Allegiant’s Allways Rewards® and Allways Rewards Visa® card are the perfect travel combination
By Heather Turk
Whether you are hoping to visit out-of-state friends and family members more often in the new year or you just want to see the country, Allegiant is making travel more affordable than ever with its Allways Rewards® loyalty program and Allways Rewards Visa® card.
Since its debut in August 2021, more than 19 million people have joined Allegiant’s Allways Rewards®. Winner of USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Award for Best Frequent Flyer Program in 2024 and 2022, the free rewards program lets members earn one point for every dollar spent on Allegiant or Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor purchases and two points for every dollar spent on Allegiant travel packages over $500 (before taxes and fees). Each point earned is worth a penny, which members can redeem on future Allegiant purchases at any time for any amount. So, members can save up enough points to book their next flight, hotel or rental car on

allegiant.com for free, or redeem their points for as little as $1 off their next booking — the choice is theirs! Since the program is based on points instead of miles, there is no tricky math needed to understand what kind of rewards members are earning.
While points can accumulate fast since Allways Rewards® loyalty program members earn points on any Allegiant purchase made with their account — like their children’s or spouse’s airfare tickets — members can earn points even faster when they apply for the Allways Rewards Visa® card. Winner of USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Award for Best Airline Credit Card for six consecutive years (2019 through 2024), the Allways Rewards Visa® card lets cardholders earn one point for every dollar spent on Allegiant purchases with the Allways Rewards program and earn 3 points for every dollar spent on Allegiant purchases with the Allways Rewards Visa® card, for a total of 4 points earned for every dollar spent with Allegiant. Cardholders earn points when they use their Visa card for everyday purchases, too!
Additional benefits are included with the Allways Rewards Visa® card’s low annual fee as well. Whereas points earned with the Allways Rewards® loyalty program expire after 24 months of inactivity, an Allways Rewards Visa® cardholder’s points don’t expire as long as their Visa account remains open. Additionally, the Allways Rewards Visa® card offers several exclusive benefits that make cardholders feel like a VIP when traveling with Allegiant, including a dedicated customer service phone line, complimentary priority checkin for everyone on the cardholder’s itinerary and a buy-one-get-one-free airfare offer anytime cardholders use their Visa card to purchase a vacation package from Allegiant with four or more hotel nights or seven or more rental car days on the same itinerary. Cardholders simply have to call

Las Vegas restaurants foodies won’t want to miss
By Heather Turk
The dining scene in Las Vegas is flourishing thanks to several recent restaurant additions that are nothing short of exceptional.
EMMITT’S VEGAS
Founded by football great Emmitt Smith, this elevated New American restaurant at Fashion Show is sure to score a touchdown with taste buds. The dinner menu features everything from sushi to steak, with highlights that include a succulent 14-ounce American Wagyu New York Strip, the Chili Roasted Cauliflower tacos and arguably the best Creamed Corn in town. Whatever dishes you decide on, don’t forget to end your meal with Emmitt’s Butter Cake drizzled in bourbonsalted caramel sauce — it’s made from Smith’s own family recipe! emmittsvegas.com
LUCKLEY TAVERN & GRILL
Featuring artwork that pays homage to some of music’s most iconic performers, this laidback eatery inside the Rio Hotel & Casino hits all the right notes with its reinterpretation of classic American cuisine. Guests can start their dinner with the impeccable Roasted Tomato Soup served with a white cheddar grilled cheese sandwich before feasting upon such delightful entrées as the Wood-Fired Salmon or Smoked Short Rib. For those on property to watch a show, an affordable (and filling!) pre-theater prix fixe menu is also
MOTHER WOLF
Already a favorite in Los Angeles, this exquisite Italian restaurant inside Fontainebleau Las Vegas pays homage to classic Roman cuisine. Palates will be wowed by such shareable dinner dishes as the intricate Fiori di Zucca (fried squash blossoms stuffed with ricotta Romana and ParmigianoReggiano), the wood-fired Funghi pizza and the tender Tagliata di Manzo (Prime ribeye cap). Of course, no visit is complete without trying one of chef Evan Funke’s signature pastas, like the delicious Rigatoncini alla Vaccinara made with short rib ragù or the spicy Spaghetti all’Arrabbiata topped with a single diavolicchio pepper. motherwolflv.com

A FEAST FOR THE SENSES
Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion, or you just want to have some fun while you eat, there are several restaurants on the Las Vegas Strip that are known as much for their live entertainment as their flavorful cuisine.
DELILAH
Inspired by Las Vegas’ opulent showrooms in the 1950s, this modern-day supper club inside Wynn Las Vegas serves up one of the Strip’s most elegant dining experiences. Featuring live music nightly starting at 7 p.m. by rotating bands playing everything from jazz to pop music, the restaurant offers a menu of fine dining classics for dinner, from Black Truffle Lobster Rolls to the signature Delilah Beef Wellington for two. There are also more playful dishes available with a gourmet twist, like the tasty Pigs in a Blanket made with wagyu beef franks. For partygoers hungry for a midnight snack, a limited latenight menu is available Thursday through Sunday from 11 p.m. to close. wynnlasvegas. com/dining/fine-dining/delilah

