FOREWORD

藝術無疆界，創作及欣賞藝術是每個人與生俱來的權利。香港藝術節 自 2019 年起與香港賽馬會慈善信託基金一起舉辦「無限亮」計劃以 來，見證了很多不同能力藝術家的造詣和無限創作力。今年「無限亮」 邁入六週年，我們不但邀請了本地及海外不同能力的演藝精英相聚一 堂，更聚焦藝術家所表達的議題，彰顯共融藝術作品的精髓。

Creativity has no boundaries. We all have the right to pursue and enjoy the arts.

本屆「無限亮」邀請了二十位來自香港及世界各地的優秀藝術家，帶 來六套、共十七場精采的現場表演及放映活動。節目類型涵蓋音樂、 戲劇、舞蹈及電影等多個範疇。 教育及社區參與亦是「無限亮」多年來致力推動的重點項目。我們將 透過多元化的網上及現場加料活動、工作坊、講座及圓桌討論，讓 參加者能夠加深對不同能力人士的認識，並且了解更多與共融相關的 議題，從而為社會帶來積極正面的改變。 今 年「 無 限 亮 」 很 高 興 能 夠 與 香 港 演 藝 學 院 戲 劇 學 院 及 舞 蹈 學 院 合作，開展「無限亮實習體驗計劃」，讓學生在專業萌芽階段已有 機會參與共融藝術的製作。 我衷心感謝香港賽馬會慈善信託基金一直與我們聯合呈獻這項年度 計劃，將共融藝術理念拓展到社區每一個角落。「無限亮」得以順利 舉 辦， 亦 有 賴 香 港 展 能 藝 術 會 在 藝 術 通 達 方 面 提 供 的 寶 貴 意 見 及 協助，讓不同能力人士均可以在無障礙的環境下欣賞、參與及擁抱 藝術。 謹代表香港藝術節團隊，歡迎大家欣賞本年度「無限亮」計劃的節目 及演出。

Since its inauguration in 2019 by the Hong Kong Arts Festival and The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, “No Limits” has showcased a wide range of outstanding work by professional artists, performers and musicians with disabilities. In 2024, for the sixth edition of the event, in addition to inviting highc a l i b re l o c a l a n d i n t e r n a t i o n a l performers to demonstrate their artistry, we also present works that provide background and context to some of the specific issues faced by individuals and artists in disabled communities.

This year, “No Limits” presents work by 20 artists from Hong Kong and around the world. The programme includes six performances spanning music, theatre and dance, as well as online film screenings featuring works by influential filmmakers and actors from Europe and Asia.

“No Limits” is founded on a platform of inclusivity, creativity, community engagement and educational outreach. Alongside performances and screenings, we also offer a series of PLUS events. These include workshops, sharing sessions and

an online roundtable discussion designed to offer participants the chance to learn about the lives of people with disabilities, to understand the importance of diversity and inclusion, and exchange ideas on how to foster positive social change.

This year, “No Limits” is pleased to collaborate with The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts’ School of Drama and School of Dance on the “No Limits” Internship Experience Programme, offering students handson experience in producing inclusive arts events during the early stages of their career.

I would like to thank The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust for copresenting this important annual project with us, and for its continuous support in promoting inclusivity through the arts. We also extend our thanks to the Arts with the Disabled A ss o c i a t i o n H o n g Ko n g fo r i t s invaluable support, and the provision of accessibility services enabling differently-abled people to experience the arts together.

Art transcends individual abilities and embraces limitless forms of expression. The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust is therefore delighted to have partnered with the Hong Kong Arts Festival Society since 2019 to co-present “No Limits”. This admirable initiative aims to break down barriers, ignite imagination and spread boundless positive energy by showcasing the talents of differentlyabled local and overseas artists.

Under the theme “Showcasing Human Perspectives”, the latest edition of “No Limits” will deliver a captivating array of programmes through music, dance, theatre, film and more, to share the experiences of performers with disabilities from various perspectives, such as their daily lives, interpersonal relationships and societal expectations.

