responding to COVID-19 A message from Simon Glenister, CEO
what we do We pair a participant with a professional music producer over the course of 20 one-hour sessions delivered online using video calling and a browser-based music platform. We provide an encouraging environment to learn to new skills and create the music they want to listen to. Participants can safely share session highlights to their Digital Story – a private online space – and invite friends and family to leave their feedback. This fosters engagement and creates a supportive digital community, which celebrates success and, in doing so, increases protective factors.

far deeper than fun There's no doubt in our minds that what we offer is fun – and we should not underestimate the importance of having fun – but that's not why we do it. We've spent the past five years researching and developing a robust evidence base to understand how to meaningfully improve the well-being of young people, as well as measuring and capturing that impact. We know that improvements in well-being lead to improvements in education, health, social, and engagement outcomes. Making music is what we do. Improving well-being is why we do it. And evidence-based digital youth work is our goal.

Our approach is rooted in selfdetermination theory, a wellevidenced framework for understanding changes in motivation, and the findings of a two-year MEd at the University of Cambridge.
We measure the well-being of participants at the start and end of a programme using a validated, NHS-backed survey. We can show you the statistically significant improvements we see.

what participants say It's been fun and an escape from the problems that are going on. I feel more resilient to deal with the stuff that life throws at me. Coping mechanisms and strategies are great but they don't always help. Using this to focus on makes all the other stuff fade away to provide a break. how much does it cost? £1,100 Here's what's included: 20 one-hour, one-to-one sessions for your participant with a professional music producer. (The programme can be extended if necessary). Weekly session reports from the delivering musician. Access to the Digital Story, where the participant shares session highlights and invites feedback from family and friends. Access to VIP Studio Sessions, an online browser-based music making platform with hundreds of bitesized video tutorials. Bronze Arts Award (Level 1) and Silver Arts Award (Level 2) delivery and moderation (where appropriate). Ability to track well-being impacts All quoted prices correct as of 31st March 2020. No hidden costs.
Making a referral We are willing and able to work with any young person who is facing challenging circumstances. What are the criteria for making a referral? Is the young person interested in making music? Would they be happy to work with Noise Solution? Do they have a laptop or desktop computer? Have you secured funding for the programme? If you can answer "YES" to all four questions, then please make a referral. As soon as the referral goes through, we'll get in touch with the participant to get sessions up and running. You can make a referral through our short online form.

Safeguarding The sudden shift to online delivery has left many agencies with concerns about safeguarding and child protection. Noise Solution has been working in the online, digital space for the past 10 years, and the move to 100% online is a small transition for us. As such, we already have well-established safeguarding protocols and procedures for working safely and securely with participants online. All our musicians are recruited in line with safer recruitment processes. Video calling software provides end-to-end encryption and all meetings are locked to include only the musician and participant. Weekly session reports update professionals and senior staff on what is happening in sessions. Safeguarding alerts are immediately and automatically flagged to senior staff, and an audit trail enables full transparency and monitoring by safeguarding leads and the Board. Every participant's Digital Story and video reflections allows us to see and hear from them in their own words, providing insight into their experience of the sessions.
