July 2022 Newsletter NOMV will transform the status of mental wellness within the profession so veterinary professionals can survive and thrive through education, resources, and support.
NOMV's List: Now Available! NOMV’s List, a list of mental health and community based resources curated by members of the veterinary community, is officially available on the NOMV website! NOMV’s List was created to help veterinary professionals find local resources that are known and trusted by fellow veterinary professionals. We currently have over 250 resources ranging from therapist recommendations to local family violence shelters, food pantries, and other community based resources. NOMV's List will continue to grow in time and we are constantly seeking additional resources that veterinary professionals would recommend to a friend in need. If you have a resource, please submit it using this form. All submissions are completely anonymous and sharing a helpful resource in your community just might save a life! Search NOMV's List
Cyberbullying Task Force In light of recent cyberbullying attacks targeting Maine Veterinary Medical Center, NOMV partnered with MVMC to create a resource for veterinary clinics that find themselves in a similar position. Even while police were stationed outside of the hospital doors due to threats of violence they received because of the cyberbullying, MVMC scheduled a meeting with NOMV to create industry wide cyberbullying resources. MVMC’s Dr. Meghan Vaught shared, “I am someone who needs to transform this experience into something positive, which is our next mission.”

Ohio Clinic FUNdraiser A local veterinary clinic in Findlay, Ohio hosted a fundraiser benefiting NOMV! Blanchard Valley Veterinary Clinic live streamed their fundraiser on Facebook and raised over $500. The veterinarians at the clinic earned up to 4 pies to the face by their support staff team. Khaos the dog had the best job of the day as “Honorary Face Licker” but preferred the task of cleaning the grass instead of the veterinarian's faces. Check out the full video to get in on the fun!

SPOTLIGHT We are delighted to announce that Gabby Mora has joined the team at NOMV! She will serve as our new Director of Development. This full-time staff position is responsible for raising the funds we need to operate NOMV’s programs and secure the organization’s future. Gabby lives in the Chicago-area where she will be working out of her home office with her co-workers Arlo and Mabel - both are rescue pitbulls. She also occasionally has temp workers (aka fosters) joining the crowd. Gabby comes to us with a history of successful fundraising for animalrelated causes. Her experience is diverse and includes everything from holding fundraising events to securing corporate sponsorships and writing grants. She is excited to be putting her incredible knowledge and skills to work helping to transform the status of wellness in the veterinary profession. Gabby’s passion for veterinary medicine started when a veterinary team saved her dog Arlo’s life by conducting an essential amputation. Arlo is a happy, healthy three-legged dog and Gabby cannot imagine her life without him. She is forever grateful for all that veterinary teams do and, as a person who fully understands the importance of mental health, she wants to work everyday for a brighter future for everyone in the field. Please feel free to contact Gabby at gmora@nomv.org if you would like to discuss donating to or fundraising for NOMV, or if you just want to welcome her aboard!
