the 8-time GRAMMY Award Winner at Resorts World Theatre
By Heather Turk
Since its premiere at Resorts World Las Vegas in December 2021, Carrie Underwood’s REFLECTION: The Las Vegas Residency has been one of the Entertainment Capital of the World’s hottest tickets. Returning to the 5,000-person capacity Resorts World Theatre June 1, August 14 through 24 and October 16 through 26 at 8 p.m., the spectacular production celebrates the 8-time GRAMMY Award winner’s storied career by bringing her greatest hits to life like never before. Allegiant recently caught up with the country music superstar to reflect on the show’s success and her extraordinary, nonstop life.
“REFLECTION: The Las Vegas Residency” is one of the best concert residencies in town, from your band and your astounding vocals to the visuals, special effects, dancers and aerialists. At what point in your career did you start thinking about following in the footsteps of such legendary artists as Celine Dion and Reba McEntire by launching your own Las Vegas residency?
The idea had come up a couple of times over the years, but it really wasn’t
something I gave a lot of thought to until AEG and Resorts World came to us. It was clear that it was going to be an incredible new property and a state-of-the-art theatre, and it just felt like the stars aligned. It was also exciting to me to get to be one of the property’s original residents. Getting to be the first artist to perform on that stage was truly an honor that will be part of my and the hotel’s legacy.

I know your schedule is extremely busy, both as a performer and as a mom. Did you get a chance to see any Las Vegas residencies before creating your own?
I’ve seen some great shows over the years, but to be honest, when I’ve been in Vegas I’m usually working, so there wasn’t always time to get to see other residencies. I have seen Cher and some of the Cirque shows, all of which I loved. When my Cry Pretty Tour 360 ended a few years back, my band and I literally went from our last show on the road to Vegas to see Guns N’ Roses. Now I’ve gotten to perform with them a few times, which is still a “pinch me” moment.

For those who have seen you on the road before, how does REFLECTION compare to your previous tours?
Of course there are certain hits — like “Jesus, Take the Wheel” and “Before He Cheats” — that everyone has come to hear, and we will always include those. When we’re out on tour, though, it’s usually around an album release, so we will play more songs from that particular record. We wanted REFLECTION to be a greatest hits kind of show — as many of the highlights as we can pack in, presented in new and different ways.
You do pack a lot of hits into the production. Was there anything left out when building the set list that you wish you had more time to include, or any new numbers off Denim & Rhinestones (Deluxe Edition) that you’d like to incorporate one day?
After the last tour, we did add in “Denim & Rhinestones,” which is a big fun moment in the show where I get to try to keep up with our incredible dancers. It’s always fun to get to perform that one live. With REFLECTION, like a lot of our past touring productions, we
try to find ways to work in elements of certain songs — whether it’s an instrumental moment during a costume change or a transition in the show — so we get to represent more than just the songs I’m actually singing.
How do you keep your vocals so strong for the show, especially during the dry summer months?
Health and wellness have always been a priority for me, even before I was as focused on fitness. Just like my body, I have to take care of my voice so it can do everything I need it to — especially when I’m singing every night on tour or onstage for 2 hours for REFLECTION. Of course, I try to conserve my vocal energy on show days, but the most important things are that I’m eating right, staying hydrated and keeping healthy.
You mention at one point during REFLECTION that the thing you love about country music is that sometimes you write from the heart about your own experiences and other times you just make stuff up. When writing a song, what poses more of a challenge?
I feel like my emotional experiences come more into play for me during the writing process. The characters and situations are more made up or sometimes exaggerated, which of course is a lot more fun!
At another point during the show, you invite a bachelorette up onstage to help you sing “AllAmerican Girl.” Have you had any memorable bachelorette interactions since the show premiered?
The thing I love about that is, when we originally started making that an audience participation moment in the show back when “All-American Girl” first came out, I’d bring a little girl up to sing with me. Now, all these years later, we’re celebrating those little girls

who are all grown up and have come to Vegas to celebrate their bachelorette parties. It’s a sweet full-circle moment.
Last year, you became the first female artist with your own year-round channel on SiriusXM: CARRIE’S COUNTRY. How much fun is it curating your own channel?
I really love sharing my musical universe on the channel. We play so many different artists and genres, it’s like turning my own personal playlist into a channel that everyone can enjoy.
or just the pool at the hotel, being in and around water is something we always enjoy as a family. Also, while we’ve been in Las Vegas with the kids, we’ve visited some beautiful places like the Grand Canyon. Even on the Strip the kids have had a blast visiting “Tournament of Kings” at Excalibur, the aquarium at Mandalay Bay [Shark Reef], the roller coasters and various arcades. There are things for kids to do, you’ve just got to find them!

