The why and how

Established in 2009, Noise Solution’s mission is to “contribute to a world where everyone means something, and they know it”.

We achieve this through the power of music, relationships and technology to support those feeling furthest from meaning something in society. We use music mentoring to engage and provide a space around which to build relationships.

Musicians support each participant to create whatever music they want to make, how they want to make it, what is captured about their experience and who they want to share it with.

People often feel music is complicated to make. We enable any participant, whatever experience they have, to experience feelings of success creating their music, easily and quickly.

Each person shares their digital story, encouraging positive feedback from the people they care about. Participant and those watching are equally part of the process. This allows the participant to feel 'seen'.

* In clinical mental health and education research, relationships are evidenced to be the #1 indicator of success in any intervention ** Self Determination Theory recognises these three psychological needs as essential (It has 1.8 million citations in academic literature)

Three tiers of need o er Prior to 2025 we had a ‘one size ts all’ twenty hour o er. We have since developed a three tier o er, designed to provide the right level of support depending on each participant’s need. An o er that is exible enough to allow us to de-escalate that need (and its cost to services) as people progress through the programme.

Why are we needed?

• There is huge need in the Eastern region for young people facing challenges in education/ mental health/neurodivergence.

• Cambridgeshire alone has an estimated 34,000 young people alone with diagnosable mental health challenges.

• Persistent absence and suspension rates have doubled in Su olk post pandemic.

• Young women, those transitioning to adult mental health care, and those who are LGBTQ+ cause the most concern for services or have the lowest wellbeing when surveyed.

In 2024 we also had a good referral rates from local government in Su olk, Essex and Cambridgeshire. While our referrals from mental health occur mainly in Su olk and Cambridgeshire. The areas where we have not yet developed relationships with services present opportunities to receive further referrals, enabling us to support more young people through our High/Mid/low programmes

• Noise Solution provides a proven, non-clinical intervention based on Self-Determination Theory (SDT)—a globally recognised framework for improving well-being.

• Our model reduces reliance on CAMHS and other overburdened mental health services in ways that families and professionals alike can get behind. Non medicalised but highly professional.

Why should systems work with us to make us part of the answer (4 of 4) Integrates Seamlessly with Existing Services and Strategies • We work alongside schools, multi-academy trusts (MATs), local authorities, and Integrated Care Systems (ICS) to ensure a joined-up approach.

• We contribute to Education, Health, and Social Care strategies, including Children Missing Education (CME), Alternative Provision, and Family Hubs agendas.

Our ve target aims

Aim One: Expanding High-Quality Mentoring Across the Eastern Region We aim to increase access to our music mentoring across the Eastern region, targeting areas where our presence is limited, such as Essex, Norfolk, Hertfordshire, and Bedfordshire. Our current team has the capacity to expand by 30%, and we will focus on partnerships with multi-academy trusts and mental health commissioners to grow our reach, particularly for over-18s.

Aim Two: Increasing Access for Underrepresented Groups

We will improve engagement with women, LGBTQ+ people, minority ethnic communities, neurodiverse individuals, and disabled people. This includes re ning our data collection to better understand and address disparities, increasing referrals for women, and strengthening partnerships, such as with The Kite Trust, to enhance accessibility for LGBTQ+ participants.

Aim Three: Diversifying and Strengthening Our Income To protect against nancial risks, we will expand our funding sources beyond local authority contracts, targeting commissioners in new regions and health sectors. We will seek grants for R&D and support the development of Transceve, our AI-driven impact analysis company, to generate income through cross-subsidy.

Aim Four: Strengthening Our Storytelling and In uence

We will enhance our communications strategy to position Noise Solution as a specialist service for people with complex needs. By amplifying participant voices, engaging with key policymakers, and promoting our innovative approach, we will increase visibility, secure new opportunities, and advocate for high-quality alternative provision.

Aim Five: Ensuring the Right Team and Tools for Growth To support our expansion, we will invest in team capacity, recruit for key roles, and strengthen our board. We will improve operational e iciency, establish a permanent o ice base, and leverage Transceve’s AI capabilities to deepen our impact measurement and demonstrate return on investment to commissioners.