The accompanying Jockey Club “No Limits” Education and Community Programmes, including lectures, workshops and online roundtable discussions, wil l bring together participants from different regions and sectors. By creating a collaborative environment for exploring topics of mutual interest, knowledge and experience sharing, and promoting c ro ss - s e c t o ra l co o p e ra t i o n , t h e initiative has the power to ignite participants’ boundless creativity and promote inclusive arts.

The Club is steadfastly committed to advancing art, culture and conservation, to build a culturally vibrant Hong Kong and enrich lives. It is also dedicated to promoting social inclusion by supporting diverse arts and cultural projects. This commitment is exemplified by its long-standing support for the Hong Kong Arts Festival over the past half century, its conservation and revitalisation of the Central Police Station Compound into Tai Kwun, and support for the establishment of the Hong Kong Palace Museum.

The Club’s support for various arts and cultural projects aligns with its purpose of acting continuously for the betterment of society. Its contributions are made possible by its unique integrated business model through which betting and lottery revenue are returned to the community in the form of tax payments and charitable donations.

香港藝術節是一所非牟利 機構，於 1973 年正式揭幕， 是地區內舉足輕重的表演 藝 術 節， 亦 是 國 際 藝 壇 中 重要的文化盛事。

The Hong Kong Arts Festival (HKAF), a non-profit organisation launched in 1973, is a major international arts festival committed to enriching the cultural life of the city.

「無限亮」由香港藝術節及香港賽馬會 慈 善 信 託 基 金 聯 合 呈 獻， 於 2019 年 首 次 舉 辦。 計 劃 致 力 透 過 藝 術 活 動， 創造無障礙的環境，促進社會的包容與 共融。

香港藝術節於每年 2 月至 3 月 期 間 呈 獻 超 過 1,500 位 優秀本地及國際藝術家逾 130 場 的 演 出， 節 目 式 式 俱 備， 既 顧 及 古 典 傳 統 口 味， 亦 兼備大膽創新的表演形式。

In February and March every year, HKAF presents over 1,500 leading local and international artists in more than 130 performances of all genres, placing equal importance on great traditions and contemporary creations.

第 六 屆「 無 限 亮 」 將 於 2024 年 繼 續 呈 獻 多 個 音 樂、 舞 蹈、 戲 劇 及 電 影 等 節 目。 由 一 眾 來 自 世 界 各 地 與 本 地 不 同 能 力 藝 術 家， 衝 破 界 限， 創 造 出無限精采的藝術世界，為觀眾帶來獨 一無二的表演。

香港藝術節多年來積極委約 及 製 作 本 地 全 新 的 粵 劇、 戲 劇、 音 樂、 室 內 歌 劇 及 當 代 舞 蹈 創 作， 不 少 作 品 更 已在香港及海外多度重演。 香 港 藝 術 節 每 年 舉 辦 逾 300 項 針 對 公 眾 及 學 生 的「 加 料 節目」和多元化藝術教育活 動， 致 力 豐 富 香 港 的 文 化 生 活。 其 中「 青 少 年 之 友 」 已 在 過 去 31 年 為 約 820,000 位學生提供藝術體驗活動。

HKAF also commissions and produces Cantonese opera, theatre, music, chamber opera and contemporary dance productions by Hong Kong’s own creative talent and emerging artists, many of which have had successful subsequent runs in Hong Kong and overseas.

Each year, HKAF presents over 300 PLUS and educational activities that offer diverse arts experiences to the general public and students. The HKAF Young Friends scheme has reached around 820,000 students in the past 31 years.

Launched in 2019 and co-presented by the Hong Kong Arts Festival and The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, “No Limits” offers barrier-free performances and events, and explores and promotes inclusiveness and understanding through the arts.

In 2024, the sixth edition of “No Limits” showcases a series of fascinating programmes of music, dance, theatre and film by international and Hong Kong artists of different abilities. “ N o L i m i t s ” 2 0 24 p re s e n t s accessible in-venue and online performances, film screenings and roundtable discussions, as well as outreach and education programmes for young people, highlighting creativity and talent in a variety of forms. Our accessible art services enable enjoyment for all audiences and help us share the importance of inclusion in all areas of life.

