Home to 90 golf courses, Myrtle Beach consistently scores a hole-in-one with golfers thanks to its gorgeous (and challenging!) greens. It doesn’t matter which region of the Grand Strand golfers are visiting, there’s always a course nearby that’s been ranked among America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses by Golf Digest.
One of the Grand Strand’s most awarded courses, this par-70 course was the first solo design of renowned golf course architect Mike Strantz. Golfers will feel like they’re playing in a garden while on the lush property, which features oak trees, Spanish moss and blooming azaleas in addition to meandering streams. All tee markers on the course are duck decoys, a throwback to a time when the property was used for hunting and fishing, and the course measures 6,526 yards from the Championship Pintail tees. caledoniagolfandfishclub.com
Overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway, this par-72 course by Roger Rulewich recently completed a four-month renovation of its greens, bunkers and clubhouse. Improvements included new TifEagle ultradwarf bermudagrass greens that added nearly 40,000 square feet of putting surface that had been lost over time and
an all-new tapas-style restaurant. Boasting seven holes that play along the waterway, the 7,578-yard course has one of the area’s most striking layouts. grandedunesgolf.com
Renowned for its beauty, this 7,044-yard, par-72 course by Ken Tomlinson features nine holes that play along either Cherry Grove Inlet or the Intracoastal Waterway. The four holes that play along Cherry Grove are among some of the prettiest in South Carolina, particularly the par-4 fourth hole — a gentle dogleg left that borders the water. The spectacular scenery is complemented by the strength of the layout’s inland holes and a level of customer service that rivals what golfers would find at a private club. tidewatergolf.com
No trip to Memphis is complete without trying some of the delicious barbecue Tennessee is known for. As the hardwood capital of the world, Memphis has access to some of the most sought-after woods, perfect for flavoring delectable slowcooked meat.
Family-run Rendezvous has been using its signature dry rub on its ribs for more than 70 years. Combining Greek and Cajun spices, the seasoning was first added to the charcoal smoked ribs back in the 1950s when proprietor Charlie Vergos needed to diversify his menu. The ribs were a hit, helping the business grow from a basement retreat for working men hankering for ham sandwiches to a Memphis barbecue institution. Now both the rub and sauce are available for purchase. hogsfly.com
The first place in Memphis to serve barbecue pizza also happens to be the oldest restaurant in the city. Celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, Coletta’s Italian Restaurant added barbecue to pizza in the 1950s to encourage locals to try what was then considered a rare and exotic European dish. The food quickly caught on, even capturing the heart of the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, who considered Coletta’s BBQ Memphis-Style Pizza a personal favorite. While the famed pizza’s sauce isn’t sold to go, the pizza is, and can be enjoyed at home for breakfast, lunch and dinner. colettas.net
Though it has only been open since 2002, Central BBQ has already become one of the top spots for barbecue in Memphis, providing a variety of BBQ choices. Created by two barbecue competition veterans, Central BBQ’s secret is in their intricate dry rubs and hickory and pecan fueled pits. While the meat is good enough on its own, the BBQ Nachos elevate the slow-smoked pulled pork, beef brisket or chicken by placing it on a bed of tortilla chips topped with BBQ sauce, cheese sauce, shredded cheese, jalapeños and finished off with a light dusting of BBQ Shake. eatcbq.com

Known for its abundance of outdoor recreation opportunities, Carter County is the perfect place to rediscover the wilderness.
Located in Northeast Tennessee, much of Carter County is covered by the Cherokee National Forest. The Appalachian Trail runs throughout Carter County, and the area boasts two beautiful state parks.
At Roan Mountain State Park, guests can go fishing for trout in the cool, clear Doe River; see an abundance of wildflowers and wildlife, including white-tailed deer and black bears; and book a tour of The Miller House, a preserved 1908 farmhouse that shows how folks used to live in the mountains. On June 17 and 18, park guests can also attend the 76th Rhododendron Festival, featuring over 100 arts and crafts vendors, music, food and an array of old-time folkway demonstrations. The annual event celebrates the world’s largest natural rhododendron gardens, located atop Roan Mountain, which usually hit peak bloom in mid to late June. tnstateparks.com/parks/roanmountain

