Small Engine Installer

Harberger Pty Ltd are seeking a motivated small engine installer to join our team Majority of the work takes place in a large workshop with overhead gantries located in Donald, Victoria

An outline of this position includes:

• Installing new Kohler V-twin engines to grain handling machinery

• Wiring switches and running looms to control boxes

• Installing accessories such as lights and indicators

• Servicing used engines

• Assisting with offsite servicing

Some good fishing was had on Monday night, when Messrs Fred Giles, J T Dwyer, John and William O’Connor tried their luck at Glenloth and relieved the Avoca River of four codfish averaging 16lb each

Messrs Thomas Morrow and Co, instructed by Mr William Usebach, of Ballarat, offered at public auction, at the East Charlton Hotel, on Wednesday 21st inst, a farm of 159 acres of rich agricultural and grazing land, all cleared for plough, watered by good dam, sheep-proof fencing, in good heart, and adjoining the properties of Messrs M and J Mulquiny and Messrs Lynas Bros

The bidding was ver y brisk

Proceedings opened at £8 5s per acre

The property was knocked down to Messrs Lynas Bros of Wooroonook at £12 6s an acre

St Patrick’s Ball

Year after year the St Patrick’s Ball increases in importance, keeping step with enjoyment, and on Wednesday evening all records were eclipsed in the matter of numbers, takings, management and environment

It was the first time that the new St Joseph’s School-Hall was requisitioned for the purpose, the building having only been completed a few weeks ago

Seating accommodation was provided on the stage, which ser ved on this occasion as a galler y for the onlookers, prominent amongst whom were the Revs Father Kelly and Conway (Quambatook)

The program extended to 20 dances and three impromptu during the supper interlude

The orchestra was in the capable hands of Miss Spain (piano), and Messrs O Tappe (violin) and A C Dabron (trombone)

Mr James Nolan was the master of ceremonies

The supper room was under the capable management of the ladies of the Catholic Women’s Social Guild

Case numbers in Victoria continue to rise with 4,448 reported in the 7 day period to last Friday, up from 3,945 for the week prior

There have been 183 hospitalisations which is up from 116

In addition, there are 10 cases in ICU and 3 on ventilators

Mr William Alexander, son of Mr and Mrs Archibald Alexander, Terrappee, passed away at the age of 38 years, from pneumonia, contracted three months ago, and although it was at first hoped that he would recover under the skilful treatment meted out to him he suffered a relapse, from which he never rallied

The deceased was a man highly respected throughout his life, and was noted as a thorough sportsman and one of the best cricketers in the district

Had he lived, he was to have been married as soon as his new home, under construction, should be completed

Of a lovely bright disposition, Ruby Ileen Edwards, daughter of

Mrs Florence Edwards and the late William Edwards, of “Rock Bank” Woosang, passed away at the age of 22 years

Up till about two y e a r s a g o s h e e n j o y e d robust health, and was the life of ever y assembly of her girlfriends

It was then that she was stricken with what resulted in total blindn e s s , a n d w h i l e n o m e d i c a l a i d c o u l d r elieve the situation, she bore her affliction with e x e m p l a r y p a t i e n c e and a cheerfulness that w a s t h e w o n d e r a n d pride of all her friends

On the news of death reaching Barrakee and Woosang, the young people cancelled all their amusements in token of the respect and loving admiration in which the deceased had always been held
