About Me

Nneka was born on January 10, 2014 t the Toronto Zoo. She is one of two daughter from Ngozi and Charles. She is a young, energetic gorilla with an outgoing personality. She gets along well with the other members of the troop Especially her little sister Charlie, which you can often see riding on Nneks back. She will often watch the other members of the troop thoughtfully to learn skills she will need when she grows up. Nneka is very comfortable around her father, Charles, and can often be seen sitting near him. With Nneka’s increasing confidence she will likely inherit her mother’s rank when she matures.

Charlie was born on June 7, 2018 at the Toronto Zoo. she is the third offspring of Ngozi and Charles. She is a very lovable gorilla, who enjoys time with her keepers and plays well with her siblings. Charlie is very personable and will watch out for regular guests as they pass by. As the baby of the family, Charlie certainly receives a lot of attention. You can see her playing with her older sister Nneka the most, often wrestling, tickling, and climbing together, Nneka will often give Charlie pigy back rides. You also may see her sharing a cargo net or platform with her big half sister, Johari.

In this picture the troop had just come into the indoor enclosure. While they were in the holding area the keepers went out and put tons of enrichment food in the enclosure. Once let out into the habitat Ngozi did what she does best when new food has been given, she started to collect what she could so she can eat it at her own pace. In the photo you can see Ngozi holding lettuce in her hand as Charlie gives her a look of interest for the lettuce.
