It’s hard to not begin by addressing what is happening in our country. It’s truly sad. My encouragement to you is to focus on hope and stand for freedom. Many people have been affected by this pandemic and we need to come together as one nation under God. Whether you believe a vaccination is the right thing to do or not, this situation goes much further than our health. You may even think that being forced to wear a mask or get a vaccine is insignificant, but when you begin to compare mandate after mandate, loss of freedom after freedom it becomes very significant. We need to be bold in standing up for our God-given rights. Uncensored and timeless, courage is immortal. Here at NOBLEMAN we stand with those standing for their rights and liberties. If there's one thing the lockdowns have taught us, it's "carpe diem." Seize the day. The world is open, so take advantage of the openness to explore, adventure, and enjoy. Dine out; attend concerts, theatre, and athletic events; maybe even play in a sports league. (Personal note: my amateur soccer team won our soccer finals, in a game where I sprained my ankle with only a few seconds on the clock. A bittersweet moment for sure, yet that didn't hamper the afterparty at our house). No one can take a good time away from you, after you've already had it.

Okay, now let's dive into the fantastic and fun content of our fall issue. We've got an iconic James Bond legend for our cover. Yes, we spent the day with the one and only Pierce Brosnan in Beverly Hills. We found Pierce to be captivating, friendly, laid back and cool during our shoot featuring Harry Winston. We even shipped in the brand new BMW iX, the all-electric SUV which comes out next Spring.

Now we look forward to autumn. The weather gets cooler, the leaves turn beautiful colors, kids are back to school, and sweaters come out of the closet. Baseball season ends, and football season grinds into high gear. Yes, the seasons fly by but courage remains eternal. Like that killer line in the movie Gladiator: “What we do in life echoes in eternity." So let's be lions and not sheep.

he story of Alfred GIRAUD French Malt Whisky unknowingly began 160 years ago, and strangely enough, it didn’t have to do with whisky at all. The Giraud family has a history of working in cognac dating back to the mid-19th century. It started with Louis Giraud, who was a cask maker before joining cognac house Rémy Martin in 1910, where he became an expert in production, blending, and aging cognac. Louis trained his son Alfred, after whom the whisky is named, the tricks of the trade. Alfred continued his father’s legacy at Rémy and introduced his son, André, to cognac, who later became a renown cellar master in the cognac industry. Then Jean-Pierre, Andre’s nephew, managed the same cognac house. Today, the Giraud legacy lives on through Jean-Pierre’s son, Philippe, the founder of Alfred GIRAUD whisky. Growing up in a cognac family, Philippe was always enamored with spirits. He left the world of cognac in 1995 to work for a Scotch whisky producer, where he developed a passion for whisky. He founded his own company in 2004, which allowed him to marry his passion for whisky with his family’s expertise in cognac to create Alfred GIRAUD French Malt Whisky. “The story is so unique,” Philippe told NOBLEMAN. “I come from a line of cognac masters, and now, we are transitioning to luxury whisky. The concept of French luxury whisky makes sense. There is a culture of premium and well-made products. France has the technical and marketing skills, casks, supply chain, the distilling, aging, expertise and the wood, all of which are needed to produce French whisky.”

After six years of working on the brand, Alfred GIRAUD launched in 2018 with two expressions, HERITAGE and HARMONIE. Just 12,000 bottles of Alfred GIRAUD whisky are produced a year, which is exceptionally small in comparison to the 250 million bottles produced per year from larger brands like Johnnie Walker. Alfred GIRAUD whisky is produced in Cognac, France, and its production sets them apart from many other companies. They source high-quality distillates from a French whisky distillery, which then is blended with their own malts. Although they don’t grow their own barley, they have exclusive partnerships with organic and nonorganic growers in France. The barley is sent to the Vosges region, where they built the only small malting facility in continental Europe that works continuously, allowing them to malt the barleys to their specific organoleptic requirements and trace it with absolute certainty. “The malted barley is then transported to Cognac, where we control our whole production process from milling and mashing malted barley, producing wort and wash with proprietary yeasts, and distilling it in small, traditional, fire-heated cognac copper stills,” he says. HARMONIE and HERITAGE are matured in ex-rare cognac casks except for a short period of time at the beginning of the aging process when a small proportion of their whiskies age in new French Limousin oak casks. The family of Andre Giraud also owns a forestry operation in France’s Limousin Forest, which allows them to create their own new casks. What sets Alfred GIRAUD apart, however, is the use of rare, extra-old cognac casks, which are up to 65 years old. These casks are exceptionally rare and aging the whisky within these casks is what gives Alfred GIRAUD whisky a smooth touch of sweetness and a long finish. All Alfred GIRAUD whiskies are double or triple malts and have a slow reduction method, resulting in beautiful and elegant aromas. HERITAGE is both complex and balanced, with a nose of brioche;

