Landia has supplied pumping solutions to the fish and aquaculture industry for more than 30 years, serving both RAS facilities and fish processing operations.
Our equipment is engineered for stable, continuous handling of waste products, sludge and fish silage.
Combined with long service life and professional global after-sales support, Landia ensures reliable operation and low total cost of ownership.

The fish industry is tough on pumps. Liquids are aggressive, materials are demanding, and downtime costs money.
Landia pumps are built in stainless steel to handle harsh conditions and keep wear to a minimum.
An integrated knife system at the pump inlet cuts solids before they enter the pump, eliminating the risk of clogging.
The result is reliable performance, less maintenance, and uninterrupted production.

• Stainless steel pump components for long service life
• Resistant to low-pHliquids such as fish silage
• Integrated knife system
• No risk of clogging
• Less maintenance and downtime

In the grow-out phase, biomass and operational loads are at their highest.
RAS 2020 emphasizes stable operation, reliable water movement, and uniform water quality to ensure fish welfare and production security.
Landia flowmakers create smooth, steady water movement that keeps fish healthy and tanks clean – even at high stocking densities.

The standard highlights the need for robust, proven equipment with high uptime, easy maintenance, and materials that withstand seawater – and the lowest possible power consumption.
The POPLR-I is a low-speed flowmaker engineered for efficient circulation of large water volumes, delivering maximum flow with minimal power consumption.

In salmon farming, both offshore pens and onshore facilities generate organic sludge from uneaten feed, faeces and biofilm.
This sludge can be high in nutrients and solids, and must be handled carefully to avoid environmental impact and meet regulatory requirements.
When aquaculture sludge is used for biogas production or recycled as fertiliser, hygienisation is required to meet regulatory and biosecurity standards.
By integrating Landia hygienisation into the process line, aquaculture sludge can be transformed from a regulatory challenge into a valuable resource.

Fresh Fish by-products

Good biosecurity is essential for healthy and efficient aquaculture.
Dead fish and by-products must be removed quickly and handled safely to avoid the spread of disease.
By converting these materials into fish silage, the risk of infection is reduced while creating a stable and usable product.
• Reduces the risk of disease spread
• Improves biosecurity in aquaculture systems
• Converts waste into a stable and valuable product
• Allows safe storage and transport of organic material

LOCATION: Scotland
A Scottish anaerobic digestion operator wanted to introduce fish morts as a new feedstock. This required compliant pretreatment, ABP-approved pasteurisation and reliable transfer to the digester.
Landia delivered a complete turnkey system including:
• 10 m³ PowerEnsiler equipped with an 18.5 kW stainless steel chopper pump
• 8 m³ BioChop pasteuriser for heat treatment of the silage
• Full ABP compliance (70°C), veterinary approved
If you think we promise too much, here are some references from the fish industry.
The fish morts are macerated and continuously recirculated into a homogeneous purée, pasteurised, and safely pumped onward to the biogas digester.
Result
• Increased gas yields
• Stable and reliable handling of a difficult feedstock
• Single supplier responsible for design, installation and commissioning
This is an example of a hygienically safe method for disposing of dead fish from aquaculture, while at the same time demonstrating that they can ultimately be used for the production of renewable biogas.