藝 術 是 一 種 表 達 方 式， 表 達 的 內 容 往 往 關 乎 日 常 生活、人際關係、工作際遇、社會期望和他人觀感， 而作品本身也必然與藝術家所身處的時代背景和社會 脈絡密不可分。

在第六屆的「無限亮」，我們以「展現溫度與角度」 為主軸，從日常、當下、大家共同關注而感同身受的 議題切入，讓大眾親身體會來自本地及海外不同能力 藝術家的最關心的議題及所思所感。

As a form of human expression, art can tackle all topics – offering different perspectives on everyday life, interpersonal relationships and encounters, social conditions and expectations. But whatever the content, all art is shaped by the historical and social contexts in which it is conceived and created.

今年「無限亮」的亮點節目包括：以色列維帝戈舞團 平 衡 之 力 (Vertigo Power of Balance) 編 創 的 舞 蹈 作品《無形舞軀》，多位不同能力的舞者將凌駕自身 身體條件，合而為一，展現出穩定與不穩定、冒險和 極端之間的關係；來自秘魯廣場劇團的《嗨姆雷特》， 改篇自著名悲劇《哈姆雷特》，作品起用唐氏綜合症 演員，在原有的故事主題和人物角色的基礎上加插演員 的個人經歷，以最簡潔有力的言詞向世界吶喊，亦為 原 作 開 闢 出 更 多 元 的 解 讀 空 間 與 張 力； 日 本 藝 術 家 南村千里以手語和科藝演出獨腳戲《沉默の記譜》， 關注廣島原子彈爆發時期聽障人士不為人知的種種經 歷和感受；意大利演員祈亞娜．貝爾薩尼以形體作品 《溫柔的獨角獸》突破神話，在看似有軀殼限制下實現 對身體自主的迫切關注，挑戰觀眾對表演藝術的固有 概 念； 本 地 重 點 藝 術 家 作 品， 包 括 鋼 琴 家 李 昇 送 上 《回憶的溫度》獨奏會，以貝多芬、舒曼名曲娓娓道出 他與鋼琴為伴十多年的心路歷程，藉琴音傳遞溫度， 展現人生的不同階段和面向；小提琴家丁怡杰，自 2019 年首踏「無限亮」後，經過多年更專業訓練及學習，今 次在《弦起的故事》以全新面貌向觀眾展現其音樂才華。 網上節目今年除了首度引入來自比利時的七集電視劇 《朱古力敢愛隊》，盡顯唐氏綜合症男孩的暖男本色， 更 會 放 映 多 部 重 要 影 像 作 品， 包 括 日 本 紀 錄 片 大 師 原 一 男 的《 再 見 CP 》、 動 畫 佳 作《 沖 天 小 企 鵝 》 及 《女神狂想曲》。 希望觀眾能透過不同的節目及藝術形式發掘出彼此的 關注、彼此的聯繫。

The sixth edition of “No Limits” showcases human perspectives through works that address topical issues and problems faced by people in their everyday lives, and features p e r fo r m a n c e s a n d s c re e n i n g s conceived and performed by artists with disabilities from Hong Kong and around the world.

Our international in-venue performances include Shape on Us from Vertigo Power of Balance, Israel, a striking work that pushes the physical limits of the dancers and challenges taboos around looking at the different body; Hamlet by Teatro La Plaza, Peru, a freely adapted version of Shakespeare’s classic play performed by a group of young people with Down syndrome, that blends personal experience and new perspectives and interpretations; S c o re d i n S i l e n c e b y C h i s a t o Minamimura, a solo digital signlanguage performance that unpacks the hidden perspectives of Deaf survivors of the atomic bomb atrocity in Japan; and Gentle Unicorn by

Italian performance artist Chiara Bersani, a thought-provoking solo piece that explores the interpretations given to bodies that meet societal expectations in different ways.

Local highlights include Reminiscing: A Piano Recital by Lee Shing, an intimate look at the different stages of Lee’s personal musical journey, featuring works by Beethoven and Schumann; and a virtuoso violin recital A Story in Strings by musician Ding Yijie, who returns to “No Limits” after her charismatic first appearance in 2019.

