June 2022 Newsletter NOMV will transform the status of mental wellness within the profession so veterinary professionals can survive and thrive through education, resources, and support.

Forging Global Relationships NOMV Board members, Dr. Erika Lin-Hendel and Dr. Taylor Miller had the immense pleasure of partnering with the Universidade Lusofona in Lisbon, Portugal to participate in a wellness event targeting veterinary practitioners throughout the country.

Hosted in Portugal at the university, the event was live-streamed to maximize reach and participation. They explored several topics including Imposter Phenomenon, Resilience, Self-Compassion, and Compassionate Communication.

Thank you to Dr. Erika Lin-Hendel and Dr. Taylor Miller for raising awareness about NOMV and mental health within the community. We would also like to extend a special thank you to Dean Laurentina Pedroso, Vice Dean Ana Santana, and Professors Rute Teixeira and Alexandra Seixas for their generous welcome and commitment to the mental health of the veterinary profession!

NOMV Advocates Thank You! The NOMV Advocates program would like to extend their gratitude to the Bennack-Polan Foundation for awarding a $15,000 grant to the program.

NOMV Advocates provide high-touch opportunities for outreach and awareness through its grassroots program engaging local communities. These funds will help to spread awareness of NOMV and provide support to veterinary professionals through targeted care packages.

Dog is Good for Good Dog is Good for Good Advocates from all over the U.S. are joining forces with NOMV advocates to help them spread their message of NEVER ALONE. From June 13th until June 18th, Dog is Good will BARK about the country spreading love to the veterinary community while raising awareness and funds for NOMV's Advocate Program!

Strategic Planning Early this month the NOMV Leadership team virtually came together to identify the common goals for the organization and develop a plan to serve the programs from 2023 through 2025.

We look forward to the future of NOMV and continuing our mission to spread awareness and support the mental wellbeing of the veterinary community!

SPOTLIGHT NOMV is excited to announce and spotlight our first Masters of Social Work Intern, Cassandra!

Cassandra is a graduate student at the University of Tennessee pursuing their Veterinary Social Work certificate program. Her passion for social justice and sense of equality and equity brought her to pursue the organizational leadership path while her deep love and devotion to animals and the people who protect them brought her to pursue the Veterinary Social Work certificate.

We are thrilled to have Cassandra join the team as she will be helping to launch our CLEAR Blueprint program and will provide support to our Clinic Advocates.
