Update from Identifying and Measuring Footprint, Handprint and Life-Cycle Analysis Sub-Group
In the short term, the sub-group is busy digging into identifying what each of their own organizations are doing in terms of measuring footprint and handprint. We are looking to gain industry insights through our sub-group members to advise though NLGI how the great industry should measure handprint and footprint.
Once inputs are obtained, the sub-group will develop standardized language documents. These documents will be rolled out for use by NLGI members along with LCA educational opportunities for the industry and to review use of documents.

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) aims to quantify the environmental impacts that arise from material inputs and outputs, such as energy use or air emissions, over a product’s entire life cycle to assist consumers in making decisions that will benefit the environment.*
Update from Sustainability Subcommittee #2: Regular Updates from Experts in the Fields of Sustainability, Webinars and Publications
Subcommittee #2 was developed to provide the NLGI member companies with resources and information from experts in the field of sustainability. This Subcommittee’s goals focus on openly sharing information from the NLGI Sustainability Committee, along with sharing sustainability related information within the industry.
The NLGI Sustainability Committee will be releasing a series of articles on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) in the Sustainability Series over the next year. Each article in the series will dive a little deeper into the different aspects of LCA.
The series consists of the following topics:

• The Gate to the Grave Losses in Use
• Performance, Reliability and Sustainability Impacts
• Applied Sustainability