Our online programme includes the seven-episode TV drama series Team Chocolate, a heart-warming romantic comedy from Belgium, as well as acclaimed Japanese filmmaker Kazuo Hara’s searing documentary debut Goodbye CP about a group of activists from the cerebral palsy community in 1970s Japan, and two animated short films from the UK, The Penguin Who Couldn’t Swim about disability, bullying and determination, and All for Claire, about empowerment, control and rejection.

The breadth and scope of human perspectives shared in this programme range from uplifting and hopeful to challenging and confronting – but all of them offer eye-opening insight into the importance of diversity and inclusion in creative and unique ways.

時光荏苒，歲月如梭，今年邁入人生 第 35 個年頭的李昇是獨當一面的香港 鋼琴家，不但活躍於各類型演出，亦 曾與不同藝術家及樂團合作。回首人 生上半場，李昇將演奏三首貝多芬及 舒曼的作品，娓娓道出他與鋼琴為伴 十多年的心路歷程，藉琴音傳遞溫度， 展現人生的不同階段和面向。

What would life be like without a piano?

Celebrating Lee Shing’s enduring 20-year passion for music Acclaimed Hong Kong classical p i a n i s t L e e S h i n g p re s e n t s a n exhilarating programme of three significant works that have inspired and shaped his life as a performer.

The recital opens with Beethoven’s Sonata No. 8 in C minor “Pathetique”, a lamentation written when Beethoven was fighting against losing his hearing, and a piece that Lee mastered through memorisation as deteriorating vision began to hinder

his ability to read music. The sonata is followed by Schumann’s “Scenes from Childhood” (Kinderszenen), a piece evoking the dreams and emotions of youth. To close the recital, Lee presents Beethoven’s Sonata No. 30 in E major, a profound piece composed after Beethoven had become deaf, and a reminder of the power of art to provide solace and inspire determination.

李昇 Lee Shing 李 昇 自 幼 習 琴， 專 注 於 古 典 音 樂 演奏。十五歲確診先天性視網膜色素 病變，只能靠着背譜來學習。他希望 透過自身經歷勉勵年青人，宣揚「珍 惜所擁有」的人生觀，以音樂影響生 命。 李昇曾獲得展能藝術發展基金資助， 先後到奧地利薩爾斯堡和維也納學習 及 交 流。 近 年 分 別 得 到 著 名 鋼 琴 家 金美雪及羅乃新的指導，更曾前往美 國紐約卡內基大廳演出。

曲目 PROGRAMME During Lee’s professional career, he has worked on a variety of musical productions and collaborated with numerous local and international musicians and orchestras. Lee has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York and studied under renowned pianists, Michelle Kim and Nancy Loo. In 2013, he was sponsored by the Artists with Disability Development Fund to further his musical studies in Salzburg and Vienna, Austria.

Diagnosed with a congenital eye condition as a teenager, Lee has worked to pave new paths and increase inclusivity and support for disabled artists. As a teacher and mentor for a new generation of performers, Lee helps young artists channel their potential and defy expectations.

As eight dancers with multiple physical abilities break away from the aids that serve some of them in everyday life, a collective organism takes shape in the encounter between unique bodies. Exploring their individual fragilities and needs, the dancers confront the push and pull of rejection and concern, meeting in moments of tension, support, 18

loneliness and love. Gradually, as the piece unfolds, disparate expressions merge to create an astoundingly tender collective language of touch and cooperation.

Shape on Us challenges taboos around looking at the different body.

Powerfully embracing the delicate physical systems that transform involuntary movements into deliberate gestures, it questions our perception of what is considered natural and abnormal.

First presented in 2020, Shape on Us is the product of Vertigo Dance Company’s ongoing engagement with the disability community.

Choreographer Sharon Fridman has worked with his company in Madrid, Spain since 2006. In Israel, he has danced with the Ido Tadmor Dance Company, the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company and the Vertigo Dance Company. During his career, Fridman and his company have won a number of awards, including the Max Award for Best Dance Performance (2015) and the Max Award for Best Choreography (2019). Several international companies hold Fridman’s creations in their repertoire.