THE MAYFAIR SUPPER CLUB
This glamorous restaurant inside Bellagio perfects the dinner-and-show experience with entertainment that gets livelier throughout the evening, turning into a late-night lounge on Fridays and Saturdays. Guests can listen to live music, watch dancers perform throughout the venue and even see aerialists suspended above their heads while dining on a menu of classic American cuisine for dinner, with favorites that include the Garlic Crusted Prime Rib and the Grilled Kurobuta Pork Chop. Everything is so spectacular that diners may almost forget the dining room overlooks the Fountains of Bellagio. Patrons won’t want to leave! Luckily, the entertainment is different during the restaurant’s swanky Jazz Sundays, so guests have an excuse to return soon. themayfairlv.com
SUPERFRICO
Created by Spiegelworld (“Absinthe”), this wonderfully wacky Italian American restaurant inside The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas cooks up a supper club experience unlike any other. Guests can dine on an assortment of impeccable Italian dishes for dinner, like the Chicken Parm in a spicy marinara or the fresh mozzarella made tableside, while enjoying roaming performances from every type of variety act imaginable — including a twerking furry! A SEASONAL FAVORITE
Discover why the Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is twice as nice in the winter
By Heather Turk
The Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is known for its breathtaking seasonal installations, but winter is the only time of year that the free attraction features two displays.
Every winter, the conservatory hosts two of its most popular installations: a holiday display and a Lunar New Year display. The displays are changed out over the course of six days, with 80 to 100 people working shifts around the clock to install the next design. Once complete, 16 Bellagio gardeners maintain the installation, which can feature anywhere from 10,000 to 15,000 plants — many grown specifically for the attraction. This season’s holiday display will be showcased until Jan. 4, 2025, with the Lunar New Year display on exhibit Jan. 11 through March 1.
“This year’s holiday theme is ‘Twas,’ featuring iconic holiday elements that will remind visitors of holidays past,” said Lea Jonic, the Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Gardens’ project manager. “Inspired by Clement Clarke Moore’s ‘A Visit from St. Nicholas,’ it includes some reimaged popular elements from years past as well as some new spectacular designs to make the storybook scene come to life. Then, the 2025 Lunar New Year display will
showcase the Year of the Snake, with no shortage of majestic elements to ring in the new year.”
While Jonic noted that approximately 10,000 people visit the 14,000-squarefoot conservatory daily, that number often doubles during the holiday display. Further complementing the festive experience is the limited-time food and beverage pop-up, The Peppermint Express, where guests can purchase holiday-inspired treats. During the Lunar New Year installation, visitors will once again be able to dine at The Garden Table located within the conservatory to savor a custom curated menu for the season. Reservations for the exclusive dining experience go fast, so be sure to book yours as soon as possible. bellagio.mgmresorts.com

Terry Fator continues to impress in his new Las Vegas residency
By Heather Turk
Since winning “America’s Got Talent” in 2007, singing comedy ventriloquist Terry Fator has been one of Las Vegas’ most beloved headliners, performing at several properties both on and off the Strip. However, Fator’s new show at The STRAT Hotel, Casino & Tower is undoubtedly his best production yet.
“Terry Fator: One Man, a Hundred Voices, a Thousand Laughs!” debuted this past June inside The STRAT Theater. The immersive, multimedia production showcases Fator and his hilarious cast of characters like never before thanks to several video screens located around the showroom. Fator said that he had been dreaming about performing
Fator said that his annual holiday show, “A Very Terry Christmas,” is “an epic spectacular” this year
in a state-of-the-art theater that allowed for more showstopping moments, and truly pushed his talent to the “absolute limits” when writing the show.
“As close as a week before my opening, I questioned whether or not I would be able to do what I had planned, but I kept working to make sure I was able to fulfill my pledge to myself and my fans to make this the most amazing show I’ve ever done,” Fator said. “I truly believe I have succeeded.”
One number in the show, where Fator performs “We Are the World,” took 10 years for Fator to perfect the 19 voices featured in the song. Fator also spent several years working on a multimedia “Bohemian Rhapsody” number that features a brandnew Freddie Mercury puppet.
“Terry Fator: One Man, a Hundred Voices, a Thousand Laughs!” performs select evenings at 5 p.m. Through Dec. 24, Fator will be performing a special holiday show inspired by classic Bing Crosby and Andy Williams Christmas specials. Regardless of which production audiences see, Fator hopes that fans will “have a lot of laughs, and feel a lot of heart and joy that stays with them long after they leave the theater.” terryfator.com
Fator said his recent move to The STRAT allowed him “to create a brand-new experience for the fans in a theater that had all the latest technology”

