Voorwoord/preface Al meer dan 35 jaar is Borek vooruitstrevend op het gebied van parasols en buitenmeubelen en blijft steeds de creatieve grenzen verleggen om kwalitatief hoogwaardige en pure producten te creëren. Producten die zorgen voor ultiem zitcomfort en perfecte schaduw. Zoals een mooie wijn rijpt, zo groeit ook onze collectie. Met grote aandacht voor elk klein detail en het gekozen materiaal. Bij Borek is een ontwerp pas af, als de ultieme samenhang is bereikt met het buitenleven. Sinds 1977 werken we hiervoor nauw samen met vooraanstaande ontwerpers en dit resulteert elk seizoen weer in uiterst smaakvolle buitenmeubelen en bijpassende parasols. Borek weet als geen ander om ‘genieten’ en ‘ontspannen’ samen te brengen in unieke producten. De tuin vormt hierin het centrale middelpunt, als domein van rust om met familie en vrienden in te genieten. Elk nieuw ontwerp van Borek moet een toegevoegde waarde aan dit ultieme genot van het buitenleven opleveren. De nieuwe collectie toont zich volledig in balans met de voorwaarden die Borek zichzelf al jarenlang stelt.

En waarin geen enkele concessie is gedaan, niet in kwaliteit, functionaliteit of in uitstraling. Daarom zijn wij ook blijvend trots, ieder jaar weer. Trots op onze inspanningen, die ook nu weer hebben geleid tot een spraakmakende collectie. Rope is een uniek materiaal dat Borek exclusief gebruikt in een reeks nieuwe producten zoals Lissone en Portofino. Helemaal van deze tijd zijn de bijpassende, handgehaakte Crochettes. Teak is weer helemaal terug in de nieuwe loungecollectie Viking en Milano. Maar ook in de Venice-tafels met grijze finish en in de prachtige familietafel Roma met een lengte van maar liefst 5.00 meter. Teak is prachtig in combinatie met luxe kussens, o.a. jacquards in de nieuwe warme kleuren Paon gris, Gold chanvre en Carbone taupe. Diverse lounge collecties worden standaard geleverd met all weather kussens. Kers op de taart is een royale parasol die u schaduw en verkoeling geeft.

Nieuw dit jaar bij Borek zijn de grootformaat vrijhangende parasol Tarente van maar liefst 4.00 x 4.00 meter en de vrolijk gestreepte Madera parasols. We are pleased to present the new Borek brochure with our high-profile innovations for the 2013 outdoor season. Borek continues to push boundaries in order to create high-quality, pure products – products which provide ultimate seating comfort and perfect shade. Our collection can be compared to good wine: it gets even better as it matures. We always pay great attention to the smallest details and the materials we select. Borek does not consider any design complete until it is perfectly compatible with the outdoor world. To achieve this, we have been working closely together with prominent designers since 1977, which has resulted in extremely tasteful outdoor furniture and matching parasols every season, time and time again. Like no other, Borek knows how to combine ‘enjoyment’ and ‘relaxation’ into unique products. The garden is our main focus, a peaceful domain to be enjoyed with family and friends.

Every new Borek design adds value to this ultimate enjoyment of outdoor life. Our new collection is in complete balance with the conditions Borek has been imposing on itself for years. No concessions are made – in quality, in functionality or appearance. This is why we are always so proud of our efforts – once again they have resulted in another high-profile collection.

Rope is a unique material that Borek uses exclusively in a range of new products such as Lissone and Portofino. The matching hand-crocheted Crochettes are right up to the minute. Teak has made a full comeback in our new Viking and Milano lounge collections, as well as in our Venice grey-finished tables and in the beautiful Roma family table, which is no less than 5.00 m long. Teak combines wonderfully with luxury cushions, including our jacquards in the new warm colours of Paon gris, Gold chanvre, and Carbone taupe. Several lounge collections come with all-weather cushions as a standard. The icing on the cake is a large parasol, which will offer you plenty of shade and enable you to stay cool. A new item in this year’s Borek collection is the large-size Tarente parasol, which measures no less than 4.00 x 4.00 m, and the attractively striped Madera parasols. Borek by Eric Kuster Kuster kreeg bekendheid door de talloze interieurs die hij creëerde voor internationale sterren en BN’ers in binnen- en buitenland. Daarnaast bepaalde hij smaak en voorkomen van diverse horeca gelegenheden, hotels en publieke ruimten, waaronder de hippe uitgaansgelegenheid Jimmy Woo in Amsterdam en Camp Nou van voetbalclub FC Barcelona.Zijn typerende glamoureuze stijl is gestoeld op ‘metropolitan luxury’, een treffend label voor zijn manier van ontwerpen waarbij hij zich laat inspireren door zijn cosmopolitische reizen en klassiek en modern design.

