WELCOME LETTER

Welcome to the 15th Annual Breakfast! On behalf of the NKY Chamber’s Women’s Initiative, we are delighted to extend a warm welcome to our highly anticipated Women’s Initiative 15th Annual Breakfast. It is with great pleasure that we come together to celebrate another year of making lifelong connections, growing together and celebrating one another’s achievements. As we come together today, the importance of collaboration and support becomes even more pronounced. Dedicated to promoting the success of women from diverse backgrounds and industries, our organization takes pride in serving as a driving force for positive change and progress. Additionally, this breakfast provides a unique opportunity to network with like-minded individuals who share a passion for excellence and personal development. The strength of our NKY Chamber lies in the collective wisdom and support of its members. Today’s agenda is thoughtfully curated to inspire, educate, and engage. Throughout our program, we hope you feel motivated and ready to navigate your year both professionally and personally. The theme, “Unbridled Strength: Women in Motion,” reminds us that with each stride we redefine the narrative by overcoming obstacles and proving that strength knows no boundaries. So, keep moving, keep inspiring, and keep embodying the unbridled strength that defines you.

Prior to her time at Morgan Sports Law, Lazarus served as Chief of Business Development and Strategy at the FEI, where she led its commercial activities, including broadcast and news media, sponsorship, licensing and business development and prior to that as General Counsel where she restructured and implemented the FEI’s equine anti-doping program and oversaw all legal activities of the Federation. KEYNOTE SPEAKER Brothers began her career as a professional jockey in 1987 and retired in 1998 as the secondleading female jockey in the United States by money earned. She holds that title still, with a record 1,130 wins. After retiring, Brothers was by no means ready to call it quits from her beloved horses. In 1999, she ventured into television, providing coverage for several networks including TVG and several of the top tracks in the country. Over the years, she has covered everything from horse racing, show jumping, dressage, eventing, and bull riding, to other national and international level equestrian events for NBC and NBC Sports Network (NBCSN).

Since 2000, Brothers has been a sports analyst and commentator for the Breeder’s Cup Championships, World Equestrian Games, PBR World Championships, Kentucky Land Rover (Rolex) Three Day Event, the Triple Crown races and more, for NBC and NBCSN. To date, she has covered 21 consecutive Kentucky Derbies, including the historic victories that took place in 2015 when American Pharaoh won the Triple Crown for the first time in 37 years, followed three years later by Justify’s domination of the Triple Crown races in 2018. In 2014, Brothers was honored by Sport’s Illustrated Magazine, when she was awarded Best Sideline Reporter of the year. Brothers currently works as the Client Relations Manager for Starlight and StarLadies Racing. She is also involved in giving back to the community, supporting thoroughbred aftercare and backstretch resource services. She serves on the Executive Boards of the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance, the Brain Injury Alliance of Kentucky and the Thoroughbred Idea Foundation.

She bred and trained winning horses all over the country throughout her career.

Diane Crump In 1969, Diane became the first female jockey to ride in a pari-mutuel race, and the first female jockey to compete in the Kentucky Derby, finishing 15th aboard Fathom in 1970.
