Norfolk Public Library Fall and Holiday Guide 2024

Winding down with Norfolk Public Library!

Sonal Rastogi, Director of Libraries

Swing into the holidays with Norfolk Public Library!

The Norfolk Public Library family is excited to get into the holiday spirit following another successful Summer Reading Program. With the help of our partners from Friends of the NPL and the Nutrition Department of Norfolk Public Schools, we were able to provide featured weekly entertainment performances and educational experiences at each of our locations and thousands of free meals and books to our younger patrons. This summer there truly was an adventure to be had at NPL and we hope you all had as much fun participating as we had in serving you. NPL has also been busy upgrading its facilities throughout the City of Norfolk. The Lafayette and Larchmont branches both saw major renovations to their buildings, ranging

from new shelving, carpeting and paint at both locations to ceiling and skylight repairs at Lafayette and construction of an ADA compliant ramp at Larchmont. Our Janaf branch also received a new circulation desk, there have ongoing repairs to the infrastructure of the Blyden branch. And The Downtown Branch at Slover is in the process of adding a computer lab and teen zone. As always, we thank you for your continued support as we improve our branches and find more ways to be a lifelong learning resource for our community. We are excited to present to you in this guide all the programming we have planned in the upcoming months. From various seasonal Storytimes and continual early literacy programs for our youth to technology classes and craft workshops for adults, I’m sure there is something you will find throughout these pages that will pique your interest. And keep an eye on the calendar for when we celebrate TeenTober and International Games Week. From all of us here at Norfolk Public Library, we wish you a momentous remainder of 2024 and hope you participate in one of our many programs meant to foster continued learning, education and sense of community.

Warmest regards,