a palate of grassy notes and slight woodiness; and a sophisticated finish of spiciness, nutty malt and sweetness from the cognac casks. HARMONIE, on the other hand, is slightly peated. Both powerful and inviting, HARMONIE has an exquisite, long finish with soft tannins from the extra-old cognac casks. The third release, VOYAGE, is produced in a very limited amount of one cask in 2020 and five casks in 2021, out of which only one for the USA. “It's a double malt that is aged in a combination of exSauternes cask, which was done before,” he said. “But the novelty is the other wood that we use, which is new French Robinia. It has a lot of tannins and gives strong aromas. We were only able to release it after years of work, and it sold very quickly.” French whisky is difficult to compare to American and Scotch whisky, as it’s only been around for around 40 years. But it’s safe to say that Alfred GIRAUD’s unique production methods and fascinating story have grabbed the attention of whisky lovers worldwide, from America to Russia to Asia. “We still have a lot to learn from the Scottish and Japanese whisky makers,” Philippe said. “There’s so much knowledge there and they remain the masters, but what we’re doing is creating another wave. I think if you fast forward ten years, we’ll have something that’s very unique and different. The use of these rare cognac casks adds a touch that nobody has today because access to these casks is difficult.” Alfred GIRAUD will release in November its first limitededition INTRIGUE, a triple malt aged in a combination of five casks, including an exceptional one that will never again be replicated. In our unending pursuit to find experiences that will heighten our perception of luxury, this time our travels take us to a property that is hidden in plain sight in the heart of Georgetown. Endearingly referred to as the “Gem of Georgetown” by the locals, the Rosewood Hotel is located on the historic C&O canal in what was once a Federalist Lawyer’s building. Unless you’re a savvy local or DC insider, you might walk right by the property that all but blends into its surroundings amidst the other townhomes, shops, and restaurants. But behind the handsome yet inconspicuous red brick façade lies what can only be described as the pinnacle of elegance. Immediately upon entering, we were enamored with the tasteful contrast of antique and modern design elements in perfect harmony. Beyond the warm and inviting foyer is another surprise; a re-imagined library decorated with floor to ceiling marble. The feeling of sophistication upon entry to the Rosemont is amplified by tantalizing aromas wafting from the hotel’s exclusive Wolfgang Puck Restaurant, the Cut. But it was still too early for dinner, so we decided to explore a bit more. From butler service to personal chefs and childcare, Rosewood Hotel’s concept is a completely bespoke luxury experience which can be custom tailored to the needs of its elite clientele of international business travelers, high profile politicians, and well-to-do vacationers and stay-cationers. The seemingly endless guest provisions at the Rosemont continued to exceed all preconceived notions of an all-around luxury experience. We stayed in one of the property’s six posh townhome style suites, with its very own backyard and every imaginable amenity contained within the three-story floor plan. The townhomes are in a prime location in the middle of the busy main street, where you can just step outside on the elevated walkway and down the stairs to check out some of the local shopping and restaurants. But don’t spoil your appetite! Be sure to visit The Cut, a celebrated culinary dining experience that attracts travelers from far and wide with its distinguished service and spin on classic seafood and vegetable dishes. It was difficult for us to pick a favorite, but we absolutely loved the Jack’s Point Oysters, Fire Roasted Eggplant and Wild Field Mushrooms. For a night cap, head over to the bar for one of their spin-offs on the classic Negroni. If you feel like something more personalized, just describe your tastes and the expert mixologists will be sure to deliver a mouth-watering mélange. No single visitor would ever be able to experience all the Rosewood has to offer in a single stay; our main take-away from this experience is that we will be back, now that we are enlightened in our concept of modern but timeless luxury.

Nearly eight decades before Forbes would muse on his status as “The Godfather of Single Malt Scotch Whisky,” George Urquat had his mind set on leaving a legacy. One February day in 1940, he and his father, John, married a single malt from Glenlivet Distillery with a bespoke cask from his family's bottling company, Gordon & MacPhail. This cask would remain untouched, until the day it officially became the oldest scotch whisky in the world. Beginning this September, Urquat’s foresight is our gain, when the Gordon & MacPhail 80-Years-Old from Glenlivet Distillery, becomes available to connoisseurs everywhere. With just 250 decanters to be released, this bottling transcends the singular sense of taste, and activates the imagination, thanks to a unique partnership with awardwinning architect, Sir David Adjaye OBE. WATCHES WITH INTEGRATED BRACELETS MAKE FOR A SEAMLESS DAY TO DUSK TRANSITION. All watches available at watchbox.com