Aside from music, you are known for your passion for fitness and wellness — including your fit52 fitness app, which is celebrating its 4th anniversary this year. You also launched a second SiriusXM channel, CARR-DIO by CARRIE’S COUNTRY, that incorporates some fitness advice when it isn’t playing high-energy workout tracks. I’m sure the show is a workout by itself, but how do you stay in shape when you’re in town?
Ironically, I’m able to be more regimented with my fitness when I’m touring or in Vegas — I have a more regular schedule and can plan my workouts and meals a little easier. When I’m at home, I’m like everyone else balancing work and home and family, and you just have to work in working out. Sometimes it’s just a walk or getting outside and running around with the kids. CARR-DIO by CARRIE’S COUNTRY started with a regular feature on CARRIE’S COUNTRY and people enjoyed it so much, it’s now its own channel on the SiriusXM app. It’s fun sharing my workout playlists with everybody.
You recently added another new channel to your SiriusXM universe: SAVIOR SUNDAY DAILY by CARRIE’S COUNTRY. What was the inspiration for that?
Again, it was born as a regular feature that we were able to expand into its own channel. Hymns and gospel music are such an important musical foundation for me and we play all kinds of inspirational songs, from traditional to country and beyond. We’ve always played it all day every Sunday on CARRIE’S COUNTRY, and now we have a new channel that plays it all day, every day.
Since it’s summertime, a lot of your fans coming to see REFLECTION may be visiting Las Vegas with their kids. What are some of your favorite Las Vegas activities to enjoy when your boys are with you?
Our favorite summer activities always involve water. Whether it’s the ocean, a lake, river
I know $1 from every REFLECTION ticket sold goes to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which Allegiant also strongly supports. You’ve been a supporter of the organization for more than 15 years. I would imagine you get even more out of granting wishes than the kids themselves.

We’ve done this from the beginning of my career, donating a portion of our ticket price to a worthwhile charity or organization. I have a long history with Make-A-Wish and love what they do for kids and families, and I feel blessed to be able to support them and so many others over the years. I am so happy to be giving back to them with REFLECTION. We all get to come out and have a good time, and do some good for people who need it at the same time.
I would be remiss not to mention that you are currently endorsing the Allegiant Allways Rewards Visa® credit card and loyalty program. How did that partnership come about?
From the beginning, I responded to our shared roots and the fact that Allegiant makes air travel affordable and accessible for so many people. I grew up in a small town and remember having to drive to a major airport — Allegiant has really opened those options up for folks. I also love that they are committed to giving back. That’s something else we have in common. It’s been a wonderful partnership.
What do you look for in a product before you commit to throwing your support behind it?
In any partnership, I have to believe in the product or service. If there isn’t an organic connection, it isn’t going to be an authentic match and I think people feel that.
Allegiant is all about helping people live their best nonstop life, so now it’s time to reflect on your life and answer the question: Aside from being one of Las Vegas’ top headliners — not to mention a hugely successful recording artist and entrepreneur — how are you living your best nonstop life?
I definitely live a nonstop life! I have two young boys and a job that keeps me constantly on the go, so I appreciate that Allegiant helps people live their best nonstop lives.
“American Idol” has crowned many winners since you competed on the show in 2005, but only a few contestants have reached the level of success you and Kelly Clarkson achieved. What do you credit your success to?
First and foremost, I have to give credit to God, and of course there are the fans — all the people that voted for me as a contestant on “Idol” week after week and have bought the records and showed up for the concerts for all these years. They are the reason we get to do what we do!

