A BATTLE FOR THE AGES
By Heather Turk
“BattleBots” co-founder and executive producer Greg Munson knows that “magic tricks are cool and circus stuff is fun, but 250-pound robots beating the crap out of each other is awesome.” That’s why, after shooting more than 90 hours of television inside of the BattleBots Arena at Caesars Entertainment Studios, “BattleBots” launched Las Vegas’ first ongoing robotic combat show — “BATTLEBOTS: DESTRUCT-A-THON” — in February.
“We’ve known for years that a show in Las Vegas was the next step for the sport and the brand,” Munson stated. “We’ve got a hit TV show along with a growing community of robot builders and a global fan base. The time is right to grow the sport into the next great fighting league.”
‘BATTLEBOTS: DESTRUCT-A-THON’ is a unique fighting experience the whole family can enjoy production. Munson teased that fans can look forward to “an amazing new hammer robot, a radical new tank robot and the return of the most fearsome saw robot on the planet.” Occasionally, fans will see entrants from rookie robot combat teams competing as well.
“Las Vegas is the fight capital of the world,” Munson noted, “so where better to hold our one-of-a-kind robot fighting experience than here?”
“BATTLEBOTS: DESTRUCT-A-THON” runs Thursday and Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 3 and 6 p.m. and Sunday at noon. Tickets start at just $49, plus taxes and fees, with family bundles and VIP options also available. battlebots.com