Recent Las Vegas show additions worthy of a standing ovation
By Heather Turk
Las Vegas continues to live up to its reputation as the Entertainment Capital of the World thanks to several new shows in town that audiences won’t want to miss.
“COLIN CLOUD: MASTERMIND”
“America’s Got Talent” Season 12 semifinalist, Colin Cloud kicked off his show at Harrah’s Las Vegas last July. Widely regarded as a real-life Sherlock Holmes, the charismatic Scottish mentalist puts on one of the Strip’s most entertaining — and astonishing — productions. Whether he is influencing an audience member’s decisions to help them deduce the code to unlock his iPhone or reading people’s minds to reveal a lie they once told, Cloud’s jaw-dropping abilities are sure to leave ticket holders of all ages in disbelief. colincloud.com

From Spiegelworld, the creative geniuses behind Las Vegas’ acrobatic spectaculars “Absinthe” and “Atomic Saloon Show,” comes an entertainment experience unlike any other on the Strip. Shin Lim recently reappeared at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas with an all-new version of the hit production he’s performed at The Mirage since 2019. A TIMELESS CLASSIC
31 years later, ‘Mystère’ is still a Vegas favorite
By Heather Turk
Celebrating its 31st anniversary this winter, Cirque du Soleil’s “Mystère” continues to be one of Las Vegas’ most spectacular productions.
Since its premiere on Dec. 25, 1993, more than 17 million people have seen the jawdropping show at Treasure Island Hotel & Casino. Considered by many to be the quintessential Cirque du Soleil show, “Mystère” features some of the world’s most talented acrobats — including Chinese pole and trapeze artists — performing astonishing physical feats while a live band and colorful characters help set the tone for the whimsical production. Ticket holders’ mouths are sure to be agape as they watch each acrobatic act, particularly “Mystère’s” first female hand-to-hand balancing duo, the Kolev Sisters, who joined the production in 2021.
Whether it’s your first time seeing the show or you’re a longtime fan, the best way to experience “Mystère” is by booking its VIP Experience. Not only do VIP guests get to watch the show from some of the best seats in the house while enjoying a complimentary snack and beverage of their choosing, but they also get to go on a guided backstage tour before the show begins. Along the way, they’ll learn a variety of fun facts about the production — like how one of its band members, saxophonist Marc Solis, and one of its bungee artists, Magalie Drolet, have been

Concert residencies heating up Las Vegas’ entertainment scene this winter
The temperature outside may be chilly (by Vegas standards, at least), but the entertainment forecast in Las Vegas is hotter than ever this winter thanks to several big-name music acts performing residencies both on and off the Strip.
Fontainebleau Las Vegas’ BleauLive Theater is the latest Strip venue to feature ongoing concert residencies, with country music superstar Keith Urban’s third Las Vegas residency — “Keith Urban’s HIGH in Vegas” — having debuted at the theater this past October. Returning Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, Feb. 14 through 22, 2025, the show features many of Urban’s No. 1 hits over the years, including “Somebody Like You,” as well as several songs from his new album “HIGH.” Before Urban takes the stage, though, Pitbull will return with his latest Las Vegas residency, “Pitbull: Vegas After Dark The Residency.” Performing Jan. 24 and 25, 2025, the high-energy show premiered in November and features the “Fireball” rapper performing his greatest hits backed by his incredible band, The Agents, and his dynamic dancers, The Most Bad Ones. fontainebleaulasvegas.com

“Black Eyed Peas: 3008 The Las Vegas Residency” will feature the group’s current lineup of Taboo, will.i.am and apl.de.ap
Pop/R&B icon Janet Jackson also has a new residency on the Strip. Kicking off New Year’s Week at the Resorts World Theatre inside Resorts World Las Vegas, “Janet Jackson: Las Vegas” will run Dec. 30 and 31, 2024, Jan. 3 and 4, and Feb. 5, 7, 8, 12, 14 and 15, 2025. The show marks Jackson’s second residency in Las Vegas and promises to be a concert experience that fans of the “Rhythm Nation” singer won’t want to miss. rwlasvegas.com

