued. Whether you’re piecing a striking quilt top, adding a dash of pattern to a bag or garment, Tango packs the perfect punch.

Notes from Anna Maria I took full advantage of the simplicity that Tango offers and worked the stripes into a basketweave-style patchwork. The center is a simple square patchwork, where the lines alternate direction for visual interest. Rather than typical borders, these vary in width a little while also playing with color placement, creating a notched effect at the corners. Just like the Tango collection itself – simple as can be, but pleasantly perfect!

I’m so pleased for you to meet Clean Cut! I was inspired to create a very fresh and vibrant fabric collection borrowed from nature but with a very pared down perspective on form and color. These florals fill the space with an even hand almost like lace. The paper-cut style connections between simplistic and organic blooms and leaves uniquely tell stories of different species. The emblematic floral forms are rendered in just three colors per fabric, so the full collection palette is reliable whether you are cutting tiny or a larger scale patchwork.

Notes from Anna Maria Despite the fresh and modern feel of the Clean Cut quilting cottons, something about them also felt very nouveau and timeless. I was reminded of mosaics and tiles and therefore decided to dabble with the lovely “Old Italian Tile” quilt block for the first time. Journey is my newest yarn-dyed woven collection, and as my love for woven goods continues to grow so does my explorations of weave styles. This season we have some really interesting jacquards that each have a unique finish and provide some of the most illustrative forms in my wovens yet. These not only feel amazing in your hands, but they offer a diversity of structure and drape so that you can include them in your garment, quilt making, home décor, and accessory sewing plans. The vines, stair steps, and colorful border stripes feel familiar, comforting, and full of perpetual movement. I chose each color and pattern with intention, making sure they pair beautifully with the Clean Cut Rayons so mixing and matching textures is a creative joy.