Finally, with so many quality shows in the Entertainment Capital of the World, why should readers make time to see REFLECTION: The Las Vegas Residency during their Allegiant getaway?
Whether you are a fan who has seen this or any of our previous shows, or you are just coming to see us for the first time while you’re in Vegas, you’re going to have a fun night. This is such a fun show to perform, and the energy of the audience in the theatre is like nothing else I know.

Summertime in Las Vegas means only one thing: it’s pool season! Las Vegas is known for its many luxurious resort pools, some of which are the main reason visitors book a particular property during the summer months. After all, when it’s 100-plus degrees outside, guests want to cool off in style.

Darren Aronofsky’s “Postcard from Earth” is the first production to feature Sphere’s multi-sensory 4D technologies

Step inside The Sphere Experience A WORLD OF WONDER
By Heather TurkSince opening last September, Sphere has been known for its can’t-miss concert residencies, like “Dead Forever — Live at Sphere.” Running select dates through July 13, Dead & Company’s immersive residency not only features never-beforeseen visual storytelling from the rock band, but also a unique set list for each week of performances. However, attending a concert isn’t the only way guests can experience Sphere.
Offered at various times nearly every day, The Sphere Experience puts Sphere’s 22nd century immersive technologies on full display. Broken up into two experiences, the two-hour program begins in the Atrium, which tells a universal story of how culture, technology, science, art and the natural world have been intertwined throughout human history. Five humanoid robots named Aura serve as interactive guides, each one focusing on a fundamental aspect of human

ability: connection, creativity, innovation, longevity and productivity. Aura guides guests through an interactive demonstration of the world’s most advanced concert-grade audio system — Sphere Immersive Sound powered by HOLOPLOT — showing how beamforming technology can simultaneously send unique audio content to specific locations. This allows guests to hear completely different content depending on where they’re standing. Guests can partake in various other

immersive technology experiences as well while visiting the Atrium, including a 360-degree avatar capture that virtually puts guests on top of Sphere and a 50-foot-high holographic installation that draws on themes from the second part of The Sphere Experience: Darren Aronofsky’s “Postcard from Earth.”
A first-of-its-kind immersive film by the Academy Award-nominated “Black Swan” director, “Postcard from Earth” is a portrait of our planet, re-imagined as a sci-fi experience. Utilizing Sphere’s 16K by 16K interior LED display plane that wraps up, over and around the audience, the 50-minute, multi-sensory film not only takes audiences on a journey spanning all seven continents, but also deep into the ocean, high into the mountains, into the eye of a storm and out into space. With environmental effects that rouse the senses, like the feeling of a cool breeze, and immersive seats with an infrasound haptic system that uses deep vibrations so guests feel the rumble of thunder or a soaring rocket launch, Sphere’s experiential, next-generation technologies transport audiences to new worlds without ever having to leave their seats.
Tickets for The Sphere Experience start at $79, plus taxes and fees. For those looking for the ultimate way to experience the attraction, tickets are available that allow guests to watch “Postcard from Earth” from the very best seats in the house, as if they were looking through Aronofsky’s camera lens. Guests who purchase the Director’s Seat Package receive other perks as well, including a Sphere T-shirt. Regardless of where visitors sit, they are in for an experience unlike any other.

SUMMER FUN IN DOWNTOWN LAS VEGAS
Top attractions visitors won’t want to missBy Heather Turk
Downtown Las Vegas is always bustling with excitement, but this summer, visitors will find that there’s even more to enjoy in the area. From noteworthy new additions to signature staples, downtown Las Vegas continues to prove that there is so much more to the Entertainment Capital of the World than just the Strip.
Arguably no visit to Downtown Las Vegas is complete without visiting Fremont Street Experience. Offering direct pedestrian access to eight hotel-casinos, the sixblock entertainment district is home to the world’s longest digital screen — the 1,375-foot-long Viva Vision — which is
suspended 90 feet above the ground. Featuring 49.3 million energy-efficient LED lamps and a state-of-the-art 600,000-watt concert-quality sound system, Viva Vision plays free nightly light and sound shows by some of the music industry’s hottest acts, including Katy Perry and Stone Temple Pilots. Fremont Street Experience also hosts the popular summertime Downtown Rocks concert series, which, since 2009, has featured free concerts by such famous artists as Neon Trees and Sebastian Bach on its 3rd and 1st Street stages.