NOT YOUR AVERAGE CARNIVAL RIDE
‘SpongeBob’s Crazy Carnival Ride’ will wow ride enthusiasts of all ages
By Heather Turk
One of 2024’s coolest new rides isn’t located at some Southern California or Orlando theme park — it’s located on the Las Vegas Strip.
Last March, Circus Circus Las Vegas welcomed “SpongeBob’s Crazy Carnival Ride” to its collection of family-friendly attractions. Created by Sally Dark Rides, the $6 million interactive attraction took 14 months to construct and takes riders on a sensory-engaging journey through Bikini Bottom. As riders test their luck at five of Mr. Krabs’ digital, midway-style games — like the fun onion “Ring Toz” — they’ll travel past animatronics of their favorite “SpongeBob SquarePants” characters. One of the ride’s most impressive animatronics features SpongeBob grilling some Krabby Patties, complete with the smell of fresh-grilled hamburgers in the air!
“This is a fun ride for all ages,” said Shana Gerety, Circus Circus Las Vegas’ general manager. “A big plus is kids 36 to 42 inches tall are free, so mom and dad can have fun while showing off SpongeBob to their child.”
The six-minute ride concludes with guests trying to stop the power-hungry Plankton from stealing the Krabby Patty secret formula. The separately ticketed attraction

is located across from the entrance to the resort’s 5-acre indoor amusement park, The Adventuredome, and even has its own gift shop selling “SpongeBob SquarePants” toys, apparel and accessories.
“SpongeBob’s Crazy Carnival Ride” is one of several new rides the property has welcomed in recent years. The Grand Slam Canyon Express Train also opened last March, taking passengers on a ride around The Adventuredome. Other recent Adventuredome ride additions include Twistin’ Tea Cups and the thrilling NebulaZ. With more than 25 rides and attractions located inside The Adventuredome alone — including the world’s only indoor doubleloop, double-corkscrew roller coaster, Canyon Blaster — it’s no wonder Circus Circus Las Vegas is a favorite with kids and kids at heart. circuscircus.com

AN ENLIGHTENING EXPERIENCE
The Neon Museum shines a spotlight on the history of Las Vegas
By Heather Turk
“Brilliant! Jackpot” is the largest augmented reality experience of its kind
One of downtown Las Vegas’ most popular attractions is constantly shedding a new light on Las Vegas’ storied past.
Located next to Cashman Field, The Neon Museum collects, preserves, studies and exhibits classic Las Vegas signs for educational, historical, artistic and cultural enrichment. More than 250 signs that were once featured around the city can be viewed at the museum’s outdoor exhibition space, the Neon Boneyard, with new signs frequently being added to the collection. While most of the signs are dramatically lit from the ground at night, the Neon Boneyard does have more than 25 restored signs that visitors can see re-illuminated once the sun goes down. Recent re-illuminated additions include three historic neon pieces from the Flamingo Las Vegas, including the 1976 roadside pylon sign originally installed on East Flamingo Road, and the Debbie Reynolds Hollywood Hotel “Debbie” sign.
Visitors can learn more about the signs by booking a guided tour of the Neon Boneyard. Several different tours are now available to guests, like the 45-minute Viva Las Vegas Movies Tour that debuted in October 2023. Offered in the
winter nightly at 6:30 p.m., the tour covers various movies that were filmed in Las Vegas over the years. Guests will see the Lady Luck Hotel & Casino sign Cousin Vicki danced on while filming “Vegas Vacation,” the Hard Rock Cafe sign that was featured in “Honey, I Blew Up the Kid” and even the La Concha Motel lobby showcased in “Casino.”
The Neon Museum is also home to the 360-degree audiovisual experience “’Brilliant!’ Jackpot,” which uses projection mapping technology to “re-illuminate” more than 40 nonoperational signs in its North Gallery. The 45-minute show has been a huge hit since premiering in 2018, and further cements The Neon Museum’s status as one of Las Vegas’ most illuminating attractions. neonmuseum.org

Shop locally handmade and curated goods at Market in the Alley
By Heather Turk
On average, more than 2,000 people of all ages visit each Market in the Alley event
Whether you’re shopping for someone on your holiday gift-giving list or you just want a unique keepsake for yourself, there’s arguably no better place to shop local in Las Vegas than Market in the Alley.
Founded in 2017, Market in the Alley has grown over the years from showcasing the wares of 18 local vendors in the Fergusons Downtown alley to hosting anywhere from 50 to 100 local vendors at each event. Approximately 40 Market in the Alleys are held at various locations throughout Las Vegas each year, including its new larger flagship location in the downtown Las Vegas Arts District.
“Vegas is a great place for shopping, but what sets Market in the Alley apart is that we curate an experience that’s authentically Las Vegas,” said Market in the Alley’s founder, Jen Taler. “It’s truly unique and something special to our city and the local creatives within it.”
Almost none of Market in the Alley’s vendors have brick-and-mortar locations. Most of the vendors are professional market vendors who also sell their products online on Etsy or at other local shops — like Taler’s co-op boutique in downtown Las Vegas, Akin Cooperative. While vendors change at each event, shoppers are likely to find a variety of handmade wares, vintage clothing and décor, art, jewelry, plants, body care items and packaged food goods for sale. Live music is also featured at each event, and there are food trucks at the Arts District Market in the Alley.
“I felt like there was a need for this, not because there weren’t spaces for people to shop local artisans — like farmers markets — but at that time, I wasn’t seeing a place where people could shop and get to know artisans during the day and have that kind of artisan market that I so often saw in other cities and
countries,” Taler stated. “Market in the Alley is really about showcasing the local talent and being an environment that sets the tone for people to come in excited to look around, shop and connect with the artist.”
Upcoming Market in the Alley events will take place in the Arts District Dec. 15, 2024, and Feb. 16, 2025, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., transforming a large lot on Imperial Avenue and Main Street into what Taler called, a “market oasis.” During the months of December and February, shoppers can also attend Market in the Alley events on select Sundays at UnCommons in southwest Las Vegas, The Village of Centennial Springs in northwest Las Vegas and The District at Green Valley Ranch in Henderson. Additionally, a special Market in the Alley will be held at Downtown Summerlin in December. All events are free to attend. marketinthealley.com

