HOW CAN I SUPPORT MY TEAM(S)?

2-8 December

Self-reflect, support one another and practice empathy.

WHAT IS GRIEF AWARENESS WEEK?

While we may not fully understand each other’s grief, we can offer our kindness, patience, and a listening ear to those who may need it.

Grief Awareness Week is a time dedicated to raising awareness about the universal experience of grief and its many facets. It serves as a reminder that grief is a natural response to loss and change, and it can manifest in various ways. Grief is a deeply personal and unique experience for everyone. There is no timeline for grieving, and each person’s journey is valid and deserving of respect. We understand that grief extends beyond the loss of a loved one and can encompass various life changes and transitions. During this week, we aim to create a supportive and compassionate environment where employees can openly express their emotions and experiences.

THE PURPOSE OF GRIEF AWARENESS WEEK Grief Awareness Week brings our employees closer together as a community. When we empathise with one another’s struggles, we build stronger connections, enhancing our collective ability to support each other both personally and professionally. By acknowledging grief, we create an environment where individuals feel seen and heard, and their feelings are validated. Compassion plays a crucial role in supporting colleagues during challenging times, helping them feel understood and supported. Furthermore, this week encourages open and honest dialogues about grief, allowing employees to share their experiences and insights without fear of judgment. These conversations help break down barriers and promote a culture of understanding.

WHAT IS INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES? Norse Group joins the global community in celebrating the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. This annual observance promotes the rights and well-being of people with disabilities and encourages inclusive practices in all aspects of life. As an organisation that embraces diversity and fosters an inclusive environment, the Group takes this day as an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to supporting our employees with disabilities and creating a workplace that values and accommodates their unique abilities. Let us come together to celebrate the talents and contributions of our colleagues with disabilities and promote a more inclusive and accessible future.

STEPS WE CAN TAKE TO PROMOTE ACCESSIBILITY WITHIN OUR ORGANISATION: 1.

Physical Accessibility: Ensure that our workplaces are physically accessible to employees with mobility challenges. This includes providing ramps, lifts and accessible toilet facilities. It is important to take into consideration that not all disabilities are visible; even though the disability cannot be seen or is not immediately obvious, it does not mean it doesn’t exist. Adjustments for accessibility may need to be made for those who have non-visible disabilities.