Vision canopy by riding SlotZilla. Offering two exhilarating experiences, the unique zipline attraction lets guests launch from a slot-machine-themed platform and either glide 850 feet in a seated position 77 feet above the ground on its zipline or soar 114 feet in the air superhero style for 1,750 feet on its zoomline. New for 2024, guests can purchase an All You Can Fly Before 5 ticket that lets them fly as many times as

they want from noon to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, for just $69, plus fees. vegasexperience.com
Adrenaline junkies will definitely want to check out AeroVegas when it opens this summer, too. The world’s first rooftop open-air skydiving experience, the highflying attraction will be located near SlotZilla on top of Neonopolis’ all-new restaurant and bar, Crash N Burn. With no net above to obstruct the flier’s view, guests are in store for an adrenaline rush unlike any other.
For those who would rather take in the sights with their feet firmly planted on the ground, Crash N Burn has a 300-foot-long balcony that offers unparalleled views of both SlotZilla and Viva Vision. Guests can savor such tasty dishes as the BBQ Bacon Smashburger or the Sicilian Flatbread while watching SlotZilla’s riders fly by or head inside the 14,000-square-foot venue to play a variety of fun games like duckpin bowling. crashnburn.com
Foodies visiting Downtown Las Vegas will want to head over to the Las Vegas Arts District as well, as longtime local favorite Esther’s Kitchen recently moved into a new location on Main Street. Known for its seasonal Italian cuisine and craft cocktails, the restaurant can now accommodate more than three times the number of diners as its original location. estherslv.com

Visitors can learn more about Las Vegas at The Mob Museum, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement. The intriguing museum features a variety of artifacts, interactive exhibits and hightech audiovisual displays that examine such topics as how Las Vegas was the ultimate “open city” that attracted mobsters and how organized crime persists today. There’s even a new exhibit and documentary film debuting
the museum’s basement as well where adults can enjoy a selection of cocktails, including five libations only available on a new secret menu that’s hidden among the bar’s artwork and artifacts. themobmuseum.org
With all this and so much more to experience, visitors would be remiss if they didn’t spend some quality time this summer in Downtown Las Vegas.

WALK IN HISTORY’S FOOTSTEPS

Whether you are a history buff or you are just looking for a fun way to achieve your step goal for the day, Las Vegas Walking Tours is the perfect way for visitors to explore Downtown Las Vegas.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary this summer, the acclaimed tour company offers two-hour guided walking tours that take guests on an informative “walk through time.” Guests will meet in Downtown Las Vegas at the site of Las Vegas’ first train station back in the early 1900s and walk 0.7 miles down historic Fremont Street to Downtown Container Park. Along the way, they will learn about the history of Downtown Las Vegas and its revitalization over the past couple of decades. The company was started by Las Vegas Walking Tours guide Kelly Fairchild and his wife, avid travelers who always love to learn about the places they visit by taking a walking tour to discover what the locals know and hear more about the area’s history.
“We were surprised to learn in 2014 that there was not a consistently offered, comprehensive walking tour for Downtown Las Vegas, the area where the city began,” Fairchild told nonstoplife. “With all the visitors to Las Vegas, we felt it was a shame that most didn’t even venture downtown on their first visit or learn any of the city’s fabulous history.”

Even longtime Las Vegas locals are sure to learn something on the informative tour, which covers everything from California Hotel & Casino’s role in making Las Vegas the honorary ninth island of Hawaii to Hotel Apache’s haunted history. Fairchild will point out remnants of Downtown Las Vegas’ history that are hiding in plain sight as well, like part of The Mint hotel sign from 1957.
Since Fremont Street Experience tends to get loud, each guest is given an earpiece so they can hear Fairchild clearly throughout the tour. Fairchild will also pass out a restaurant tip sheet and several coupons good at local businesses after the tour ends so guests can eat or do some shopping in the area. For those eager to learn more about Downtown Las Vegas, a 30-minute tour upgrade is available that takes guests past historic chapels and city buildings en route to the world-famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop from “Pawn Stars.”
With each guest’s safety being of the utmost importance to Las Vegas Walking Tours, there are some days during the summer that tours are not offered due to extreme heat advisories. Guests are also strongly encouraged to bring sunscreen and a non-alcoholic beverage to drink, as only part of the tour is shaded. Advance bookings are required, as detailed meeting instructions will be sent to guests with their ticket confirmation. lasvegaswalkingtours.net