The Scottsdale Show celebrates 70 years
By Sean Davies
The wild west of yore is alive and well in Scottsdale. Beyond the rustic saloons and adobe storefronts of Old Town, the adventure and excitement of the American frontier can be found at Westworld Scottsdale February 13-23, when the facility hosts the 70th Anniversary of the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show.
Since 1955, the annual Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show has been a world leader in showcasing the majesty of the Arabian horse breed. Nearly 2,400 horses are brought from around the world to compete for a chance at winning cash prizes in several competitions.
The Scottsdale Show is the best place to see the power, intelligence and grace of the Arabian horse on full display, as they gallop, jump, trot and dance across the arenas inside Westworld Scottsdale. It’s a visual spectacle, as riders adorn costumes in various categories, from the traditional Arabian Native ensembles celebrating the breeds’ historic roots in the Arabian Peninsula, to the top hats and tailcoats of the English Show class and classic American cowboy hats of traditional Western riders.
Visitors can watch live demonstrations of ferrying, horse care and even meet some of the competitors in between events. Vendors, selling everything from tack and bridle to furniture and fine art, fill the grounds. Food and drink are supplied in spades, making Westworld a one stop shop for dining, shopping and entertainment.
As the Scottsdale Show will be celebrating its platinum anniversary, there has never been a better time to experience the event. From its humble beginnings at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel, the show has only grown and improved. The Scottsdale Show now stands as a local tradition, bringing not only tourists, but supportive city denizens to the grounds of the massive event center.
Even after The Show ends, Scottsdale still sings with stories of the riders, ranchers and wranglers who’ve traipsed upon its desert floor. On a self guided tour through Old Town, the history of the west can be gleaned by taking in the classic architecture. Many of the city’s first buildings, including the first schoolhouse, post office and saloon, still stand, like monuments to the indomitable Western spirit. scottsdaleshow.com

TEEING UP IN PHOENIX

Golf some of the nation’s best desert courses in Phoenix
Phoenix’s sunny days and desert courses attract golfers from around the world. With nearly 200 courses to choose from in Greater Phoenix, there are certain stand outs delivering exciting play for every golfer, from beginner to pro.
TPC SCOTTSDALE
Anyone can play a round or two at the Tournament Players Club (TPC) Scottsdale, home to the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Golfers who want to test themselves on the same holes the pros do can book a tee time on the Stadium Course yearround (except the week of the tournament). For those who prefer a more laid-back experience, the Champions Course was designed to accommodate all skill levels and showcase the desert’s natural ravines and foothills. Rates start at $229 for a midweek round on the Champions Course in December. tpc.com/scottsdale
WHIRLWIND GOLF CLUB
Located at Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass, the Whirlwind Golf Club offers two courses: Devil’s Claw and Cattail. The older Devil’s Claw Course features rolling but forgiving fairways while the Cattail Course, named for the cattails lining its desert streams, challenges with significant elevation changes, deep canyons and lakes. Not surprisingly, Cattail hosted the PGA Nationwide Insurance Tour’s Gila River Golf Classic for five years. Both courses were respectfully designed to honor the Gila River

