Thisterm,agroupofourstudentstravelledtoLondontotakepartinaModelUnitedNationsconferencehostedatNorthLondon CollegiateSchoolandtheyreturnedwith their confidence, their curiosity,and their voices expanded.
Across four days of committee sessions and General Assembly debate, our delegates threw themselves into the work of diplomacy with impressive commitment. In the lead up to the tripstudentswereassignedtocountriesandtopicswhichthey researched and prepared to represent. During the committee sessionstheydraftedresolutions,andarguedtheirpositionsin frontofpeersfromschoolsacrosstheworld.Whatstruckstaff most was not just the quality of the arguments our students made, but the manner in which they made them; measured, articulate, and genuinely willing to engage with views that challengedtheirown.
Between sessions, London itself provided a fitting backdrop. Visits to the Natural History Museum, a performance of The Lion King in the West End, and an evening walk past the Cenotaph, Big Ben and the South Bankallofferedmomentstoconnecttheconferenceroom tothewiderworldourstudentswerebeingaskedtothink about.
It was a trip that demonstrated what our students are capable of when they are given a real audience and a real challenge. We could not have been prouder.
From Politics and Architecture to Transport Engineering, Debating and Detective Society, pupils have been exploring big ideas and sharing their passions with others. After pitching their idea, recruiting members and leading weekly sessions, students gain valuable skills in leadership, teamwork,organisationandpublicspeaking.
Grade4studentVirajfoundedPoliticsSocietytohelpothersunderstandhowpoliticsshapestheworldaroundus,whileGrade5 students Jayden and Siwon swapped football for mystery-solving, creating a Detective Society packed with logic puzzles and teamworkchallenges.
Societies are student-led groups that meet weekly and work collaboratively towards a common goal. These can include fostering a shared love of a hobby, celebrating other cultures, or simply learning something new about a topic they enjoy. Across NLCS (Singapore), there are over 40 societies spanning the Arts, Academics, Service, and more. From Amnesty to Applied Mathematics to Art for Action, there are a host of societies for studentsingrades6to12tojoin.

OnestudentearnedaprestigiousGoldaward,placingamongthetop15%of more than 5,000 participants from 127 schools worldwide. An additional 20 studentsachievedSilverawards,rankingwithinthetop25%ofallentrants.
This year's results are particularly noteworthy, with our students securing twiceasmanyawardsaslastyear.WeareincrediblyproudofalltheGrade10 students who took part, demonstrating enthusiasm, resilience, and a strong aptitude for chemistry. The most meaningful lessons often take place far beyond the classroom walls.
This year’s Senior School Week Without Walls was another outstanding success, providing students with the opportunity to broaden horizons, build confidence and resilience, and experience learning beyond the classroom setting.
Across the week, students embarked on a diverse range of adventures and cultural experiences throughout Asia and beyond.Grade6studentsexploredtherichhistoryandheritage ofMalacca,Malaysia,whileGrade7travelledtoKanchanaburi, Thailand, gaining valuable insights into both the regionʼs culture and its historical significance. Grade 8 students experiencedthevibrantenergyandbeautyofHongKong,and Grade9immersedthemselvesinthecultureandcommunities ofCambodia.Meanwhile,Grades10and11venturedtothevast landscapes of Mongolia, enjoying a truly unique and unforgettable experience. Along the way, students forged new friendships, developed greater independence, and embraced opportunities to learn from different environments, perspectives, and traditions, creating lasting memories and broadeningtheirunderstandingoftheworldaroundthem.
Alongside these year-group residentials, students also participated in a range of enrichment trips, including a cultural exploration in Paris, a Music Tour of London, a Scuba Diving expedition in Tioman, an educational, cultural and experiential visit to Chengdu, China, and a student exchange programme with NLCS Jeju.
Throughout the week, students embraced new challenges and opportunities. Whether kayaking or floating down rivers, hiking through spectacular scenery, swimming, rock climbing, engaging with local communities, or discovering different cultures and traditions, every experience was designed to help students develop academic and personal skills while fostering independence and curiosity.