Eco-friendly vineyards in Santa Barbara County
By Connor McIlveen
While the Napa region of Northern California is a popular and well-regarded wine region, just a quick drive north from sunny Los Angeles is a vintners paradise hidden in the hills around Santa Barbara. In this region, several vintners are growing grapes with a focus on sustainability, organic farming and regenerative practices to ensure a bright future filled with delicious wine.
LUMEN WINES
The vintners at Lumen are as proud of their grapes as they are their wine. The fruit is grown with strict regenerative practices, and through low intervention wine-making processes, each wine is bottled with as little sulfur as possible.
The grapes come from a host of nearby vineyards that are either certified as sustainable, organic or biodynamic. Take Wild King Vineyards for example, a main supplier for Lumen’s Pinot Noir varietals. The farming is zero-intervention organic, which means that the grapes grow with little to no pruning, spraying or watering.
This process of low intervention growing and bottling is a tactic you can taste. Lumen wines can be sampled at one of four tasting experiences by reservation only. On the Lumen Vineyard Experience, visitors can

GRIMM’S BLUFF
With the help of Philippe Coderey, an expert in biodynamics with extensive vineyard experience, holistic growing concepts became an integral part of Grimm’s Bluff wine production. Small herds and flocks of livestock are raised naturally in conjunction with crops, the two symbiotically feeding each other. Under the guidance of Coderey, the team discovered the ideal soil conditions on their property to plant grapes, and soon enough, they had wine. Their first Sauvignon Blanc was harvested in 2014, making Grimm’s Bluff a relative newcomer in Santa Barbara County’s wine scene.
Grimm’s Bluff has even been awarded California Certified Organic Farmers certification. To receive this high standard, the farm must adhere to strict organic growing principles. No fertilizers or pesticides are used in the growing of grapes — just sun, water and hard work.
Grimm’s Bluff offers tours of their private ranch and tastings where guests can sample limited production wines while hearing about the processes from ground to glass. grimmsbluff.com

COOL ARIZONA ESCAPES

Temperatures soar in Phoenix during the summer, but Allegiant passengers can beat the heat with a day trip to one of many popular in-state destinations.
SEDONA

When needed, visitors can cool off in Oak Creek or slide down a watery 80-foot natural sandstone flume at Slide Rock State Park.

Although swimming is prohibited, outdoor enthusiasts can spend a refreshing afternoon on the waters of Watson Lake, minutes from downtown. Local outfitters rent kayaks, canoes, standup paddle boards and pedal boats. prescott.com
FLAGSTAFF
Surrounded by pine trees and hiking trails, Flagstaff draws visitors who want to enjoy summer temperatures in the low 80s. Allegiant passengers can explore downtown shops ranging from bookstores to Babbitt’s Backcountry Outfitters, or ride the Scenic Gondola at Snowbowl for elevated views of local volcanic fields and Sedona’s red rocks in the distance. To learn about the vegetation of the Colorado Plateau, visit the Arboretum at Flagstaff and walk its trails.
Flagstaff is also home to several renowned museums, including the Museum of Northern Arizona, which focuses on regional geography and culture, and Lowell Observatory, where Clyde Tombaugh discovered Pluto. Riordan Mansion State Historic Park offers a glimpse of what life was like for early settlers.
Between activities, visitors can sample beer on the Flagstaff Brewery Trail. Favorite stops include Mother Road Brewing, Lumberyard Brewing Company and Dark Sky Brewing.