Call it like it is, watches with integrated bracelets are continuing to have their moment in the spotlight, fueled primarily by the massive demand for the Patek Philippe Nautilus and the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak. We’re seeing more entrants in the category than ever, ranging from high-level competitors to entry-level also-rans, but it’s worth noting that this trend is anything but new. The ‘60s and ‘70s were filled with this kind of design work, which slowly began dwindling as the Quartz Crisis reared its ugly head, and the need to cut manufacturing costs began to strangle brands across the industry. With the industry the way it is today, and the collecting community having no problem parting with cash so long as they see tangible value in quality and finishing, it’s a logical progression to see the trend return to the market. It’s hard to take on this category without a mention of Gérald Genta, but it’s with specific reason that we’re not going to spend much time on the famed designer. While he is responsible for the creation of some of the most popular integrated bracelet designs, he did not invent the style. Integrated bracelet Omega Constellation models came before the Royal Oak, and prior to that, there were ample examples of watches (especially in the women’s watch category) where bracelets melded seamlessly into cases in a manner that was inseparable. While the man did fuel the boom of the category, it is not his to own, and to say all integrated bracelet watches are of “Genta influence” is a frustrating misnomer at best. So, by definition, what is an integrated bracelet? Unlike other categories in watchmaking, this one is pretty cut-and-dried. An integrated bracelet on a watch is one that meshes into the watch case in a way that defies the traditional lugs and strap design seen across the industry. This can mean the use of central lugs, or a bracelet that flares out past the lugs, or a bracelet that attaches to the case via a center lug rather than an end link. In many respects, it falls under the umbrella of “you know it when you see it”, but you can also look at a watch with an integrated bracelet as one whose bracelet or strap you won’t be able to easily swap out to something else on a whim. Now that we’ve covered the backbone of what we’re looking at, let’s have a closer look at some of the category’s leading offerings.

PATEK PHILIPPE NAUTILUS The second “Genta reference” in this list is, of course, the mighty Nautilus—a watch whose desirability spike can only be compared to that of the vintage Porsche 911. Oddly enough, an owner of one is often an owner of the other. The Nautilus is its own beast, in that its more svelte and smoothed design gives it an entirely different vibe than its sister at AP. Of course, the classic reference is the now discontinued 5711 in steel, whose secondary market values are easily between two and three times its retail sticker. The Nautilus is the Birkin bag of watches. It’s the LaFerrari of watches. It’s the “oh I’m sorry, who are you and what have you bought from us before?” of watches. You just CAN’T get one from a Patek AD. Or at least, you couldn’t long before the discontinuation announcement came out. Demand far outweighed its supply, long before there was any talk of it coming off of the market, and if current prices are any indication, that demand isn’t slowing down one bit.

AUDEMARS PIGUET ROYAL OAK As we noted in our introduction, you can’t talk integrated without talking about Royal Oak. Launched in 1972, the Royal Oak is a legend in the space, and its unique integrated bracelet design remains largely unchanged from inception to present day. To many, the Royal Oak Extra Thin Jumbo 15202 is the one and only quintessential modern Royal Oak to own. When talking about a product line that includes so many references over a now 49-year period, that’s a statement. In essence, the 15202 is a recreation of the original reference 5402 from 1972, offered in a handful of different metals and dial colors. It measures 39mm across, like the original, and 8.1mm thick, which is slightly thicker than the original reference, necessary to allow for the fitment of a sapphire crystal. Its logo on the dial is placed back at the 6 o’clock position, as was the case in the original reference as well. It even uses the same AP caliber 2121 that has been in use all this time. Consider this reference less of a “recreation,” and more of an evolution of the original Royal Oak in the best possible way.

VACHERON CONSTANTIN OVERSEAS Before we get to the rest of the category, it makes a fair bit of sense to tackle the third member of the Holy Trinity of watchmaking. Easily the underdog of the trio, the Vacheron Constantin Overseas is a lovely watch in its own right, and one equally deserving of attention. Many may be unaware, but the Overseas is nearly as old as its siblings. In 1977, Vacheron launched its integrated bracelet competitor—the 222. The model has evolved a fair bit more since then when compared to the evolution of the Nautilus or Royal Oak, but its unique notched bezel design and integrated bracelet remain true to that original Jorg Hysek design. The name 222 was not carried forward, primarily on account of its original significance. 1977 was the 222nd anniversary of the brand, and thus to have a 222 in 2021 would be rather counterintuitive. In its current guise, the Overseas has a bit of a trick up its sleeve that brings surprising practicality to the integrated bracelet category. It’s one of very few in the mix whose bracelet can be swapped out with any real fuss. A quick-release mechanism lets its owner rotate between bracelet, leather, and rubber straps; all three of which are included with purchase.