One of Punta Gorda’s newest attractions offers animal lovers an enlightening experience unlike any other.
Once the site of a commercial reptile breeding farm, Iguanaland boasts more than 200 species of reptiles — including many rare and endangered species. Opened in Feb. 2002, the multiacre attraction was born out of the idea to create an interactive, educational space to highlight iguanas and other reptiles while also raising funds for a variety of organizations that support iguana conservation in their natural habitats.
“Here in Southwest Florida, we have been able to take advantage of the beautiful climate and build an extraordinary collection of reptiles unlike anything else in the world,” said Anna Meyer, operations manager at Iguanaland. “Whether you’re already a reptile lover or you’re afraid of snakes, we are here to share these animals and their unique way of life with you.”
In addition to housing more than 20 species of iguanas, Iguanaland is home to numerous snakes, monitor lizards, tortoises and the largest collection of freshwater turtle species in the country. Visitors can learn more about the remarkable reptiles at informative zookeeper talks held throughout the day, or by booking the park’s popular Animal Encounter experience for an additional fee.
Priced at $15 per person, the 20- to 30-minute interaction lets guests get up close to some of Iguanaland’s inhabitants, like Aly the Aldabra giant tortoise, Dexter the Asian water monitor or Donkey Kong the endangered rhinoceros iguana. VIP walking tours led by one of Iguanaland’s expert zookeepers can also be purchased in advance and include multiple animal encounters as well as an amazing look at the park behind the scenes.
Iguanaland is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. General admission tickets range from $15 to $25, with children younger than 2 admitted for free. iguanaland.com
Given its location along Florida’s Southwest Gulf Coast, it should come as no surprise that Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach is home to several delectable restaurants known for their fresh seafood.
Specializing in Caribbean cuisine with a Southern twist, this Englewood eatery on Ainger Creek receives fresh seafood deliveries every Monday through Saturday. Whole fish can be baked or fried, with the baked fish deboned and plated tableside after it is cooked. Options often include hogfish, yellowtail snapper and golden tilefish. Hurricane Ian may have left its mark on Fort Myers, but several area attractions have resumed operations after weathering the storm.
Following a massive volunteer cleanup and fundraising effort that had 177 volunteers put in more than 800 hours of work, Wonder Gardens in Bonita Springs has reopened to the public. While some areas of the 87-year-old botanical attraction remain closed, like the Welcome Center which is scheduled to reopen later this summer after a large tree landed on the south side of the building and nearly 6 inches of storm surge flooded it, the gardens are open. Several animal encounters have resumed as well where visitors can get up close to some of the refuge’s 300 rescued, rehabilitated and non-releasable animals, like its Sulcata tortoises, American alligators and lorikeets. wondergardens.org
With the Sanibel Causeway reopening to the public earlier this year, Captiva Cruises is once again offering limited cruises around Southwest Florida. Lee County’s first and largest brewery, Fort Myers Brewing Co., is also back open for business. Known for its signature line of flagship beers, seasonal brews and small-batch specialties, the brewery reopened about a week after Hurricane Ian hit. Its owner, Rob Whyte, did whatever he could to support those not as fortunate, from turning the brewery’s food truck into a mobile laundromat for hurricane victims to holding a benefit to collect donations for local musicians. Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, Fort Myers Brewing Co. will host several special events throughout the summer, including its annual Summer Beer Fest June 15 through 18 where guests can enjoy live music, food trucks and specialty brews. fmbrew.com
Of course, nothing says a destination is on the road to recovery quite like a new business opening. Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurants opened its 54th location nationwide in Fort Myers in April. Magnificent Weeki Wachee Springs State Park, a one-hour drive north of Tampa, is one of Florida’s most iconic and unique family roadside attractions and home to world-famous mermaids.
The legendary mermaids who inhabit the natural spring, have charmed millions of visitors and entertained families since 1947.
These busy mermaids perform two to three shows daily, 365 days a year, weather permitting. The shows last approximately 30 minutes and are beautifully choreographed to children’s fairy tale soundtracks and popular music. Gracefully gliding and twirling, the mermaids weave their magic as they perform underwater feats including eating and drinking while never surfacing for air.

