Project 1 < Game controller < research < process
Korea Express, 35x5x8cm, XPS, Mirror paper, Acrylic 2021 In commemoration of the fact that Busan is the final destination of the trans-Eurasian train to be opened in the future, it was decided to design a train featuring Korea’s characteristics. Since the existing high-speed trains looked a lot like overseas trains, many researches were conducted to create independent designs of Korea. Among them, it was inspired by the design of the K5. The front part of the train was designed with the motif of tiger, the symbol animal of Korea, and the colour of KTX was used to maintain KTX’s identity.
Project 2 < Game Controller < research < process
Game Controller, 21x5x6 cm, XPS, Lacquer 2021 I had an experience where my hands hurt from holding my phone for a long time while playing mobile games. Inspired by this experience, I looked for products with grips familiar to human hands and found an old wooden rifle. Based on that, I made a handle-shaped controller of wooden rifle and connected it to a mobile phone so that it can be used anywhere. The overall colour of the product was inspired by Nintendo’s products.
Project 5 < Armchair < research < process
Armchair, 45x43x70 cm, Fabric, Cotton, Acrylic, Cardboard, 2021 This chair is an armchair for modern people living hard lives. Not only is it an armchair function, but it also has an inner speaker, which connects it to a cell phone and listens to music. In addition, soundproofing was placed at the top of the head to prevent external noise. It also has a function of changing the position of sitting on the legs of a chair. The outer part expresses the changes in the sky by time zone and displays the city’s night view by attaching mirrors in places. It was painted black to create a comfortable atmosphere on the inside, giving it a feeling of being in the night sky.
Project 6 < Insect Repellent < research < process
Insect Repellent 55x52x11 cm, Foamboard, Wood, Gymsup Tape 2021 This design is the insect repellent’s design. The design designed to fight them and not harm the interior of the house. The overall shape was inspired by various kinds of flowers. Inside each leaf section, a sensor that sends out frequencies that bugs dislike, making it function without damaging its shape. The shiny part in the middle is modeled after the surgery of the flower. It is made for some bugs that can avoid sensors, and when they come close to the light in the middle, an inner motor sucks in nearby bugs. It has a function to fight off bugs and can also act as a mood light emitting subtle light.
