WHAT IS THE GOOD BUSINESS CHARTER?

The Good Business Charter is a simple yet effective way to recognise responsible businesses, developed in partnership with the CBI, TUC and FSB. In spite of the plethora of different accreditations available in each sector, to the outside world, confusion still reigns about who is doing business in a responsible way. The Good Business Charter seeks to bring clarity on this, measuring behaviour over 10 components as follows:

“This year we really want to see another town, city or county join York in being a GBC place –where together GBC accredited organisations champion it to others in the area. York has nearly 100 members – wouldn’t it be amazing to see Northants smash that barrier and show them how it’s done!”

Open to private sector, public sector and charities of all sizes, it is attracting organisations from sole traders right up to FTSE100 companies. FREE for the first year and nominal costs thereafter. Launched in February 2020 and currently with over 1,300 accredited organisations including Aviva, Brompton Bicycles, Deloitte, Richer Sounds and University of Northampton.

York became the first GBC city in June 2021 with anchor organisations City of York Council, University of York, York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Aviva championing it to organisations of all sizes in the city.
