The Digester Mixing System. Mixing Nozzle Upper Crust Breaker
The mixing process is carried out in stages: In the first stage, biomass is injected into the lower part of the tank, creating powerful bulk mixing and preventing sedimentation.
In the second stage, biomass is injected into the upper part of the digester, where biogas is entrained and mixed into the flow, supporting gas release and process stability.
Landia GasMix Nozzle
Depending on digester type and size, a third stage can be included, where biomass is injected into the top zone to prevent surface crust formation.
Mixing Nozzle Lower
Recirculation through the upper and lower nozzles creates rotational flow throughout the digester, ensuring complete mixing. A key component of the GasMix system is the chopper pump. It delivers the required flow and pressure to the nozzles while reducing solids to smaller particles, supporting a stable and efficient biogas process.

Landia POP-I 150 A low-speed mixer for biogas and slurry tanks that uses a larger propeller at a lower rotational speed to achieve maximum mixing power with minimal energy input. The solution has been proven at multiple biogas plants, where it has cut power consumption by up to 50% compared to existing mixers, while also significantly reducing wear. •

Same mixing power, half the energy bill – a larger propeller running at a lower speed moves more liquid per revolution, so you get the same performance for less power Proven up to 50% energy savings – documented across multiple real-world biogas plant installations, not just lab figures Runs smoother and cooler – the lower rpm eliminates cavitation, putting less stress on the equipment

•
Cuts gearbox and propeller wear in half – less mechanical strain means fewer breakdowns and lower service costs
•
Drops straight onto your existing tank – an adapted console lets it replace your current mixer without any rebuild work
•
Built for demanding environments – optional ATEX, VFD, and stainless steel configurations available

Side-entry Mixer The Landia POPTR-I is a dry-installed propeller mixer developed for demanding biogas applications where conventional submersible mixers are not the ideal solution. Installed through the tank wall, the POPTR-I is particularly suited for mixing biomass with high dry matter content and elevated process temperatures. With the motor located outside the tank, all routine maintenance can be carried out without opening or emptying the tank. The air-cooled motor remains completely isolated from the process media, ensuring reliable operation, simplified servicing

Unique Knife System. No Clogging. Pumps that last. Landia chopper pumps are designed for pumping demanding feedstocks with high dry matter content, high viscosity and a high concentration of fibrous material. The pumps feature an open impeller combined with Landia’s proven external knife system. Positioned ahead of the impeller, the knife system reduces coarse and fibrous material before it enters the pump, helping to prevent clogging, minimise wear and ensure reliable operation.

By combining pumping and particle size reduction in a single operation, the pump improves feedstock homogenisation, and supports downstream mixing and digestion processes. The robust design also allows abrasive materials and small foreign objects, such
as grit, sand, glass fragments and bones, to pass through with minimal wear. With operating pressures of up to 6 bar, Landia chopper pumps are ideally suited for feedstock transfer and recirculation throughout the biogas plant.

The Landia BioChop system is a complete hygienisation solution for biogas plants processing animal by-products (ABP) and other organic waste streams that require pasteurisation before anaerobic digestion. Designed to comply with Category 3 ABP requirements, the system reduces particle size to below 12 mm and maintains the material at 70° C for 1 hour, while automatically recording the entire process for full traceability and regulatory compliance. Constructed entirely in stainless steel, the compact system uses an integrated heating jacket with circulating hot water to ensure efficient and uniform heating without the need for an external heat exchanger.
Biogas
At the heart of the system is the Landia BioChop chopper pump, which performs three essential functions: particle size reduction, mixing and discharge. Once the hygienisation cycle is complete, the treated material can be pumped directly to storage or transferred to the digester for further processing. The BioChop system is supplied with a fully integrated control system featuring touchscreen operation, automatic process control, monitoring and data logging, providing complete documentation of every hygienisation cycle.