TROON NORTH GOLF CLUB
Nationally recognized as one of the best golf courses in the state, Troon North Golf Club’s Monument and Pinnacle courses weave their way through giant granite boulders and over the foothills of Pinnacle Peak. Deciding between the two isn’t easy. Holes on both courses have spectacular views and require precise ball placement to avoid losing a ball in the desert. However, Monument’s wider fairways offer a little more grace, while Pinnacle boasts the club’s signature Hole 10. Rates start at $229 for a midweek round in December. troonnorthgolf.com
WE-KO-PA GOLF CLUB
Unlike most golf clubs in the Phoenix area, We-Ko-Pa Golf Club is surrounded entirely by desert; no homes, businesses or roads border its Saguaro and Cholla courses. Casual golfers tend to prefer Saguaro for its walkable, open fairways while Cholla’s target-style play will challenge low handicap golfers. Rates for play through January 9 are $219, then jump to $299. Arizona residents receive a significant discount. wekopa.com
WASTE MANAGEMENT PHOENIX OPEN
Held at the TPC Scottsdale Stadium, this year’s Waste Management Phoenix Open tournament begins February 6 and concludes February 9. UP, UP & AWAY
Take flight hundreds of feet above the Arizona desert
By Teresa Bitler
Flights take off at sunrise throughout the year and sunset seasonally
Allegiant passengers know how breathtaking the Sonoran Desert can be from the air, but cruising among the clouds doesn’t compare to gliding over it a few hundred feet off the ground on a hot air balloon ride.
THE BASICS
Several hot air balloon companies, including Rainbow Ryders and Hot Air Expeditions, offer rides in Phoenix. Most balloons lift off yearround at sunrise and seasonal winter rides at sunset. While sunrise and sunset determine launch time, the departure location depends on the wind and is determined last minute.
To ride in a hot air balloon, passengers must be at least 5 years old and able to stand unassisted for the flight’s duration, usually an hour. They must also be able to climb in and out of the basket. Typically, balloon companies don’t set weight limits, but some charge an extra fee for those over 300 lbs. For liability issues, pregnant women are not allowed to fly.
THE FLIGHT
Companies provide a meeting place, then shuttle passengers to the city’s outskirts where they unpack the balloon and inflate it. There, passengers meet their pilot and other riders.
Because hot air balloons move with the wind, passengers can’t feel or hear air movement. At first, pilots stay at lower altitudes, pointing out cacti, javelinas, coyotes and more. Then, balloons ascend to up to 3,000 feet in the air for views of the city and surrounding desert.
All along, chase teams follow, and when the pilot chooses a place to descend, the team arrives first to set up for the post-flight festivities.
POST FLIGHT
After exiting the basket, passengers participate in a champagne (or non-alcoholic beverage) toast, and first-time flyers will receive a Certificate d’Ascension En Machine Aerostatique indicating they have joined the ranks of ballooners. Generally, a light, sit-down meal follows before passengers are shuttled back to their cars.
A hot air balloon ride in Phoenix will cost about $200 per passenger. Children generally cost about $50 less. Private rides can cost three times more per person. Reservations for any flight are required. For more information, contact a Phoenix-area hot air balloon company. rainbowryders.com

Experience a variety of cuisines with three James Beard winning chefs in the greater Phoenix area
By Teresa Bitler
Phoenix has been a foodie destination for years, but now, its chefs are getting the national recognition they deserve. In the last five years, three chefs have been recognized as the best in the Southwest.
BACANORA
In 2024, chef Rene Andrade became Phoenix’s most recent James Beard Best Chef Southwest winner, earning accolades for cooking everything over the open flame of Bacanora’s wood-fired Santa Maria grill. And that means everything. Andrade, who grew up on the Mexican side of Nogales, sears meats, roasts vegetables and fruit, griddles tortillas and simmers pots of beans over the flame.
The menu at Bacanora is purely Sonoran with several core dishes, including elote and a carne asada burrito, available nightly. Other
PIZZERIA BIANCO
Technically, chef Chris Bianco isn’t a recent Best Chef Southwest winner. He won in 2003 for his woodfired pizzas, which have been credited for starting the artisanal pizza movement. However, in 2022, Bianco took home the James Beard Award for Outstanding Restauranteur after he added restaurants Pane Bianco and Tratto to his lineup.
Foodies wanting to sample Bianco’s cuisine should head to his original restaurant, the 40-seat Pizzeria Bianco at Heritage Square. Popular offerings include the Biancoverde made with fresh mozzarella, Parmigiano-Reggiano, ricotta and argula and the Wiseguy, topped with wood-roasted onion, house-smoked mozzarella and fennel sausage. The Margherita pizza is always a good option, too. pizzeriabianco.com

