Pat Lucas is always reaching for his potential, but what makes him truly special is his ability to help others reach theirs.

On Pat’s first day, OtterBase employed 25 people in two cities—Detroit and Grand Rapids. That was 12 years ago. “A lot has changed but a lot has stayed the same,” he says. “I knew the company would do great things and wanted to have a hand in that growth and opportunity.”

Pat’s one of our Client Partners, developing new accounts, maintaining existing accounts, and helping recruiters turn into dynamic professionals. Outside of work, his title is obvious: Outdoor Enthusiast. Apart from God and his family, being outside is his number one passion—specifically when it involves hunting birds across the country or reeling in one of Lake Michigan’s most feisty salmons.

As for living his best life? “I have believed in this mantra for a long time,” Pat says. “Living my best life is enjoying each day, taking nothing for granted, and working hard to get home and play with kids.” Those kids are five- and seven-year-old daughters—Pat’s driving force.

For over a decade, we’ve watched Pat reach his potential, but we’ve also seen his knack for bringing out the potential of others. “Pat helped me become the Otter I am today,” says Brianna Welsh, who helps to lead our corporate recruiting team. “I couldn’t be more grateful.”

What’s Pat’s secret? It may be pepperoni Pizza Rolls, his favorite snack, baked AND broiled. “Never baked only,” he insists. More likely, it’s that he doesn’t overcomplicate things. “I come to work for two reasons,” he says. “Make money and help others succeed.”
