What is TOEFL?

TOEFL, the Test of English as a Foreign Language, measures a student’s ability to understand and use the English language at the university level. The Test also measures one’s ability to combine listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills. TOEFL is the most widely accepted Englishlanguage test and is used by more than 8,500 academic institutions.

Who takes the TOEFL? Students who are planning to enroll in a college or university, candidates for scholarships or certifications, and students and workers applying for visas may be required to take the test. The TOEFL is also available to English-language learners who want to track their progress on English proficiency.

Taking the TOEFL at NJCU NJCU serves as a TOEFL testing site for the Educational Testing Service (ETS). TOEFL is offered monthly at NJCU, except during the summer months, on dates determined by the ETS.
