Nonviolent Reflection Recenter your life

The four sessions Your life as a garden This day-long, holistic retreat guides you into clarity and resolve by combining Marshall Rosenberg's Nonviolent Communication with the metaphor of a garden to examine your life in depth. Each of the four sessions includes some discussion, short readings, and a guided reflection activity using writing, meditation, and/or art.

three: needs We will touch a little more on the theoretical framework for Nonviolent Communication in this session, as we move into identifying unmet needs. In this session we will work with the metaphor of water as a source of life.

One: Observations In this session, we establish community and settle into a different mind and soul space for the day by visualizing and touring our lives as a garden. Readings and activities guide participants through looking at each area of their lives slowly, in a non-judgmental attitude of observation.

two: feelings Our observations will flow directly into a deep examination of the feelings that arise in response. Using short readings and directed reflection, participants will experience the value of naming what is happening inside them.

four: requests The identification of needs allows us to take action by making specific requests of ourselves and others. The day closes with thinking forward into imagining life flourishing in and through us and committing to necessary action. A closing circle permits the strengthening of community through sharing.