Dubbed the “veggie whisperer,” chef
Charleen Badman won Best Chef Southwest in 2019 for her culinary prowess at FnB, the Scottsdale restaurant she co-owns with Pavle Milic. The two believe strongly in using locally-sourced products, from the veggies and meats Badman cooks to the Arizona wines Milic pours, including vintages from his own Los Milics Vineyards.
The menu at FnB rotates, but try the nationally-acclaimed braised leeks topped with mozzarella, mustard, breadcrumbs and an egg, sunny side up, if available. Romantic activities in Napa Valley
By Heather Turk
Known for its breathtaking scenery and world-class wine, Napa Valley is the perfect place for a romantic getaway.
Couples can book a wine tasting inside an authentically styled 14th century Tuscan castle at Castello di Amorosa. Translated in English to the “castle of love,” the 136,000-square-foot castle and winery in Calistoga offers a variety of tastings and tours, including a Cheese & Charcuterie Wine Pairing Tour that includes a guided tour of the castle’s state-of-the-art production area and armory. A great place to pop the question, Castello di Amorosa has been the site of countless marriage proposals since opening to the public in 2007. castellodiamorosa.com
Napa Valley Gondola’s scenic cruises on the Napa River are another area favorite with couples. River otter and seal sightings are common during the 55-minute voyage aboard an authentic Venetian gondola, where a gondolier will help set the mood for romance by singing romantic Italian songs. From Feb. 8 through 16, 2025,
special Valentine’s Day packages will be offered (weather permitting) that include live musicians accompanying the gondolier, wine served in keepsake flutes and a rose. During standard cruises, guests are encouraged to bring their own vino. napavalleygondola.com
When it’s time to eat, romance is always on the menu at Bottega. Part of Estate Yountville’s festival-style shopping center, V Marketplace, the warm and rustic restaurant showcases the bold Italian flavors of late chef Michael Chiarello (Emmy-winning host of Food Network’s “Easy Entertaining”) with a refined twist. Guests can share an assortment of delectable dishes for lunch or dinner — like the dinner-exclusive Bistecca alla Fiorentina — inside the dining room or next to one of two stone fireplaces located on the patio. For couples visiting on Valentine’s Day, guests typically receive long stem roses, and there are some menu additions with a focus on love. botteganapavalley.com

Tucked away in the Club Trinidad Hotel, the Purple Room is the desert’s premier supper club, where upscale food and drink are complemented with live music six nights a week. This is one of the few remaining venues in Palm Springs where Frank and the Rat Pack could be found playing around both on and off the stage. purpleroompalmsprings.com
SHERMAN’S DELI
Though he left the Big Apple for the west in the 50s, Frank was still known to chow down on a New York deli sandwich, courtesy of Sherman’s Deli. Known for sky high piles of pastrami and succulent roast brisket, Sherman’s has been a fixture in the desert city since 1963, when its original location opened across from the Spa Hotel. Besides being a local favorite, it’s also been a noted hang-out for more than a few celebrities, including Zsa Zsa Gabor, Bob Hope and of course, Sinatra. shermansdeli.com

Colorado Winter Brews in Denver
It’s no secret that Denver has some of the best craft breweries in the country, and while most people think a beer is best enjoyed on a hot summer’s day, there’s something magical about sipping a thick stout next to a roaring fire during the Colorado winter. Many of the breweries in town make seasonal brews that are only available in the winter months, the best time of year to take in the snow-capped mountains!
Head to Denver Beer Co., where they’ve taken an award-winning beer, the Graham Cracker Porter, and added a scoop of peanut butter to create the delicious Peanut Butter Graham Cracker Porter! This seasonal winter brew brings heavy malt flavors such as the peanut butter and graham cracker, as well as caramel and chocolate. You can only enjoy this porter from November through February. denverbeerco.com

Next, set your sights on Great Divide Brewing Co., where you’ll find two winter beers. For the heavier of the two, they partnered with local Laws Whiskey House to create the Barrel-Aged Yeti Imperial Stout. This 12.5% ABV brew is aged for 12 months in whiskey barrels, giving it notes of roasted vanilla and oak. Then, there’s the Hibernation Ale, an English-Style Old Ale that has been a winter tradition since 1995. This dry and robust ale forgoes the holiday spices in exchange for a malty richness. greatdivide.com
If you’re at all familiar with beer from Denver, then you’ve probably heard of Odell Brewing Company. It’s no surprise that such a large brewer has three different seasonal winter ales, ranging from a sour to a malty ale. The Sippin’ Blackberry Sour Ale is slightly tart, uniquely flavored with a bit of Himalayan pink sea salt and is only available from November through March. If sours aren’t your thing, then try the St. Lupulin, a dry Extra Pale Ale that was brewed in honor of the legendary figure. You can only find it on tap from January through March. Lastly, there’s the Isolation Ale, a “Classic Winter Warmer” that gets caramel notes from the malt but ends in a crisp finish. odellbrewing.com