H. MOSER & CIE. STREAMLINER We all know that H. Moser & Cie. loves to take potshots at industry tropes, so when word came that they were to launch a steel sports watch with an integrated bracelet, we knew to expect two things. It would be a distinct and out-of-the-ordinary interpretation of the classic style, and it would be polarizing. Ask and ye shall receive, I suppose, as the Streamliner brings flavors of more obscure ‘70s watchmaking into the collection, now available in both chronograph and 3-hand configurations. On the topic of its integrated bracelet, the Streamliner’s bracelet has no rivals in this list to speak of, as its single-link design hides polished details, all while providing an incredibly comfortable fit. It’s an obscure one, for sure, and it won’t be for everybody, but that’s effectively the point of all things Moser, isn’t it?

BULGARI OCTO FINISSIMO It seems like a logical progression to go from the three “icons” of the integrated bracelet category, to the watch that’s trying very hard to become the next icon, if Jean-Claude Babin is allowed to have his way. There’s a lot to love about the Octo, but setting its edgy design aside for a minute, there’s no ignoring what the Octo Finissimo means for modern watchmaking. At present, there have been 7 world-record-holding references in the collection, all related to being the thinnest watch/movement/etc. of a particular complication (or tourbillon, which is not a complication in and of itself ). The ultraflat unit is much larger than the other competitors in the field, but its typically matte finishes and extremely slender profile allow it to hide against the wrist unlike just about anything out there. Though the model range keeps expanding, the lightness of the titanium variant is always the one that comes to mind when thinking of the purest expression of the collection.

A LANGE & SÖHNE ODYSSEUS We now move to the most surprising piece in the category. When Lange launched the Odysseus, it was met with mixed reviews, to say the least. Given how immensely traditional the brand’s approach to watchmaking has been, the Odysseus seemed out of place to some. To others, especially the Lange faithful, it was finally a more casual watch from their beloved German brand that could be worn outside of the boardroom and formal gatherings. What was agreed upon across the board was one simple thing—the Odysseus is “very Lange” in its execution. The detailed work in its dial, case, and movement finishing is entirely spot-on as to what is expected of the brand, and love it or hate it, you can’t fault them on any of the little details. This is their first-ever standard production line steel watch, measuring 40.5mm across (though it wears a touch bigger on account of its broad steel integrated bracelet). Surprisingly, only the white gold variant is available on either rubber or leather strap.

TUDOR NORTH FLAG IWC INGENIEUR And now for something a little more… modest? The Tudor North Flag is a bit more of a traditional tool watch with a much more approachable sticker price, making it a surprising contender as a proper “go anywhere do anything” piece. To be fair, this is seldom seen in a watch with an integrated bracelet, but leave it to Tudor to mix things up. Its roots go back to an early Tudor Ranger model that also had an integrated bracelet, and its name borrows inspiration from an expedition to Greenland in the ‘50s that Tudor played a small role in, but history isn’t really the North Flag’s linchpin. What’s noteworthy is that the North Flag was the first offering from the brand to be fitted with an in-house manufacture caliber, setting the scene for the ongoing rollout of the brand’s manufacturing independence. It’s a charming watch to boot, and with a highcontrast white-on-black dial, it’s got plenty of presence on the wrist.

Next up on the list is a bit of an underdog, which is quite amusing considering it has more historical pedigree than much of the competition. The IWC Ingenieur, specifically the last generation that was discontinued in 2017, has some pretty interesting roots. For starters, the first generation Ingenieur (or engineer, en Français) was designed as an anti-magnetic competitor to the Rolex Milgauss, though it never climbed to the same level of fame. In 1978, it received a thoughtful redesign with an integrated bracelet by—you guessed it—Gérald Genta himself. In the previous-gen guise, both the antimagnetic properties and the Genta-based design are echoed into a properly modern watch that should have garnered more praise than it tends to receive. On the plus side, that makes them a relative bargain on the pre-owned market, which is always a plus. If the overall specs, capabilities, and design are more of a priority than what watches are riding the hype train this month, the Ingenieur may well be worth a look.

HUBLOT BIG BANG INTEGRAL

Everyone loves going out with a bang, right? It’s almost shocking to think how long it took Hublot to decide to offer the Big Bang on an integrated bracelet, however, given the immense popularity of their quick-change strap system and the lightweight properties that came with it, I don’t think that many were disappointed. As small as the change may seem, swapping out the brand’s bolted quickchange lug system for a bracelet that seamlessly flows into its case makes a world of difference when looking at the Integral alongside a standard Big Bang. It’s more subdued, though I struggle to type the word “understated.” Call it what you will, the combination of the integrated bracelet with the smaller 42mm variant of the Big Bang is a winner that will no doubt open up a new segment of potential buyers. As it should.

