Dual credit is an opportunity for high school students to begin post-secondary programs and courses while they are still in high school. Most dual credit students are Grade 12 students that take a program or course in their second semester (February) of their Grade 12 year.

Why consider dual credit?

Š College tuition fees may be covered by your school district Š Receive credit for both high school and college.

For example, if a student completes a 3-credit course at NIC, they will be granted a certain number of credits at their high school and 3 credits at NIC. Š Courses are transferable to most universities - you will receive transfer credit for dual credit courses Š Dual credit courses may align with your high school block schedule Š Test drive college while getting support from your high school and NIC Š Lighten your course load in your first year of post-secondary Š Get a head start with trades training and begin your apprenticeship as soon as you graduate Š Complete an NIC certificate while in high school to start your career right after graduation

I would highly recommend high school students look at Youth Train in Trades. It's an awesome opportunity to explore your interests and earn college credit while you're finishing high school.