The unique approach of integrated contact improvisation allows for a direct physical encounter through spontaneous dance. A bold, joyous and thought-provoking new perspective on a classic work Teatro La Plaza from Lima, Peru presents a bold reimagining of Shakespeare’s classic work, told by and for those who struggle to be accepted.

Sharing their desires and frustrations, a group of young people with Down syndrome take the stage with a freely adapted version of Hamlet.

Constructed around Shakespeare’s original text and personal anecdotes from the actors’ lives, the production explores the play’s central, existential question: “To be or not to be?”

As the characters examine the impact on individuals whose lives have historically been considered

a burden or a social waste, the audience is forced to consider the value and meaning of existence in a contemporary world where human worth is measured against unattainable standards of efficiency, production and beauty.

Blending personal monologues, classical drama, pop music, dance and wry humour, Teatro La Plaza’s Hamlet offers an eye-opening and provocative look at questions of inclusion and discrimination – making us question our own perceptions and values, but ultimately presenting a joyous celebration of life and theatre in all forms.

切拉．德．法拉利 Chela De Ferrari 出 生 於 秘 魯 利 馬。 於 波 多 黎 各 大學里約彼德拉斯分校攻讀繪 畫， 並 於 利 馬 的 劇 場 俱 樂 部 學 習 戲 劇。 在 阿 根 廷 科 爾 多 瓦 為 組合 EXTRAS 執導五年，上演 阿 根 廷 劇 作 及 集 體 創 作。 回 到 秘 魯 後， 獲 邀 到 PUCP 文 化 中 心執導多部作品。 2003 年創辦 廣 場 劇 團， 並 擔 任 劇 團 的 藝 術 總 監 至 2021 年。 2013 年 確 立 促進秘魯新戲劇作品及作家誕 生 的「 產 房 」 計 劃， 推 動 當 地 及海外合作夥伴如倫敦皇家宮 廷 劇 院 的 協 作， 十 年 來 創 作 出 50 多部新作。近年專注栽培女 劇作家，協作她們創作新劇。

Born in Lima, Peru, Chela De Ferrari studied painting at the University of Puerto Rico in Rio Piedras, and theatre at the Club de Teatro de Lima. In Córdoba, Argentina, she directed the group EXTRAS for five years, staging collective creations and plays by Argentine authors. After returning to Peru, she was invited to direct several productions at the PUCP Cultural Center. In 2003 she founded the non-profit institution Teatro La Plaza, where she was also artistic director until 2021. In 2013 De Ferrari created Sala de Parto, a Teatro La Plaza programme designed to inspire and support new Peruvian playwriting. In the past 10 years, in collaboration with local and international partners, such as the Royal Court in London, Sala de Parto has helped to give birth to more than 50 plays.

Recently, the programme has focused on providing support for women creators, and accompanying them in their process of creating new plays.

A visceral visualisation of sound inspired by the personal stories of Deaf survivors of the atomic bomb Scored in Silence is an exquisite, digital solo sign language performance by London-based Deaf Japanese artist and choreographer Chisato Minamimura. Through a breathtaking combination of signing, mime, projected 3D animation, video footage, sounds and vibration, the performance unpacks the hidden, personal perspectives of the small number of Deaf people who survived the horrors of the atomic bomb atrocity in Japan in 1945.

Presenting excerpts of original recorded interviews of elderly Deaf people with lived experiences of Hiroshima, Scored in Silence is an imaginative piece of documentary theatre that brings to life the haunting untold narratives of this doubly stigmatised group of hibakusha – those affected by the bomb. Touching upon the atrocity of the event and its aftermath, the piece reveals the devastating layers of discrimination ex p e r i e n c e d by t h e s e i s o l a t e d members of Japanese society.

Minamimura’s beautifully expressive interaction with the video footages and Holo-gauze screen animations create a powerful visualisation of sound and silent horror. Accessible and meaningful for Deaf, hearingimpaired and general audiences, Scored in Silence gives voice to those who are disenfranchised, and offers audiences insight into how Deaf people perceive the world around them.