hat are the markings of a Nobleman? What makes a Nobleman? Well, I guess it’s in how you define one. “I think a Nobleman always starts with heart,” says Pierce Brosnan, the subject of our feature and fall cover star. “The heart of the man, who he is. A Nobleman meets a Noblewoman.” “A Noblema’am?” I joke. Pierce laughs and I get myself a smile and nod of approval from him, which is PERFECT for my personal need for positive reinforcement. My therapist agrees. “Hopefully, they'll have Noble children and live a Noble life. I think showing up on time and being present and enjoying people’s kindness, hard work, and being able to deal with adversity; being able to deal with the turbulence of life gives you some nobility.” C’mon, could Pierce Brosnan be any more perfect? With this earnest answer, that salt and pepper hair, his quick wit and sly smile, even the interns couldn’t help but be captivated by this devilishly handsome man. But there’s so much more to Pierce than meets the eye. And to get there, we have to back up just a bit. This is no ordinary man. This is a person made of passion and perseverance who has experienced the happiest of times along with the deepest of tragedies, and still, ultimately, inspires earnest hope in everyone around him. With Pierce we laugh, we cry, we drool...but perhaps what fascinates me most about him is his upbringing and transition to stardom. He starts as a kid raised by his grandparents and goes on to become James Bond. What happened in between to get him there? What was his big break? “Work. Just work,” says Pierce. “Nothing comes from nothing. It's all about doing, it's all about setting your skills, your intentions, your dreams, your aspirations. And then hopefully you'll meet the right people along the way. Every now and then you bump into the furniture, but you have to keep going. I was very blessed with being an actor. I almost went into the Army. I also almost became a cop. But I was good at art and so I became an artist. I set sail to be a commercial artist. And one morning when I was about 18, this guy from the photographic department and I, we talked about movies, and I loved movies. And he said to me ‘you should come along and do a workshop at the Oval House Theater,’ which was in South London. And I did. I walked in through those doors on a winter’s evening and did a workshop. That was in the late 60s, and that was it. From there I went twice a week, three times a week, every night of the week. I gave up my little job of trying to be an artist, and instead became an actor.” “I did a play with Mr. Tennessee Williams and it was one of the last pieces of his life, it was called The Red Devil Battery Sign. Beautiful, beautiful prose, but not really a strong narrative. I was fresh out of drama school. I was an understudy for the young male lead and I had a couple of lines at the end of the play as a gang member. And I took over from this other young man who... it was not his place in time. Sometimes you find yourself like that. Anyway, I took over the lead and that was it.”

I’m a firm believer that sometimes in life you just know. You know? Especially when it comes to love and matters of the heart. In the 6th grade I knew I was correct about that questionable looking cafeteria pizza that made everyone sick, at 15 I knew I found love, and at 33, I knew that Netflix in bed at 8PM was the true meaning of living a fulfilled life. In the path of self discovery, what’s right will always come back to us. Someone asked me once, a long time ago, “promise me you'll come back.” And I promised that I would, one day, when I was really supposed to stay. I am a passionate believer that Pierce was supposed to walk through that door, take that stage, and make us smile and laugh with him for decades to come. “I have a certain romantic notion of going back to the theater, being on the stage, but I really enjoy so much working on film and I'm so used to it now. And the discipline of the stage, you just can't say, well, I'm going to go up and to play your voice, you have to train your voice. You have to prepare your body somewhat. I'm just making excuses now. I'm just too darn scared. I suppose if someone came to me with a great plan and production I might give it a look, throw myself out there.” “I connect with all of my characters one way or another, for better or worse. You have to. You use so much of your own life, your own persona. The films that I made with my late producing partner, Beau Marie St. Clair, we made about 10 movies. One of them was The Thomas Crown Affair, which just seemed to work. We got away with it; it was treacherous ground going into the landscape of Steve McQueen. But that's very close to my heart. James Bond, obviously. He proceeds me, so do many of them.” “What is your proudest moment as an actor?” I asked. “Coming to America, this great country. Getting Remington Steele. My neck was really out there with the bank manager for about 2,000 pounds and I was in trouble if I didn't get the job. But I got the job, so it was exhilarating. I was 25 or 26, something like that, in 1982. Having grown up on American cinema, American TV it was a big step.”

It’s called range. “Cinderella, which I made last year, I saw it the other night there with my granddaughter. It's wonderful. Camila Cabello is absolutely outstanding. She owns the movie. She's got a great presence. It's a wonderful interpretation of Cinderella and the story. And Billy Porter shines as the fairy godmother. I play the king. Minnie Driver is my queen and I sing...sorry.” Nothing to be sorry for. Even if Pierce Brosnan’s singing voice sounded like a colony of feral cats fighting in an alleyway, people would listen. Let’s face it: The man is nearly perfect. While acting might have become his main gig, his training as a painter and illustrator are used today in his charitable work and activism as he supports causes that are important. “My artwork has become more articulate and it's certainly a passion, and I've reached a point in my life now where I have a collection of paintings. My wife had them all curated and decided

