house leaders & house captin for 2024/2025 were voted in addition to new roles within the house
success from house competitions were spectacular this year claiiming an almost clean sweep in the creative arts and performance.
Lots of exciting changes on the horizon for the Mulchat community
FAREWELL, MULCHAT
I don’t usually script my assemblies, I have an idea for what I want to say and then let the moment take me, sometimes that works but if I forget something then I can talk about it next time Today’s different though, today is the last one so I wanted to write it down
As most of you know, or should know, the value I place in the House and the competition is the process, in the way we conduct ourselves and not necessarily on the outcome It is nice to win, it has felt great seeing the success this year I will never forget House Song, House Drama, the Ensemble, House Dance, Chant and Art amongst many others and I hope neither will you I have been blown away time and again by the skill, dedication and commitment of those involved and especially those leading However, it has been the way those victories have been won that makes me most proud of you and the work we have all done over the last few years. Inclusion and community has been prioritised over elitism or cliques, kindness has been present and people have been smiling (most of the time). Everytime a teacher says Mulchat is the kindest house, or praises one of you for being warm, polite, upstanding or bold it means far more than goals or points. Mulchat should never be just a team or a competitive entity, it must always be a community You must always strive to build and maintain bonds which can sustain, support and enrich your time at school and beyond The most basic understanding of psychology makes it abundantly clear that us humans need to connect and be part of a greater whole and that we feel safer, less anxious and are more successful when we do How perfect then that a community like that exists for us
So now, to the end Why do we care about endings, why do we feel sad? I suppose it is a form of grief We are sad for what we have lost It is a tangible end to an intangible feeling In these moments it is important to be thankful Thankful for the experiences and the people we’ve met and learned from I have worked with some wonderful people in Mulchat We thanked our tutors earlier but it bears repeating; their presence allows all of the other things to happen. Moreover, Ms Bate has been a fantastic advocate for you all and does so much quiet and meaningful work. And you, the students, past and present. You are without exception brilliant young people with phenomenal potential. I have seen that everyday I have been here. You and I have been fortunate to have wonderful captains who give untold amounts of time up to make the House successful and enjoyable Look no further than Soyul being ready on the smoke machine during House drama; there was no spotlight on her then, no ego, just a small job that needed to be done for her team Time and again I have seen that quiet, essential work being done by so many of you Ellie rounding up athletes on sports day, Song guiding the KS3 art just last week, Ben, Edward and now Susie toiling away on videos and images for you to enjoy, Jooha making the Mulchat performance the most important of the six that week, Siwoo nudging and prodding the boys to run, jump and throw each Friday, Chloris making Plan A - Z contingencies for house drama even when she was on another continent The list goes on and on and will hopefully continue to That is what legacy should mean, not just big moments but all the small actions and efforts which make them possible And that is why I’m not too sad but rather optimistic because I know if you all continue to do what you’ve been doing then Mulchat will go from strength to strength.
Good luck and thank you.
FAREWELL, MULCHAT

THANK YOU YEAR 11
It has been an incredible year in Mulchat House and much of that has to do with the outstanding senior students Year 11 have been outstanding; balancing success in their academics with impressive extra-curricular commitments and their unwavering support and leadership of Mulchat House. They have worked together brilliantly, supported each other and provided the younger years with fantastic role models I am sure they will be in receipt of some incredible GCSE results over the summer and will go on to even greater success in the future. A special thank you to our brilliant captains and leaders they have been superb and have consistently demonstrated the characteristics of a true Mulchatian; Courage, Passion and Kindness. Remember that you will always been a dragon and green at heart!
MESSAGE FROM SOYUL KIM CAPTAIN, 2024-2025
This year, Mulchat has demonstrated what it means to lead with passion, unity, and perseverance. We demonstrated that teamwork and continuously supporting one another are more important for success than simply placing first
Our house has always had a strong sense of community, whether it is on the field or stage When we triumphed in the House Singing and Ensemble competitions, that spirit was particularly evident Our energy, songs, and voices soared higher and louder than any one of us alone. These performances encapsulated Mulchat's spirit of being passionate and bold. In House Drama, where we examined the theme of identity through an uplifting and creatively potent performance, that same spirit carried us. Students from all year groups gave their all, whether on stage or backstage It was a team effort from start to finish, and a reflection of how creativity and collaboration define who we are. But at Mulchat, what truly matters isn’t the outcome, but it’s the journey. It’s the heart we put into every challenge, the effort behind the scenes, and the memories we make along the way. Placings come and go, but growth lasts forever.
