NEW LONDON BARN PLAYHOUSE

ANNUAL REPORT 2024-2025

Years And Counting...

The New London Barn Playhouse is one of the oldest continuously operating theaters in the country. Housed in a historic converted barn, the theater features professional Broadway actors alongside emerging young artists in an intimate, air-conditioned setting with no seat more than 30 feet from the stage.

The 66th Annual Straw Hat Revue 2025 Acting Intern Company

Dear Barn Playhouse Friends and Supporters,

We are delighted to share the New London Barn Playhouse’s Annual Report for the 2024–2025 fiscal year, a season defined by artistry, connection, and community. This year, we celebrated remarkable milestones on and off the stage, continued meaningful collaborations, and welcomed record-breaking audiences who filled our historic barn with joy, laughter, and song.

A Season of Sold-Out Performances

The 2025 summer season was one for the record books. We were thrilled to see audiences return in full force and then some, with Hairspray selling at an extraordinary 99% capacity and Mary Poppins drawing generations of families to share the magic of our beloved Barn Playhouse. The sold-out Monday Night Concert Series became a highlight of the summer, showcasing incredible performances. We also introduced the next generation of theatre artists in furtherance of the core of our mission.

Collaboration and Innovation

Our partnerships continued to flourish this year, strengthening our artistic impact and expanding our reach. We were honored to collaborate once again with Symphony NH for a thrilling concert performance that blended Broadway excellence with orchestral brilliance. Our ongoing partnership with Transport Group, the acclaimed Off-Broadway company, also continued to grow through The NEST Initiative, supporting the development of new theatrical works. This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to nurturing bold new voices and ensuring that New London remains a place where new stories begin their journey to the wider theatrical world. Our education collaborations also deepened this year, including our popular 5th Grade Shakespeare program and a series of engaging winter activities that bring theatre, creativity, and collaboration into local classrooms and into our Fleming Center year-round.

A Vibrant, Engaged Community

The heartbeat of the Barn Playhouse has always been its people: artists, audiences, students, and supporters who come together to make something truly special. Whether it was watching our young artists grow, hearing laughter ring out from a full house, or seeing longtime subscribers greet one another on the porch before a show with a glass of wine in our courtyard, this year reminded us that the Barn Playhouse is more than a theater.

The Barn Playhouse is a gathering place where our community connects through the joy of live performance, and now, through our newly created year-round arts programming. This is made possible by the continued generosity of our donors and partners. This expanded programming allows us to keep our doors open in every season, fostering creativity, connection, and cultural opportunities across the region all year long.

Looking Ahead

As we look toward our 94th summer season, we do so with deep gratitude for you, our loyal patrons, donors, and volunteers, whose belief in our mission keeps the Barn Playhouse thriving. Your support makes it possible for us to produce world-class theater in the heart of the Lake Sunapee region while nurturing the next generation of theater artists.

Thank you for being part of our extraordinary journey. With your continued partnership, we are confident the seasons ahead will be filled with even more inspiration, collaboration, and shared joy “ on the porch” and beyond.

OUR MISSION

OUR VISION

To enrich and entertain our community with the highest quality theater created by talented emerging artists in collaboration with accomplished professionals; provide outstanding educational opportunities to all ages that promote an understanding and love of theater; and to preserve our theater district, encompassing one of the most cherished and historic summer stock playhouses.

To stage theatrical productions which engage, inspire and entertain- exceeding expectations in every way

To be valued as the regions’ leading source for the full spectrum of theatre education

To be sought out by artists and professionals seeking to build their theatrical careers

To be more than a place for entertainment- it belongs to all generations- the Barn Playhouse family

To invite patrons, artists, and young people to discover the magic of live theatre

To respect and embrace diversity in all that we say and do