Scored in Silence is performed in Hong Kong Sign Language with English and Chinese Surtitles, Optional Woojer vibration straps offer a physical experience of the soundtrack.

南村千里 Chisato Minamimura 南村千里是一名聾人表演者、編 舞 家 及 英 國 手 語 藝 術 導 賞 員。 她生於日本，現居倫敦，創作、 演出與教學經驗甚豐，足跡遍及 全球各地，現為國際知名舞蹈中 心 The Place 的 夥 伴 藝 術 家。 她在橫濱國立大學完成學士（日 本畫）及碩士學位，於三一拉邦 音樂舞蹈學院接受專業訓練。她 的聾人身份與自身經驗，使其在 編舞及表演領域獨辟蹊徑，持續 探索與實驗聲音與音樂的視覺演 繹。她結合舞蹈與科技，致力呈 現個人感知及與人交流的經驗。

Chisato Minamimura is a Deaf performance artist, choreographer and British Sign Language art guide. Born in Japan and now bas ed in Londo n, Mina mimura has created, performed and taught internationally and is currently a Work Place artist at The Place. Minamimura trained at Trinity Laban in London and holds a BA in Japanese Painting and MA from Yokohama National University.

Minamimura approaches choreography and performance making from her unique perspective as a Deaf artist, experimenting with and exploring the visualisation of sound and music. By using dance and technology, Minamimura aims to share her experiences of sensory perception and human encounters.

因為堅持 讓音樂成為夢想高飛的動力 小提琴新星挑戰高難度樂曲 以弓弦讓世界看見 千禧後小提琴家丁怡杰於 2019 年首次 以獨奏身份亮相「無限亮」舞台，當 年一曲帕格尼尼第 24 號隨想曲技驚四 座，贏得觀眾熱烈讚賞。睽違四年， 現年 23 歲的丁怡杰再參加「無限亮」 的演出演奏孟德爾頌的《乘着歌聲的 翅膀》及貝多芬的第七小提琴奏鳴曲。 貝多芬晚年雖雙耳失聰仍譜出不朽傑 作， 丁 怡 杰 受 此 啟 發， 希 望 能 透 過 貝多芬的作品，讓世界也能看到自己。 為突破自己更上一層樓，丁怡杰將演 繹韋尼奧夫斯基的高難度作品《浮士 德幻想曲》，展現成熟穩健的演奏實 力，並分享多首兒時喜愛的抒情樂曲， 包括德伏札克的《母親教我的歌》及 柴可夫斯基的《憂傷圓舞曲》，以天 籟之樂打動觀眾的心靈。

A vibrant rising star shares her passion for music Award-winning violinist Ding Yijie returns to No Limits with a classical recital celebrating her musical passion and mastery. In 2019, Ding opened the No Limits programme as an accomplished emerging performer, receiving critical acclaim for her performance of Paganini’s Caprice No. 24. In this second recital, Ding showcases her musical development with an ambitious repertoire of works that have played an influential role in her career.

The programme includes virtuoso presentations of Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No.7, Henryk Wieniawski’s challenging piece Faust Fantasy, a n d a s e l e c t i o n o f wo r k s f ro m Mendelssohn, Dvo ák and Tchaikovsky – all of which hold special childhood memories.

Born in the early 2000s, Ding is the first and only blind student to major in the violin at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. She has performed internationally in Japan, Austria and Germany, and been recognised with a number of awards. In 2022, she won the VSA International Young Soloist Competition and was named Best Performance at the 19th Gold Concert organised by the Japan Barrierfree Association, and in 2021, she was awarded the special jury prize at the HKGNA International Music Competition, as well as second prize in the young artist section.

We are delighted to welcome Ding back to the No Limits stage, and to showcase the exceptional talents of a bright and inspiring young performer.

丁怡杰 Ding Yijie Ding Yijie was born and raised in Foshan City, Guangdong, China.