to have a show. And I have aligned myself with a wonderful charity called A Sense of Home, which allows young men and women coming out of the foster care system to have a home to go to. I'm just a small part of that charity, but I love the art world, I love being a painter. I think there's something there that has a narrative and has a certain kind of structure of storytelling to who I am.” “What is your best advice for being a father?” I ask. “Listen to them, give them love, constant love, love, and only love. I'm a softie, they get away with everything. Thank God for my wife, Keely. She's the one who's very strong and focused. I tend to be a bit more of a dreamer, but that's where the balance comes. Respect your elders, show up on time, work hard. Give of yourself freely and be kind and joyful. you are reading this, no offense, and I still hope you grace our cover.) For all the times I’ve asked my subjects, I have never actually answered the question of what makes a Nobleman for myself. To me, it is someone’s measure of vulnerability by the amount of courage it takes to show up and be seen. You are going to know failure if you're brave with your life, and brave leaders and Noblemen are never silent around hard things. Sometimes winning is not coming in first, sometimes winning is just having the courage to show up. Noblemen don’t take criticism and feedback from people who are not being brave with their lives. And in this sense, Pierce is a Nobleman in more ways than one. He’s someone who shares his story with the people who have earned the right to hear it, and the more you honor that sharing, the more you realize it is a privilege to be told. Pierce is a risk-taker; a dapper, daring gentleman who isn’t afraid to keep going even when life feels like it won’t. He does everything with a certain elegance and grace about him. He’s not immune to failure, but it’s like Theodore Roosevelt once said - “It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. t's a beautiful day in sunny Newport Beach as we meet with Top Gun: Maverick star Danny Ramirez, who is on location at the Noble House. Ramirez seems to match his surroundings perfectly, with an easy smile and quiet confidence, and we dive right in, chatting about everything from his first acting opportunity on a soccer field to working alongside the legendary Tom Cruise. At first glance, Ramirez’s unusual journey to becoming an actor is not easy to guess. Handsome, charming, and well-spoken, he seems to effortlessly embody everything a Hollywood star should be, but his path was far from traditional. In his own words, it was “a weird, convoluted journey.” “I was playing college soccer in Atlanta as a freshman and as I was sitting on the sidelines, injured the first couple weeks as a freshman, on my birthday there was a production filming on my school’s baseball field. It was called The Reluctant Fundamentalist and it starred Riz Ahmed. And the PA from the production came to the soccer practice to ask if anyone wanted to be a soccer player extra in the movie… and 120 bucks seemed to be the best outcome of the day. I saw Riz being the lead of this production and it was the first time I saw someone who looked like me or someone who wasn’t a traditional white, male protagonist leading a film… I realized if Riz could do it I could maybe do it, and I bought my first acting book that day,” says Ramirez. Danny has come a long way from being inspired by Riz Ahmed’s leading role and experienced a “full circle” moment in his role as Joaquín Torres in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. When I asked him what about that role has been most important to him, Ramirez credited Winter Soldier because of “what he means in regards to representation and being a Latino in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.” “I think it was a long time coming, and seeing the impact that I had on all the people [who] reached out about it was really special. So I think that catapulted it to the top of my favorite roles just on the importance of what it's meant for some kids and what it could mean, because I saw Riz Ahmed acting that first time [and] that made me think that I could do it because I saw someone like me as the lead. Hopefully a lot of kids that come from where I come from, look how I look or just identify with me, [will see] that they can also do it and that they have a seat at the table.”

Danny Ramirez’s unexpected journey from a soccer star to a Hollywood actor has been a whirlwind but is far from undeserved. After his role as an extra in The Reluctant Fundamentalist, Ramirez transferred to NYU, where he ended up auditioning for and being accepted to the Tisch School of the Arts. Utilizing techniques and practices he picked up as an athlete, Ramirez excelled and was rewarded. “My last week at NYU, Miles Teller, who is an alumnus, came back to do a master class and I was given some scenes to do for him in this small black box theater. I went ahead and did it and he basically said me and him could be working together at any moment. And I remember being shook at the idea that Miles had said ‘oh we could be working together,’ and then cut to a couple of years later when I got the Top Gun audition and I realized oh, wow, Miles is doing this.” Ramirez credits his proudest moment as an actor thus far from his role as Josh Diamond in Assassination Nation. “When I was filming there’s a scene that me and Hari Nef, who played Bex, were in. And I remember after we finished, the producer and the director left the room, like, gushing about it. And the producer was like, ‘that's a leading man.’ That's it. And I remember just thinking how it was the first validation I've had on the job of not only am I going to be able to do these supporting parts, but he got so hyped and genuinely excited because I was the biggest question mark of the cast. Everyone had done a bunch of things and I had just done a single audition. So hearing that, I was like OK, you know? I still have imposter syndrome all the time, but I was like ‘up until this moment I've done something right.’” Not only is Ramirez extremely talented, but he is a fantastic storyteller, and I find myself forgetting this is an interview as I listen to his tales of flying, his biggest Hollywood moment, and what it was like getting up close and personal with Tom Cruise. When I question him about his experience filming Top Gun, Ramirez has nothing but compliments for the project, although I discover he had a fear of flying before the film. “I didn't factor in the fact that I was afraid of flying because I just didn't think we'd actually fly,” laughs Ramirez. “The moment he mentioned it, it was kind of a surprise, but we were luckily given the best preparation I think anyone could ask for in regards to learning the physics of flight… and honestly, that helped a lot with the fear. So that was a beautiful journey, from being afraid to fly to now being a little bit of an adrenaline junky.” “Throughout that whole time another thing that really stood out was Tom Cruise leading us,” says Ramirez. “At the beginning when