The only neighborhood on Florida’s west coast designated a National Historic Landmark District, Ybor City, is known for its Cuban roots. The vibrant Latin Quarter is home to a genuine piece of Cuban territory, José Martí Park, which guests can visit by taking Tampa’s free TECO Line Streetcar (tecolinestreetcar. org) to the Cadrecha Plaza Station. Dedicated to the memory of the poet, journalist and firebrand who led Cuba’s revolution against Spanish rule in the 1880s and 1890s, the park is owned by the people of Cuba and features marked plots of earth from different parts of the island.
Visitors can learn more about Ybor City by booking a guided tour with Tampa Bay Tours. Ybor City Historical Walking Tours are offered daily at 11 a.m., showcasing the neighborhood’s beautiful social clubs as well as many other buildings dating back to the late 1800s and early 1900s. Nightly ghost tours are offered at 8 p.m., too, where guests will learn about the restless souls of Ybor City’s past as they visit some of the area’s oldest — and supposedly haunted — buildings. tampabay-tours.com

Offering guests the unique opportunity to explore the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary without getting their feet wet, the newly reimagined Florida Keys EcoDiscovery Center should be at the top of every eco-conscious traveler’s list of places to visit when in Key West.
Located along the Truman Waterfront en route to Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park, the Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center is one of only a few free attractions found in Key
West. Welcoming anywhere from 200 to 300 guests each day, it boasts 6,000 square feet of interactive exhibits that inspire guests to help preserve the unique ecosystems that lie within the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary.
“As soon as you step into the waters of the Florida Keys, you are in the sanctuary,” said Sarah Fangman, superintendent of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. “It’s our job to demonstrate how to responsibly enjoy the resource, and the eco-discovery center does that in an engaging way that
The Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center recently underwent a $1 million renovationAlthough the Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center originally opened in 2007, it completed a $1 million renovation earlier this year in order to create a more modern, immersive experience for guests. New features include an interactive mangrove exhibit where a replica of a native red mangrove tree reaches from the corner of the room with its arching root system. Visitors can test their listening skills by pushing buttons at the exhibit and guessing what animal calls are being played. Several classic exhibits were renovated as well, offering increased hands-on experiences.
Since the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary is home to the only coral barrier reef in the continental United States, much of the Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center is focused on the fragile ecosystem. Visitors can even look at hardened remnants of coral structures under an electronic microscope and learn about how they were built by thousands of tiny animals called polyps.
The Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center is autism friendly? It has a sensory room on-site and provides sensory kits to those who may need a break from the noise and excitement.
Visitors can explore some of the most famous shipwrecks that occurred in the sanctuary’s waters, too, at a maritime history exhibit that features projected images of wreck sites and long-lost artifacts — including a cannon from the 1733 Spanish fleet that foundered in the Florida Keys.
In addition to its many informative exhibits, the Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center has a 100-seat theater that plays a 20-minute film on sanctuary resources to further enlighten guests. During the weekend, visitors will also find educational carts that teach guests about animal adaptations by showcasing various sea creature skeletons.
The Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Although guests tour the center on their own, staff members and volunteers are always nearby to answer any questions. floridakeys.noaa.gov/eco_discovery.html
When crew members in Mesa, Arizona, met Jerry, they knew there was something special about him. At 86 years old, Jerry was flying for the very first time!
The rest of the passengers also recognized what a special moment this was and cheered for his arrival. The first officer even got up and let Jerry take a seat in his chair so he could check out the flight deck. He then made his way to his seat amidst a hero’s welcome.
As they ascended into the air and headed north, Jerry vividly recalls how amazing it was to see the Grand Canyon from above. Throughout the flight, we got to know Jerry and his wife, Marilyn, a little better and realized that their incredible (and adorable) story expanded way beyond this first flight.
The two met square dancing one night and hit it off. They got married and raised a family on Jerry’s farm. It had been in his family for 100 years!
As time passed, it became harder to maintain. The kids grew up and started their own lives and families. After much deliberation, Jerry and Marilyn decided to sell the farm to an event company that converted the space into a beautiful wedding venue with all the original buildings still intact.
After selling the farm, the duo packed up and hit the road. They traveled full time for months for square dancing. The square-
dancing community is another family for them, and they love connecting with the people it draws.
They might have kept going, if it wasn’t for their grandson’s winter wedding. The drive would be too long, so they made the decision to take their first flight to Great Falls, Montana. For the first time in 12 years, they got to spend Christmas with their family.
When asked if he would fly again, Jerry quickly brought up a hopeful trip to Branson, Missouri. Throughout all their travels, Branson was never on the list. This year they hope to go and see everything the tourist town has to offer!
We were so honored to be a part of this heartwarming story. Can’t wait to have you back on-board Jerry!
You’re never too old for your first flight