She began learning the violin at the age of six. In 2018, she made history as the first blind violin student at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), where she pursued a Bachelor’s degree with a full scholarship. Currently Ding is in the second year of her Master's degree at HKAPA, where she is mentored by Professor Michael 丁 怡 杰， 出 生 於 廣 東 佛 山。 從 小 愛 好 廣 Ma. Quiet and thought-provoking, Gentle Unicorn is a deceptively simple work of physical theatre that bewitches the audience and slows time, revealing the impossibly magical creature as wholly and terribly human.

Award-winning Italian artist Chiara Bersani creates work that examines the politics and meaning of the body in society. With Gentle Unicorn she explores the interpretations given to bodies that meet societal expectations in different ways. Alone on stage, Bersani takes control of the way we view her, gently challenging us to lock eyes with her and look. As she

unflinchingly returns our gaze, subtly subverting hints of voyeurism, we are also forced to look at ourselves.

As an actor and performer, Bersani is trained in theatrical re s e a rc h , co n t e m p o ra r y d a n c e and performance, and has worked w i t h r e n o w n e d c o n t e m p o ra r y performance artists such as Rodrigo Garcia, Jérôme Bel and Alessandro S c i a rro n i . Chiara Bersani is an Italian performer and author active in the field of performing arts, research theatre and contemporary dance. Her works, presented in international circuits, are born as creations in dialogue with spaces of different natures. She was awarded the 2018 UBU Award for best new actor/performer under 35. In August 2019, at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Gentle Unicorn was awarded first prize in the dance category of the Total Theatre Awards.

Chiara Bersani is an artist in the Advancing Performing Arts Project – Feminist Future, a project co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union.

《再見 CP》將殘疾人士視為主體，成 功把 CP 患者的個人意志及自主能力展 現在觀眾眼前，是珍貴的影像紀錄。 電影上映初年，《再見 CP》不僅受到 年青一代青睞，更獲得學界好評，傳 遍全國各地，放映活動連綿不絕。電 影至今仍然是日本大學的教育、社會 及福祉學系新生必讀的經典教材。

An unsentimental portrait of adults with cerebral palsy – and a critique of Japanese society in the 70s – the first work of influential Japanese documentary filmmaker Kazuo Hara Japanese filmmaker Kazuo Hara’s documentary Goodbye CP presents an unflinching, compassionate and complex portrait of adults with cerebral palsy. Produced in 1972, the searing critique of society’s treatment of disabled people with cerebral palsy, would have a lasting impact on discourse around disability in Japan.

Goodbye CP was Hara’s first film.

Blending confrontational interviews with raw footage of its subjects’ everyday struggles, the documentary

allows them to turn the gaze back on society, forcing us to acknowledge the prejudices and difficulties faced by individuals who struggle to have their existence recognised. Powerful and unsettling, Goodbye CP outlined the style, tone and subject matter for Hara’s subsequent work and career – championing the disenfranchised and those considered outsiders, and influencing and setting the bar for generations of filmmakers around the world.

Japanese filmmaker Kazuo Hara was born in 1945. After dropping out of Tokyo College of Photography he worked as a care worker at a school for disabled children, and began to shoot a series of photos that would become his first solo exhibition Baka ni Sunna (Don’t Make Fun of Me). In 1971, Hara founded the independent film company Shisso Productions with his wife, producer and primary collaborator Sachiko Kobayashi, and, the following year, made his directorial debut with the documentary Goodbye CP. His films, Extreme Private Eros: Love Song 1974 (1974), The Emperor’s Naked Army Marches On (1987) and A Dedicated Life (1994), would confirm his pioneering actiondocumentary style and garner international acclaim. Hara’s other work includes A Dedicated Life (1994), Many Faces of Chika (2005), Sennan Asbestos Disaster (2017) and Minamata Mandala (2020), a three-part, six-hour epic shot over 15 years, about the individuals fighting for legal recognition and compensation for a community poisoned by industrial wastewater.

All for Claire is a short animated love story with a twist. Written, directed and produced by Simon Mckeown, an awardwinning UK artist renowned for his work on disability, the thought-provoking 3D animation chal lenges perceptions of empowerment, control and rejection.

