EVENT DESCRIPTIONS Check-in Welcome to NCU! Staff and student leaders will guide you through the process of checking in, picking up mailbox numbers and keys, taking an ID photo, and moving into your residence hall/apartment with the help of our student leaders.

For students taking an online course, there will be a short tutorial during this time as well.

Welcome luncheon A complimentary lunch is provided for you and your family members. Your table will be hosted by the new student orientation leaders, upperclassmen who will walk with new students through their transition to life at NCU through Welcome Week. This time will also include introductions of key NCU Administration.

Title IX & Safety session Hear from our Title IX Coordinator & Security personnel during this valuable orientation session.

Department Carousel Join us for orientation on the move! Each orientation session will be hosted in different sections of campus to keep the day moving with helpful content all over NCU. This guided tour allows students and accompanying family members to see sections of campus and participate in the orientation content regarding Academics, on-campus resources, Community Life, and Spiritual Life.

At the end of the carousel, parents will be formally dismissed Welcome Week Groups (Monday) Students will have the opportunity to meet their fellow Welcome Week Group members and familiarize themselves with their peers.

Welcome Week Groups Dinner Students will continue with their peers to fellowship over dinner.

Evening Activity Students will spend a fun evening watching a movie in the Sanctuary. This is open to new and returning students.

Technology Time & Orientation wrap-up One of the keys to being a successful student is knowing the systems that will be used in the classroom. This session will be a hands-on learning time. Content will cover logging into NCU computers, Printing, Skyline, Courses, & Starfish.

Personalized class tour Sign up with your new student orientation leader to have them take you on a tour of your classes. They can show you the fastest ways around campus and help you become more comfortable with your schedule and navigating campus.

Welcome Week Groups (Tuesday) Gather with your Welcome Week Group to further new friendships and hear from current students about life at NCU Dinner with Residence Advisors (RAs) Get to know the leadership in your living area! If you live in the residence halls, meet on your floor. If you live in the apartments, meet in the Apartment RD office (Clay Commons).

Chapel Chapel takes place every week day from 10:50–11:40 a.m. In a non-COVID year, chapel is required as part of the NCU experience. New students are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the chapel attendance policy.

Praise Gathering (Virtual) Due to COVID-19, Wednesday night praise gathering can be experienced through Facebook Live.

Residence Hall floor meetings On-campus students are required to attend the meeting hosted by their Resident Advisor (RA) on their specific floor.

SECURITY Security personnel are on duty 24 hours a day, each day of the year, patrolling and monitoring campus grounds, buildings, and parking lots.

Security can be contacted in the Security Office located in first floor Miller.

Walking escorts are available to any of the NCU buildings or parking areas any time of day or night. A security escort is available to any of the NCU buildings, lightrail station, or parking lots year-round 24 hours a day. Call to request a security escort.

PARKING Students may apply for on-campus, commuter, and street parking online at skyline.northcentral.edu/security. Please read the parking regulations and policies on our website for more details and alternative parking options.

ID CARDS Students are issued an ID card upon arrival to NCU. The ID cards not only identify people associated with NCU, but they also function as an access card to get into buildings, and serve to keep track of meals in the cafeteria according to the meal plan selected. Students are encouraged to wear their name tag in campus buildings.

A helpful feature of the ID cards is that funds can be placed on the card and used in laundry facilities found throughout the campus.

Replacement cards can be purchased for $15.00 if cards are lost, deactivated, or broken.

MAIL CENTER Important Notice to First Year Families: All mail must contain the student’s full name, correct box number, and NCU address, or delivery will be delayed.

The Mail Center will only forward incorrectly addressed mail to your student for 60 days after the start of the semester.

If you wish to receive a copy of your student’s billing statements and grade card, the student must approve the request (per Federal regulations).

During registration there is an address information form that each student must fill out and in which they can specify where their information is sent.

Address Labels! Tired of writing out your student’s long NCU address all the time? We offer personalized address labels with your student’s full NCU address pre-printed and ready to go! The cost is only $3 for 2 sheets.

Need to send something to your student via FedEx, UPS, or DHL? We can sign for it! We accept all packages for NCU students and will email your student when they receive a package.

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO INCLUDE: Please use the following format when sending mail to your student. This format is required by the United States Postal Service. Please do not use PO, Box, “#”, in place of NCU box #.