This year wouldn’t have been possible without our incredible staff. Head of House, Mr.
Andrew Thomas and Assistant Head of House, Ms Alice Bate, thank you for your steady support, warmth, and belief in every student A warm environment was created where we felt encouraged, valued, and heard. We also want to sincerely thank our Mulchat tutors, whose encouragement and daily support have lifted us up more than we can imagine
To the Year 11 leadership team, thank you for your creativity and dedication You are the young potentials who made things happen without ever needing credit. You’ve led with action and heart, which is the kind of leadership that stays with people And to my fellow House Captain, Benjamin Jun, thank you for helping me guide Mulchat with purpose and care You remind us that real leadership isn't loud, but it’s felt
Lastly, I want to thank all of the Mulchatians Your hard work, your voice, your laughter and your generosity shaped this year. You made a difference, whether you wer or quietly providing support Mulchat is now a place where people are prou
Thank you for shaping this year in such a meaningful and unforgettable way
Once a Mulchatian, always a Mulchatian. We are and always will be the best
Soyul Kim, Mulchat House Captain 2024-2025
HOUSE COMPETITION NEWS
As the House Captain of Mulchat, I’m proud to announce that we took first place in this year’s intense House Shout competition. Our team, made up of students from Year 7 to Year 10, was led by the Year 10s who kept everyone focused and motivated Song and J Y were incredible in helping me prepare the shout during the busy annual assessments without their support, this victory wouldn’t have been possible. I played the drum to keep our rhythm strong, and we spent hours researching countless YouTube videos to make sure our shout was perfectly timed and powerful While other houses like Jeoji, Noro, Geomun, and Sarah put in effort, Mulchat’s preparation and energy clearly stood out. Our teamwork and dedication shone through, proving that Mulchat is not just a house but a force to be reckoned with This win shows what determination and strong leadership can achieveYohwan Kim
This year's Sports Day was a significant event, and I was pleased to contribute as a leader. The day truly demonstrated energy, spirit, and teamwork from all involved Watching students push themselves in competitive events was inspiring, while seeing others volunteer their time to help organise activities showed true house spirit.
The week leading up to Sports Day involved extensive preparation, from finalizing details to motivating house members to participate While the workload was intensive - especially with daily changes to event informationseeing everything come together and witnessing the joy made every moment of effort rewarding. These events consistently bring out the best in our house, creating lasting memories that extend far beyond the competition itself - Ellie L:ee

HOUSE COMPETITION FROM THE NEW LEADER’S VIEW
This year has been nothing short of extraordinary for Mulchat when it comes to competitions. From music and dance to sports and chants, we’ve truly poured our hearts into every event, and it’s paid off in the best possible ways.
Let’s start with one of our proudest achievements: winning House Ensemble for the third year in a row
From the first rehearsal to the day of the show, our performers demonstrated their musical ability, commitment, and dedication. Both the judges and the audience were impressed by the way the entire piece came together, thanks to the instrumentalists' relentless passion
We demonstrated once more that our house spirit is at its strongest during times of unity as we continued our victory with House Singing. Only after weeks of commitment and planning were sopranos, altos, tenors, and basses able to coordinate, many thanks to the year 11 leaders. Everyone clearly brought energy to the stage, despite the exhausting process
Another moment this year, quite recently, was our victory in the House Chant, led with infectious energy by Year 10s We took the lead with creativity and passion, creating a chant that was both powerful and memorable. The rest of the house joined in with high spirits and with loud voices.
Of course, competitions aren’t just about the wins House Commercial Dancing and Sports Day may not have ended as successfully as the other events for us, but they were filled with enthusiasm, effort, and most importantly, fun. During House Commercial Dancing, students stepped outside their comfort zones (including myself) to create something memorable From dance rehearsals to the final performance all full of energy, it was clear that the experience was about more than results
And on Sports Day, the spirit was higher than ever We cheered each other on, pushed our limits, and supported every runner, jumper, and thrower who represented our house. The teamwork on the field was a true reflection of what house spirit is all about.
This year has reminded us that house competitions are something more than just events Whether we were performing under the spotlight, cheering from the sidelines, or sprinting down the track, we did it together. And I believe that this is something house spirit is all about.