UNFORGETTABLE GREENS
Last December, Southwest Florida’s “Golf” Coast welcomed a championship-level golf experience unlike any other when Aileron Golf Club opened in conjunction with Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor.
Designed by renowned golf course architect and former collegiate golfer Kipp Schulties, the private par-72 course is open exclusively to members and guests staying at Sunseeker Resort. Each of its 18 holes is named after various aviation terms and features five different teeing selections, providing golfers with options of play from 4,778 to 7,235 yards. Additionally, the course is home to one of the longest par 5s in the state at 650 yards and features a trio of challenging holes dubbed the “Tailspin” that’s sure to keep even the most advanced player on their toes — especially when trying to make par on Hole 16 where the water hazard requires a full carry.
“We’ve built an exceptional private golf experience that pairs well with our one-ofa-kind resort,” said Aaron Merritt, general manager at Aileron Golf Club. “Our team of culinary experts and hospitality professionals provide a day of play that resembles an escape to nature. “Gabe was all around an AMAZING kid. He was so kind, patient, and helpful. I had a very confusing batch of flights to book, and he made it easy. I told him my mother-in-law is very nervous about flying and taking her first flight in over 40 years. He told me to tell her to come find him so he could make sure she was well taken care of.”
“During a long weather delay, we decided to keep the passengers onboard to facilitate a quick departure when conditions allowed. Not only did this crew happily take on the challenge of beating the clock, but they also crushed it! They interacted with the passengers in such fun and creative ways. I have never seen a happier group of passengers.”
2023 CX Celebrity award winners go above and beyond for the customer experience
“We worked an Honor Flight from Bismarck to Baltimore with 180 veterans. Tabitha personally purchased an entire bag of decorations for the aircraft, which included flags, ribbons, bows and signs. Every veteran, their companion, and the Honor Flight coordinators absolutely loved and appreciated all the decorations. Tabitha was also a presence in the aisle talking to veterans, listening to their stories and making sure they were comfortable, she goes above and beyond to make our passengers happy.”

where WISHes COME TRUE
Allegiant’s partnership with Make-A-Wish® Foundation has become the
By Stephanie GaribayYou know that feeling when you’re part of something bigger than yourself? That’s exactly what Allegiant and the Make-A-Wish Foundation have been all about since 2012—a partnership that’s become the talk of the town for all the right reasons.
At the heart of our partnership with Make-AWish lies a simple yet profound mission: to grant life-changing wishes to children battling critical illnesses. Over the years, our commitment to this cause has only deepened and is fueled by a shared belief in the power of a wish.
In 2017, we took our partnership to new heights by donating 7,500 square feet of office space at our Las Vegas headquarters to the local chapter, Make-A-Wish of Southern Nevada. This provided them with a sanctuary to develop their noble mission and freed up vital resources that can be redirected towards granting more wishes. As the foundation settled into their new space, we witnessed firsthand the impact of our contribution as they expanded their reach, touching the lives of even more courageous children and their families.
Because of this, we are able to help kids like Ben, a 14-year-old wish kid, whose wish was to be a pilot. Ben joined two Allegiant captains in the flight deck of the company’s full-motion Airbus simulator, where he “flew” his first flight to Reno, NV.
“They say it takes a village to raise a child but we here at Make-A-Wish, we know it takes a community to grant a wish. So, whether it
talk of the town.
was flying Annabelle into town to be a Vegas Golden Knight or making Ben a pilot, Allegiant continues to be our community by granting wishes for our kiddos and this CEO’s wish, by giving us this incredible and magical place for our Wish Families,” said Scott Rosenzweig, CEO of Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada.
Our support doesn’t end there. On every flight, we offer our passengers the opportunity to be a part of something truly special when purchasing our Wingz Kids Box. For every Wingz Snack Pack purchased, we donate $1 to Make-A-Wish, channeling the collective goodwill of our passengers towards a cause that knows no bounds. Since its inception in 2014, Wingz Snack Packs have become more than just a menu item; they are a tangible reminder of our shared commitment to making dreams a reality.
As we look towards the horizon, our partnership with Make-A-Wish serves as a beacon of hope, illuminating the path towards a future where every child’s dream is within reach. Together, we have witnessed the transformative power of a wish granted, reminding us all that even amidst the clouds, miracles can take flight.
Since 2012, Allegiant has partnered with Make-A-Wish, helping to fulfill the wishes of more than 2,000 children. We are currently a Wish Champion, recognized for making $1 million in annual contributions and the only domestic carrier to feature an aircraft with a Make-A-Wish themed livery.
