Why Test For Fentanyl? Prohibition caused by the drug war has resulted in a dangerous and unsafe supply. Fentanyl now shows up in places we might not expect it to be, like stimulants or benzos. This is caused by criminalization and prohibition from the War on Drugs. It's up to us to look out for one another and keep each other safe. What can we do to use safer? There are some simple strategies compiled by people who use drugs over the years to keep our people safe. One of them is to use fentanyl test strips to test your bag, so that you can make the most educated decisions possible for yourself. See the back of this card for a few suggestions for safer use to prevent fatal overdoses, when testing your drugs isn't practical or possible.
use a test strip to test each new stamp or each new purchase, especially ones you don't expect to contain fentanyl. if that's not an option, assume there could be fent present & use these strategies, compiled by people who use drugs, to stay safer use less to start. the margin of try snorting or smoking error is much smaller with fent. instead of injecting. switching start small so you can find the ROA can reduce risk of best dose for you. overdose and other harms. go slow. fent acts fast, & using overdose is still possible, slowly gives your body time to though, so still start slow no adjust, time to see how the dose matter which route you use. will hit. use with a group or partner. if carry naloxone & know how to possible, stagger turns and use it. let friends know you have make sure you have naloxone naloxone/Narcan, and make sure and all know how to use it. they know how to use it too. We keep us safe. use extra caution if you're using alone. using alone means no one is there to respond if you fall out, so double down on other safety strategies, and try to arrange for someone you trust to check in on you.