‘De collectie die ik voor Borek heb ontworpen, onderscheidt zich door haar tijdloze karakter en internationale look. De meubels zijn stuk voor stuk toe te passen in ieder interieur en elke sfeer, over de gehele wereld. Ik heb bewust gekozen voor grote, robuuste items. Subtiele meubels vallen snel in het niet; met groot creëer je mooie statements, wat in zijn totaliteit perfect aansluit. Borek en ik staan voor hetzelfde: een internationale en tijdloze look, hoogstaande kwaliteit, luxe en comfort. Marcel Wolterinck and Borek

Borek by Eric Kuster The celebrated designer is best known for his international and Dutch celebrity clientele, for which he drew up countless private residences. Moreover, Kuster defined the face of various public venues, from hotels to night clubs to bars, most notably the distinctive night club Jimmy Woo in Amsterdam and FC Barcelona’s Camp Nou in Barcelona, Spain. His typically glamourous outings are derived from ‘metropolitan luxury’, a fitting label for his design approach, fed by his cosmopolitan travels, exquisite taste and love for both classic and modern design.

‘The collection I designed for Borek clearly distinguishes itself from other outdoor furniture by its timeless, international appeal. Each piece of furniture individually blends in with any given interior style, around the world. I consciously opted for generously-sized, solid designs. Subtle or delicate furniture easily sees itself diminished in an existing space; large-sized pieces allow for creating true interior statements, giving way to a complete new look that incorporates the already existing designs in a space.

Borek and I share the same design principles: an international and timeless look, outstanding quality, luxury and not last comfort. It has made our collaboration a smooth, enjoyable and successful process, and, as the past has shown us, something to be repeated.

Borek, by Wolterinck De grote kracht achter Wolterinck is designer Marcel Wolterinck. Hij ontwerpt met zijn team interieurs, exterieurs, tuinen, terrassen en producten. Vanuit Wolterinck’s World zorgt hij dat ruimtes in binnenen buitenland de Wolterinck metamorfose ondergaan. Altijd gebaseerd op rust, ritme en symmetrie.

Zijn kleurgebruik is sober en zijn materialen zijn puur.

‘Binnen’ probeert hij altijd met ‘buiten’ te verbinden.

De collectie die Wolterinck heeft gemaakt is nieuw in vorm en materiaal. Marcel Wolterinck: “Ik liet me inspireren door tuinen die mij aanspreken, waarin rust, ritme en symmetrie zit. Ook belangrijk voor mij is dat het interieur van het huis goed aansluit bij de buitenruimte. Een vloeiende overgang tussen deze twee werelden, geeft een prettig gevoel en maakt de totale leefomgeving groter.”

Dat goede gevoel moet ook terug komen in de meubels. “Ten eerste moet een stoel lekker zitten en ten tweede gebruik ik graag nieuwe, bijzondere materialen.

Bijvoorbeeld de rope in de Modena serie. Daarnaast is gemak belangrijk. De bank uit de Horizon collectie is licht hanteerbaar door het aluminium frame. Door de losse elementen kan je er desgewenst een grotere bank of een hoekbank van maken. De kussens zorgen voor aangenaam comfort en een mooi contrast met de strakke horizontale lijnen van de collectie. Kortom, onze samenwerking heeft geleid tot een geslaagde, nieuwe collectie, waarop ik heel trots ben.”

Borek, by Wolterinck The great force behind Wolterinck is designer Marcel Wolterinck.

With his team, he designs interiors, exteriors, gardens, patios and products. Working from his base at Wolterinck’s World he ensures that spaces at home and abroad undergo the Wolterinck metamorphosis – one that is always based on peace, rhythm, and symmetry. His use of colour is sober and his materials are pure. He always tries to connect the ‘indoors’ to the ‘outdoors’.

The collection Wolterinck made is new in both shape and material use. Marcel Wolterinck: “I got my inspiration from gardens that appealed to me, and which exuded peace, rhythm, and symmetry. Another important aspect to me is that the interior of the house matches the space outside. A smooth transition between these worlds gives one a good feeling and increases the overall size of the living environment.” This ‘good feeling’ needs to be reflected in the furniture as well. “First and foremost, a chair needs to be comfortable to sit on and, secondly, I like to use new and special materials, e.g. the rope in the Modena series.

Furthermore, ease of use is crucial. The couch from the Horizon collection is easy to handle because of its aluminium frame. Due to the loose elements it can be turned into a larger couch or a corner couch, if desired.

The cushions provide both pleasant comfort and a nice contrast to the taut horizontal lines of the collection.

Basically, our collaboration has led to a successful new collection, one I am very proud of.”