As this was the first time NLCS (Singapore) had participated in these events, the achievements are particularly noteworthy. TheGrade5productionofMatildawasaspectacularcelebrationoftalent, teamwork, and creativity, with every student taking part in the unforgettable performances. Two casts brought the story to life: Cast A featured students from 5.2, 5.3, and 5.6, while Cast B included students from5.1,5.4,and5.5.
Acrossbothcasts,thechildrenimpressedaudienceswiththeirenergeticsinging, confident acting, and lively dancing. They even mastered the skill of riding a scooter and singing at the same time! The main cast members truly shone in theirrolesasMatilda,MissHoney,MissTrunchbull,andtheWormwoodfamily, witheachcastfeaturingtwostudentssharingeveryprincipalrole.
All of the children's dedication and enthusiasm were evident in every scene, fromthebackstagecrewtothewonderfulactorsanddancers.
Conceived as a natural extension of NLCS (Singapore)’s commitment to excellence in music education and performance, the competition was establishedtoprovideaplatformwhere young musicians could challenge themselves, perform at the highest level, and engage with professional standardsofartistry.
More than simply a school competition, it reflects the school's belief that music plays a vital role in a well-rounded education, developing discipline, creativity,confidence,andemotionalexpression.
The competition actively welcomed participants from both within and beyondtheschoolcommunity,creatingopportunitiesforculturalexchange andsharedartisticgrowth.Wearedeeplygratefultooursponsors:Yamaha Music, ABRSM, Lion Studios, and Impact of Asia, whose generous support helpedmakethiseventpossible.
The final weekend began on Saturday, 6 June, with the Prize Winners’ Concert, featuring outstanding performers from the Junior, Intermediate, and Senior categories. The audience was treated to a series of inspiring performances that demonstrated remarkable technical accomplishment, musicalmaturity,andartisticindividuality.Itwasafittingcelebrationofthe talentanddedicationdisplayedthroughoutthecompetition.
On Sunday, 7 June, the competition culminated in the Concerto Final. Finalists Toby Tan, Kaden Khew, Mira Chin, and Luther Ong performed concertoswiththedistinguishedAsiaVirtuosiOrchestra,joinedbymembers oftheNLCS(Singapore)staffandstudentcommunity.Eachfinalistdelivered a memorable performance, demonstrating poise, artistry, and exceptional musicianshipinaprofessionalconcertsetting.
The performances were adjudicated by an internationally acclaimed panel comprising conductor Joshua Tan, pianist George Harliono, and violinist ZhiJongWang.
In the second half of the concert, George Harliono and Zhi Jong Wang captivated the audience with performances of extraordinary virtuosity and artistry, bringing the inaugural competition to a thrilling conclusion.
The NLCS (Singapore) Young Musician Competition stands as a celebration of young talent, artistic excellence, and the transformative power of music to inspire, connect, and elevate communities across Singapore and Asia.

Early Years embarked on an immersive arts experience unlike any other. The Elemental Realms: A Journey Through Wonder transformed our learning environmentintofouruniqueworldsinspiredbyWater,Air,FireandEarth.Each classroombecamearealmfilledwithopportunitiesforexploration,creativity, storytellinganddiscovery.
Attheheartoftheprojectwasasimplebelief:childrenlearnbestwhentheyare curious,engagedandemotionallyconnectedtotheirexperiences.Ratherthan moving through a series of separate activities, the children became active participants in an unfolding narrative. Through three connected storytelling experiences, The Awakening of the Realms, Journey Through the Elemental RealmsandaconcludingreflectioncentredaroundTheFifthElement,children wereinvitedtowonder,imagineandcontributetheirownideastothestory.

While Water, Air, Fire and Earth are important elements of our world, there is a fifth element that brings them all together: Wonder. The wonder that lives within every child.

Thisyear'sJuniorSchoolArtsFestivalinvitedstudentstoexploreTheElementsthroughcreativity,collaborationandperformance. Throughout the four days, students took part in a carefully designed programme of activities, many of which had begun long beforethefestivalitself.
AsignificantvisualartsprojectsawLowerSchoolstudentscollaboratewithvisitingartistNanetteZehndertocreatealarge-scale mosaic installation. Students worked together to grout and tile, creating individual pieces that contributed to a stunning quadriptych,nowpermanentlyhomedoutsidetheFirstSchool.
Musicfeaturedprominentlythroughouttheweek.BothaBigandMiniSingwereheldintheweek,gatheringFirstandLowerSchool Students together to celebrate the joy of collective music-making. Grade 5 students also presented a showcase marking the culmination of their two-year wind band programme. Having begun learning their instruments in Grade 4, students performed Ele(mental), a piece exploring the relationship between the four classical elements and human emotions, much enjoyed by the Grades3and4artists,inspiringthemfortheupcomingyearoftheirownprogrammes.
DancewasanotherimportantpartofthefestivalwithstylesfromK-Poptocontemporary.Thelivelywhole-schooldanceshowcase featured students who had been rehearsing since the beginning of Season 3 CCAs, demonstrating months of commitment and preparation.Alongsidetheseperformances,othergradesparticipatedindanceworkshopsledbyprofessionalinstructorsduring thefestivalitself.
Within the classrooms, students enjoyed carousels of arts activities planned by the grade-level Class Teachers and subject specialists. An impressive array of experiences was on offer with everything from coding to tie dye totes, as well as stunning abstractsculpturesandaminipaintingexhibitioncurrentlyshowcasedintheamphitheatreandlevel2lobbyspaces.
The Junior School Arts Festival celebrated not only the arts but curiosity, participation and creativity. It encouraged students to make connections between their learning and the world around them, while demonstrating that some of the most memorable educationalexperienceshappenwhenstudentsaregivenopenopportunitiestocreate,collaborateandperformtogether.
Overfourdays,studentsselectedaroundsixworkshops,allowingthemtoexplorethethemefrommultipleperspectivesand beyond their usual subjects. Departments approached the theme in distinctive ways: History examined medieval medicine andalchemy,Geographycreatedelementsinspiredartworks,Spanishexploredhumaninteractionwiththeenvironment,and Politicsfocusedonnaturaldisasters.
MandarinstudentsengagedwithtraditionalconceptsthroughTaiChiandcalligraphywhileexploringcreativewritingwitholder students, an area also explored by the English department, while students tried the artistic technique of Pointillism with the Frenchdepartment.DesignandEngineeringTechnologyofferedhands-onprojects,includingcreatingbamboowindchimesand exploringfirethroughpyrography.Studentsalsoledworkshops,fromFormulaOnedesignchallengestodigitalstickercreation, whilephotographysessionsintroducedlightpainting.
Drama featured prominently, with visiting practitioner Adeeb leading storytelling workshops and students collaborating with visiting practitioner Oliver Sayer on Prospero’s Exile, an immersive performance inspired by The Tempest. There were also opportunitiesforstudent-ledproductionsaspartoftheYoungDirectorsinitiative,includingthewarmlyhumorous‘Marvellous Martinelli’,partofwhichwasshowcasedasateaserintheopeningceremony.
The team has shown incredible commitment, dedication, and determination throughout the season,traininghardandcontinuouslydevelopingtheirskills.Theireffortswererewardedwith someverypleasingresultsatboththeFOBISIAandACSISChampionships,wheretheycompeted withenthusiasmandrepresentedNLCSwithpride.
WiththecontinuedsupportandexpertiseofthecoachesfromTheYardGymnasticsClub,thegirls aremakingexcellentprogressbothasaschoolteamandasindividualgymnasts.Theirpassion, resilience, and willingness to improve have created a strong foundation for the future of gymnasticsatNLCS.