we first met Tom, [he said] ‘By the way, the door's always open if you have any questions. Anything. We picked you six because we think that you six are the next wave of movie stars.’ It was this big, beautiful speech about his belief in us. And my trust issues were like, Sure, that's what everybody says, that’s what everyone wants to hear. But then, throughout the ten months of working on this project, any question at any moment about film, life, acting itself, the technical side of things, editing— anything we had—Tom would be there, Joe would be there, the editor Eddie Hamilton would be there. And so it just stood out to me as one of my favorite things of the whole project, that every door was opened from the very beginning. And I got to learn so much during that year, I thought I was just going to have this cool experience of filming. But it just became a master class of film and of the work ethic it requires to reach a certain level.” Listening to Ramirez, it strikes me just how easy it is to talk to him, and how his genuine kindness and charisma shine through any topic of conversation. A star on the rise, he is humble, funny, and a true gentleman. When I ask him to define what being a Nobleman means to him, Ramirez’s answer is someone with the “self-awareness to continue growing and elevating yourself.” Getting to know Ramirez, I learned that his favorite city is New York, his favorite movie is City of God, his favorite designer is Gucci, and (after much debate) his favorite cuisine is Italian. I also discovered how important philanthropy is to him. “I [would like to] start a foundation at some point or a fund for people who have student loans... for people that have already graduated and have student loans and feel as though they have had to pivot from pursuing their dreams in order to begin paying their loans. Loan forgiveness is something I massively support, but for those who have gone private with their loans, I think finding a way to alleviate some of those stresses that they’ve taken on in order to achieve their dreams, and then having to pivot [that path] to pay for that pursuit of their dreams is something that I am really passionate about.” I ask Ramirez what advice he would like to share and his answer does not disappoint. “Don't be afraid because nobody else knows what they're doing, you belong and you deserve as much as everyone else.” This poignant statement reflects the kind of man Danny Ramirez is, something that is becoming exceedingly rare—a true gentleman. His unmistakable kindness and desire to lift up others is refreshing, and he is definitely one to watch as his career in Hollywood takes off. (...Like a plane. Get it?)

The house style is, of course, a multi-regional blending and sourcing philosophy that unites the very best grapes from the world’s finest regions. Penfolds’ mercurial appetite for exploration remains unquenched since 1844 and their bold winemakers utilize a blend of science, art, and innovation to keep Penfolds on the leading edge. Their unrelenting commitment to quality has been passed down through generations for an unbroken line of vintages. They are strident for collaborative opportunities and ready to show the world what’s next. While their world-renowned Grange has been celebrated for decades, winning over 50 gold medals and fetching wildly high prices for standard vintages, few know that the first vintage was made in 1951 by chief winemaker Max Schubert on an experimental basis—and was mostly given away. It was a project to compete with traditional Bordeaux winemaking techniques, delivering a new take on the process and optimizing ageing potential. It received such terrible reviews at first that Penfolds management commanded Schubert to halt production and the world was almost robbed of one of the best wines ever produced. Schubert continued to age the Grange in secret until 1959, when Schubert’s penchant for challenging authority paid off, as—like most

fine wines—it aged with elegance. The highly popular Grange has become a cornerstone of the brand. In fact, an original 1951 vintage Penfolds Grange is still highly coveted by wine collectors and last traded in 2004 for over $80,000. The latest release from Penfolds is their California Collection, which also began as a top secret experiment back in 1998. An ambitious viticulture program introduced vine cuttings from Penfolds’ most prized vineyards and preserved them as “Heritage Selections.” These vine cuttings were the very best, transplanted from the Penfolds vineyards in South Australia, all the way to another hemisphere, where they found new life in California soil, deep in the Camatta Hills. The ambition was to take on traditional Napa Valley Cabernet producers, much like Schubert took on the Bordeaux makers back in the 1950s, but it would take time to perfect.