TRAVELER INFORMATION
SAFETY FIRST
Customer safety is Allegiant®’s first concern. Please be advised that interference with the duties of crew members, including flight attendants, is a violation of federal laws. Our crews are thoroughly trained in all safety procedures. To ensure your own safety, we hope you take a moment to review the safety information card located in the seat pocket in front of you. Be aware of the following:
• Location of the nearest emergency exit
• Location of your emergency oxygen mask, if needed
• Correct procedure for exiting the cabin in an emergency
SEAT BELTS
Seat belts must be fastened ANY TIME the seat belt sign is on, during taxi, takeoff and landing. Once the seat belt sign is turned off, you may walk around the cabin. Due to unexpected turbulence, it is strongly recommended that you keep your seat belt fastened any time while in your seat. Allegiant’s exit seating policy does not allow the use of seat belt extensions in the exit seats due to tripping hazards.
CHILD RESTRAINT SEATS
Federal Aviation Administration requires that all child restraint seats used on planes meet federal safety standards. Acceptable seats bear proper labeling “THIS RESTRAINT IS CERTIFIED FOR USE IN MOTOR VEHICLES AND AIRCRAFT" from the manufacturer. Unlabeled seats or seats manufactured before Jan. 1, 1981, are not acceptable. Child restraint seats are to be placed into a window seat and secured with an aircraft seat belt.
PHOTOS & VIDEOS ONBOARD
The use of small cameras or mobile devices for photography and video is permitted onboard provided you keep the purpose of your photography and video to capturing personal events. Photographing or recording other customers or airline personnel without their express consent is prohibited. Airline personnel reserve the right to prohibit photos and videos onboard the aircraft if it becomes a disturbance to them or other passengers.
ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES
Allegiant is forbidden to serve alcoholic beverages to anyone who appears to be intoxicated or who has not yet reached the age of 21. It is a violation of federal regulations to drink alcoholic beverages during a flight unless they have been served by Allegiant personnel.
SMOKING
Smoking, the use of other tobacco products, e-cigarettes and other similar smoking devices are not permitted on any Allegiant flight. Federal law imposes fines of $1,000 for smoking and up to $2,000 for any attempt to disable an aircraft smoke detector.

CUSTOMER SERVICE WEEK
Allegiant team members recognize acts of service
Customer Service Week, typically celebrated in the first full week of October, is a time dedicated to recognizing and honoring the invaluable contributions of our team members as they assist and support our customers. While we strive to deliver safe, affordable and reliable service year-round, Customer Service Week serves as a reminder of the critical role that service plays in the success in building relationships with our customers, our partners and fellow Allegiant team members.
For 2024 Customer Service Week, we wanted to empower our team members to recognize each other’s customer service contributions across our network. Through our recognition platform, they sent each other custom badges to honor and appreciate one another’s demonstration of our service standards. Here are a few examples:
Dawn, Station Agent (HGR)
“The teamwork you give is impeccable! When you see a customer that needs to buy a ticket or a passenger that just needs a little extra time and patience, you offer your assistance immediately. I am so grateful to be on a team with you.”
Ivy, Flight Attendant (SFB)
“Ivy was absolutely spectacular! Several passengers were a little nervous about flying, but she made everyone comfortable and had people smiling and laughing the whole trip. She is amazing! Thank you for being so great. I appreciate you and your dedication to our passengers.”
Sal, Customer Care Coordinator (HQ)
“I wanted to recognize Sal’s hard work and dedication. He is crucial to Customer Care’s
operation, and his positive demeanor is contagious. He demonstrates all of Allegiant’s core values and is always happy to extend a hand when needed. It is truly an honor to work beside him. Thank you for everything you do and for your optimistic attitude.”
Jeff – Senior Tech (LAS)
“Jeff needs to be recognized as a valuable team member and mechanic. Jeff ensures all his work is completed and properly documented on each task. He also stays over to give a thorough turnover to oncoming shift techs, regardless of his personal plans. Jeff is always ready to help out to ensure planes are safe and ready for an on-time departure. You are appreciated.”
These are just a few examples of times our team members have contributed to our customers’ experiences. Ultimately, Customer Service Week is a celebration of connection — between Allegiant team members, customers and the values that drive our passion for travel.

Allegiant’s Commitment to Disaster Relief
By Stephanie Garibay
Disasters — whether they’re hurricanes, wildfires or earthquakes — demand swift action. That’s why Allegiant prioritizes partnerships with nonprofit organizations such as the American Red Cross and Airlink.
During times of crisis, such as hurricanes Helene and Milton, these partnerships become a network that strengthens the company’s community support capabilities.
After the devastating effects of those two hurricanes, Allegiant donated $25,000 in Allways Rewards® points to Airlink, a humanitarian organization that provides airlift support during crisis. Through this partnership, we enable Airlink to fly in trained specialists to assess damage, restore homes and businesses and provide vital relief to disaster-affected communities.
Our focus on disaster relief reflects the company’s commitment to enabling community safety, preparedness and recovery, a core pillar of our corporate philanthropy. It’s about being there when it matters most.
Whether it’s assisting in evacuations for our team members or donating flights, every flight
we conduct for disaster relief has a purpose rooted in compassion and care.
Allegiant recently entered into a partnership with Airlink which will provide critical airlift of personnel and supplies. To learn more about how you can support Airlink’s disaster relief efforts, visit donorbox.org/allegianthurricanes-2024.