Swimmingisasportofdiscipline,gritandsmellinglikechlorinewaterdon'tletthisdiscourage you although swimming sounds like and sometimes is; a boring and grueling sport, it does wonders for focus, disciple and health it also encourages you to adopt healthier dietary habits andbuildsconfidence
FindingoutIwaschosenasAthleteoftheTermwasbothincrediblyhumblingandexhilarating. Morethanpersonalpride,whatIfeltmostwasadeepsenseofgratitude.Swimmingdemands countlessunseenhoursofdisciplineinthepool,butthisrecognitionisn'tjustmine—itbelongs to the coaches who guide me and the teammates who push me every single day. Seeing that collectiveeffortrecognizedisincrediblyvalidating.Itdoesn'tmeantheworkisdone,though;if anything,itʼsapowerfulmotivatortodivebackintotrainingwithevengreaterfocusandtokeep pushingtheboundariesofwhatIcanachieve.

Our third annual Sports Awards, Winston's Big Night Out, once again provided a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the achievements, commitment, and character of our student-athletes throughout the 2025–2026 academic year.
Students, parents, staff, and guests gathered to recognise the many successes achieved by our Bulldog athletes across ACSIS, FOBISIA, and numerous local and international competitions. While trophies, medals, and championship titles were celebrated, the evening also highlighted the values that define NLCS Singapore sport—commitment, resilience, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.
53 PodiumFinishes alongside memorable performances at FOBISIA events and across all three ACSIS seasons. These accomplishments are a testament to the dedication of our athletes, who consistently balanced the demands of training, competition, and academic excellence.

We were especially proud to partner with AWARE as the beneficiary of this year’s Gala. Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of our community, we raised more than $18,000 in support of their important work acrossSingapore.
Reflecting on the event, AWARE described NLCS (Singapore) as “a very special community,” adding that our students have “so much potential to lead with courage and kindness.”
Most importantly, the Gala served as a reminder of whatmakesourSchoolsospecial:acommunityunited bygenerosity,warmth,andacommitmenttomakinga positive difference. As we look ahead, we remain excited to create opportunities for our families to connect,contribute,andcelebratetogether.
SUMMERFESTIVALBRINGSTHEACADEMICYEARTOAJOYFULCLOSE
On Friday 19 June, our school community came together for the much-anticipated Summer Festival,providingtheperfectfinaletothisyear'sArtsFestivalandawonderfulopportunityto celebrateanothersuccessfulacademicyeartogether.
Despite concerns earlier in the week, the weather remained firmly on our side, allowing the holidayatmosphereandsummerspirittoshinethroughouttheafternoon.Families,students, and staff embraced the festival vibes as they enjoyed a wide range of activities across the campus.
The canteen was transformed into a vibrant creative hub, with children enjoying hands-on activities including badge making and painting their own flower pots. Level 2 buzzed with generosityasvisitorsexploredthepre-lovedbookstallandsupportedavarietyofstudent-led serviceinitiativesandfundraisingactivities.
Meanwhile, the Sports Hall became an inflatable paradise, packed with excitement and laughter, while the field hosted some of the day's most popular attractions. From the dunk tanktotheslipandslide,thewaterplayzoneprovidedendlessfunandawelcomewaytocool offinthesummerheat.
Throughout the afternoon, the festival stage came alive with the sounds of our Battle of the Bands performers, whose energy and talent provided the perfect soundtrack to the celebrations.
Asthefestivaldrewtoaclose,itwasclearthattheeventhadachievedexactlywhatitsetout to do: bringing our community together one final time before the summer break. Students and families left with smiles on their faces, wonderful memories to treasure, and hearts full afteranafternoonoffun,friendship,andcommunityspirit.
