Food insecurity refers to a person or household’s inability to access desired foods or to buy healthy, nourishing food. Even if food options and prices are growing in the India, many people still choose to eat what they can afford rather than what they desire. This frequently leads to bad diets, which can cause cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and obesity, as well as low levels of numerous vitamins and minerals. In wealthy nations today, obesity is just as indicative of poverty as hunger is in developing nations.

This explosion in demand has occurred at the same time as an increase in people requesting assistance after receiving a benefit sanction, unchanging incomes, increased living expenses, low pay, underemployment, and other welfare-related issues. Food banks are now more actively engaged in its original mission of fostering social inclusion and integration. But first, we must conceptualise the issues in order to progress toward a more useful set of solutions. With activities in fitness, arts and crafts, culture, and more, new food banks should help people get in shape, learn new skills, and make new friends. Take the initiative in promoting social inclusion.