Created in collaboration with internationally recognised dancer and choreographer Claire Cunningham, one of the UK’s most acclaimed disabled performers, it recreates Cunningham’s unique movements and use of crutches through motion-capture technology.

Al l for Claire was awarded Best Experimental Film at the 2011 Deaffest, UK. Sponsored by DaDaFest International 2010 and BBC BigScreen, the animation has been screened at international film festivals and on BBC Big Screens throughout the UK. In 2019, All for Claire was selected as part of the British Film Institute (BFI) Disabled Britain on Film permanent collection for capturing and raising the visibility of disability art and culture.

學校巡迴話劇演出 《 藝 術 家 ，要 搬 家 ！？ 》

今年的巡迴演出將透過互動劇場的表演形式，深入淺出傳遞劇中信息， 令學生認識不同形式的藝術並從中帶出共融的理念。 故事講述地產界富二代錢小小，有意改建集團名下有噪音、塗鴉等問 題的舊式大廈。她一心打算將租戶趕走，重建成更有商業價值的住宅 項目。可是當小小親身到場視察，卻發現原來所謂的塗鴉，是輪椅使 用者視覺藝術家的作品；所謂噪音，則是視障鋼琴家的演奏。這些藝 術家令整座大廈充滿藝術美感和氛圍，亦見證身體上的殘疾無礙藝術 創意。 小小在意識到藝術與共融的可貴後，最終會放棄她的改建計劃嗎？ 各戶租客又能否繼續留在大廈，延續各自的藝術理念呢？

This year’s school tour presents an interactive theatrical performance that encourages students to explore concepts of inclusion in everyday life and across different art forms.

Tina, the daughter of a property tycoon, is looking to remodel one of the company’s old buildings known for its problems with graffiti and noise. Before she evicts the tenants and converts the building into a multi-million dollar housing project, Tina visits the property one last time. To her surprise, she discovers that the building has a distinct and uniquely creative character, and that the “graffiti” is actually the work of an artist with physical disabilities, and the “noise” is music played by a visually impaired pianist!

Will Tina realise the value of inclusive arts and withdraw her remodelling plan? Or will the artists lose their home and place for making art in the community?

「無限亮」相信藝術能超越身體和認知障礙，一年一度的先導計劃旨 在打造一個無障礙的學習環境，讓不同能力人士共聚一堂，探索藝術 表達的無限可能性。 今年先導計劃《舞動心語》以共融舞蹈為主題，與社區機構合作，讓 不同能力人士可透過創意律動表達自己，並提升身體和情感健康。計 劃涵蓋不同形式，包括工作坊、創作分享、社區參與等；並由經驗豐 富的藝術家和導師帶領學員互動，以助學員發展其藝術潛能，擴闊共 融視野，並增強創造力。學員亦可透過計劃與社區連結，培養社區歸 屬感並增強交流。

At the heart of No Limits is the belief that art transcends physical and cognitive abilities while embracing the boundless power of imagination. The 2024 No Limits Pilot Creative Programme, The Story of Motion, aims to create a barrier-free environment where participants with different abilities can come together and explore the limitless possibilities of artistic expression.

No Limits Pilot Creative Programme

The Story of Motion is an inclusive dance project presented in collaboration with local community centres. It is designed to provide individuals with disabilities opportunities to engage in creative movement and artistic expression, and to help foster physical and emotional well-being. Through workshops, creative sharing sessions, community engagement, and interactive activities led by experienced artists and mentors, participants will be encouraged to acquire new skills, gain confidence in their creative talents, and develop and broaden their artistic horizons and abilities.

香港展能藝術會於1986年成立為非牟利慈善團體，也是Access/VSA 國際網絡2023和香港社會服務聯會成員。本會宗旨是「藝術同參與． 傷健共展能」，我們深信每個人都有創作藝術的潛能，欣賞藝術是 每個人擁有的基本權利。香港展能藝術會是香港唯一全方位開拓 展能藝術的機構，致力推動平等機會，讓殘疾人士參與藝術活動， 發展藝術才能；並倡導透過藝術建立共融的社會。