expressions are rich malt, bone marrow, and a rich dark-berried spectrum that teases out flavors of blackberry, blueberry, and boysenberry. The California Collection is more than just the 2018 Quantum Bin 98; there are three more expressions in the quartet presented by Penfolds. Similarly to the Quantum, the 2018 Bin 149 Cabernet Sauvignon is aged for 16 months in 80% new American oak and 20% new French oak; however, it is emboldened by a 100% Cabernet grape variety. The 2018 Bin 704 is also 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, however the maturation process expressed is 16 months in all French oak with 40% new barrels. Bin 704 is an homage to the Bin 407 Australian counterpart, recognizing that this curation is a hemispherical mirror image with respect to varietal expression. Lastly, the 2018 Bin 600 Cabernet Shiraz blend—which draws its name from the original vineyard Creston “Old 600” Ranch

That is exactly what the 2018 Quantum Bin 98 Cabernet Sauvignon from Penfolds’ California Collection earned. In a review by Meridith May of Somm Journal, she awarded it a very exclusive 100 points. The wine's flavor palate is an absolute marvel and Nobleman agrees with the 100 point review. Quantum Bin 98 is matured for 16 months in 80% new American oak and 20% new French oak, and delivers a hemispherical balance of Napa Cabernet and South Australian Shiraz with intense flavors from the structured tannins. The grape varieties are playfully balanced with 87% Cabernet with 13% Shiraz. The aromatic

a great investment. Alternatively, you may wish you had never sold that house given what it could be worth today. If you plan on being around for another 10 years, there is no better longterm investment than real estate. Why? Because real estate offers leverage, tax advantages, and long-term wealth building. Leverage is key. For example, putting $40,000 down on a $400,000 condo and having that condo price appreciate to $600,000 just turned your $20,000 into $200,000 and grew your investment by ten times. This isn’t always possible with stocks. Next, the tax advantages are endless. Tax advantages include depreciation, 1031 exchanges, and potentially a QBI deduction. However the biggest advantage of all is the longterm building of wealth. The wealthiest people you know all own real estate. In Southern California in particular, there’s a real estate millionaire on every corner. As our life is (somewhat) returning to normal, there’s no better time to think about the future and how you plan to build your wealth in the smartest way possible.

With the crazy year we’ve had and the real estate market shifts endured due to COVID-19, it’s hard to think about permanence. Investing in real estate is a long-term play and historically, over any 10-year period, paid off, especially in Southern California. Warren Buffett coined the phrase, “If you aren’t willing to own a stock for 10 years, don’t even think about owning it for 10 minutes.” Real estate is the same philosophy but even more so. The biggest difference is stocks can disappear and companies might go out of business, but real estate remains. The best reasons to still invest in real estate, even now when things are hot can be attributed to a few things. First, interest rates have never been better. This makes leveraging your money right now very attractive. Second, inflation, inflation, inflation. When you get a 30-year fixed mortgage, you have the same payment on that house until you pay it off. Meanwhile, rent prices are going up with everything else that is also going up. You might remember buying your first home for, for example, $150,000. In retrospect, purchasing 10 of these homes would have been

SUNREEF POWER 60 MIAMI, FLORIDA

The latest installment of our “Evening of Luxury” series brought NOBLEMAN to Miami where we partnered with SunReef yachts on an unforgettable event. VIPs were treated to an exclusive experience aboard the new SunReef Power 60 yacht coupled with a waterfront dinner at SeaSpice, handcrafted cocktails, and incredible caviar. The yacht was docked directly alongside the restaurant for a seamless experience. Upon entering, the Maserati Trofeo collection was on display. As they arrived, guests were greeted with a show-stopping view of both the Levante and Ghibli models. Not even a little Miami rain could dampen the mood, as guests laughed over delicious glasses of Armand de Brignac Brut Gold and Rose champagnes and a selection of Astrea caviars while enjoying the beautiful water views. The impressive boat was a true sight to behold, and the ultimate luxury experience for guests in attendance. Equipped with a chef ’s kitchen, spacious lounge decks, and even a gym, it was truly extraordinary. Cocktail hour was complete with a selection of unbeatable beverage options, including the incredible Alfred GIRAUD French Malt Whisky, Beluga Vodka and Herradura Tequila. Dinner commenced at the lively deck, where we enjoyed a dazzling 4-course meal while sharing stories and laughs. The food paired exquisitely with wine from Red Car, and we were treated with a vibrant Chardonnay and a delicious Rose. Family style starters made way for an incredible array of main courses, with the perfectly aged ribeye emerging as a clear favorite. Glasses of “The Pact,” a wonderful Cabernet Sauvignon by Faust were enjoyed by all, and the final course of extraordinary desserts left everyone in a true state of bliss. As the evening came to a close, we were lucky enough for a special treat, a round of Cohiba Cigars, and an incredible glass of Alfred GIRAUD whiskey, the perfect way to wrap up a memorable night. This Labor Day Weekend, Luxury Rally Club partnered with the Wine Festival and Car Show at the Driving Range in Rolling Hills to create a truly unforgettable experience. The elegant show highlighted some of the most incredible vehicles and guests voted for the best Vintage car award and best Supercar award.