We empower our Team Members to establish Network Groups that align with their personal and professional values and create an environment to have a meaningful impact. These Network Groups collaborate with our Diversity & Inclusion Council to enhance the visibility of Team Members and promote a sense of belonging for everyone, by raising awareness and fostering inclusivity.
For Black History Month and Martin Luther King Jr. Day, our Voice Network Group hosted a series of events and programs that engaged Team Members across our network.
Our Las Vegas Team Members walked in the MLK Day parade, the largest west of the Mississippi, honoring his legacy and dedication to service while creating an opportunity for Team Members and their families to participate.
Throughout Black History Month, we showcased leaders who shattered barriers, such as Sandra Douglass Morgan, the first Black Female President of the Raiders and Allegiant Board Member. She joined us for a Fireside chat where she answered questions from Team Members, highlighted the importance of diversity of thought, and shared her inspiring journey toward breaking
down the significant obstacles that she faced. We also had a Black Money Matters seminar by Dr. Laquore J. Meadows, a bestselling author and advocate for financial empowerment in minority communities.
We are proud to partner with Sisters of the Skies, an organization of black women pilots. Our team attended their annual gala to support their efforts to encourage women of color in the aviation industry.

Our crews are thoroughly trained in all safety procedures. To ensure your own safety, we hope you take a moment to review the safety information card located in the seat pocket in front of you. Be aware of the following:
• Location of the nearest emergency exit
• Location of your emergency oxygen mask, if needed
• Correct procedure for exiting the cabin in an emergency
Seat belts must be fastened ANY TIME the seat belt sign is on, during taxi, takeoff and landing. Once the seat belt sign is turned off, you may walk around the cabin. Due to unexpected turbulence, it is strongly recommended that you keep your seat belt fastened any time while in your seat. Allegiant’s exit seating policy does not allow the use of seat belt extensions in the exit seats due to tripping hazards.
Federal Aviation Administration requires that all child restraint seats used on planes meet federal safety standards. Acceptable seats bear proper labeling “THIS RESTRAINT IS CERTIFIED FOR USE IN MOTOR VEHICLES AND AIRCRAFT" from the manufacturer. Unlabeled seats or seats manufactured before Jan. 1, 1981, are not acceptable. Child restraint seats are to be placed into a window seat and secured with an aircraft seat belt.
The use of small cameras or mobile devices for photography and video is permitted onboard provided you keep the purpose of your photography and video to capturing personal events. Photographing or recording other customers or airline personnel without their express consent is prohibited. Airline personnel reserve the right to prohibit photos and videos onboard the aircraft if it becomes a disturbance to them or other passengers.

Smoking, the use of other tobacco products, e-cigarettes and other similar smoking devices are not permitted on any Allegiant flight. Federal law imposes fines of $1,000 for smoking and up to $2,000 for any attempt to disable an aircraft smoke detector.
