August 2022 Newsletter NOMV will transform the status of mental wellness within the profession so veterinary professionals can survive and thrive through education, resources, and support.

NOMV Annual Gala Awards 2022 NOMV is excited to announce our second NOMV Annual Gala Awards!

Join the NOMV Board of Directors to celebrate the accomplishments of our incredible volunteers in beautiful Santa Fe, New Mexico. The event will take place at the La Fonda Hotel on Saturday, December 3rd.

This year’s Gala will feature a presentation by Dr. Joseph Hahn from Merck about veterinary wellbeing and will include a film debut of a NOMV PSA produced by an Ontario film crew - you don’t want to miss this!

If you are unable to attend in person, we will also be live streaming via Zoom, so you can watch from the comfort of your home!

NOMV Texas Webinar NOMV Texas is hosting a webinar on September 14th at 7 PM CST, sponsored by CUBEX! Dr. Mary Beth Spitznagel will discuss researchbased recommendations for reducing caregiver burden in the client, as well as present results of a randomized, controlled trial of an evidence-based approach to reducing burden transfer for veterinary medicine workers.

Awareness at Pet Rock NOMV Seacoast New England will be spreading awareness at the 11th Pet Rock in the Park festival!

This free event takes place at Deering Oaks Park in Portland, ME on Sunday, August 28th, 2022, from 11 AM – 4 PM. Pet Rock will feature live music, food trucks, and an opportunity to meet local NOMV Seacoast New England members.

Outreach at Wienerfest NOMV Seacoast New England Chapter will participate in an outreach event at the Maine Wienerfest 2022 in Belfast, Maine on September 11th!

The chapter hopes to spread awareness of NOMV and their local chapter. Be sure to stop and say hi to our local chapter representatives if you plan to attend northern New England's only festival all about weiner dogs.

SPOTLIGHT NOMV is happy to introduce Taylor Goulbourne, a consultant working with the NOMV Student Support & Mentorship Committee!

Taylor lives in Philadelphia, PA, and helps mission-driven, community-based, and nonprofit organizations grow, serve, and maximize impact using research and evaluation. She is an experienced mixed methods researcher with a background in public health and health communication.

Taylor is working with NOMV to better understand and support veterinary students' mental health-related needs and lived experiences. She will be designing a comprehensive study of U.S. veterinary schools to inform the development of new programs and support existing and future advocacy work.

Outside of her work as a consultant, Taylor loves gardening and spending time with her two dogs, Rogue and Beaux.
