ABOUT US

Helle Moyna founded Nordic Elements in London in 2008. On re-locating to Dublin in 2013 she set up Nordic Elements in the basement of her own home in Booterstown. The success and expansion of the business prompted the move to No. 38 Main St, Blackrock in 2021.

Inspired by her Danish upbringing, Helle’s aesthetic is a contemporary fusion of Mid-Century Modern with a Scandinavian appreciation of quality and functional design. With a passion for mixing old and new pieces from an extensive network of brands, manufacturers and designers, some of which Nordic Elements represent exclusively in Ireland.

Sustainability is very important to us. We don’t believe in furniture that only suits a trend, or quality that doesn’t last. We view our pieces as modern heirlooms and feel it’s better to buy well and less.

P.V. Jensen-Klint folded a lampshade for a petroleum lamp around the year 1900. He needed a shade to diffuse the sharp light and direct the light while keeping the paper away from the hot glass, inspired

by Japanese origami he developed the cross-pleating technique, allowing the shade to have a collar/top at an angle of 90° to the straight pleats.
