Thank you for your interest in training to teach with NEXUS Education Schools Trust (NEST), in partnership with The National Institute of Teaching and Education (NITE), part of the Coventry University Group. Our Trust

During your training period, you will be allocated to one of the schools within our trust NEST is a multi-academy trust comprising 19 primary schools across the boroughs of Bromley, Kent, Lewisham, and Southwark All of our schools are rated Good or Outstanding by Ofsted, providing an exceptional and distinctive learning community. Our schools are guided by strong values of collaboration, inclusion, and excellence, creating an environment where both pupils and trainee teachers can thrive When allocating school placements, we consider your location and which schools within our trustcan offer the best opportunities and support for trainee teachers

Placement Structure

During your training, you will complete placements in two different schools This approach is designed to give you experience in contrasting school environments, allowing you to:

See how different schools operate,

Gain insight into the type of school you might want to teach in, Develop as a well-rounded and adaptable teacher

NITE offer both full-time and part-time routes on this pathway Your school placements are structured differently depending on the route you choose. Below is a breakdown of how placements are organised for each route:

Full-time 1 year (5 days per week in school)

You will spend the majority of your training in one main school, allowing you to build strong relationships and gain consistent experience You will also complete a six-week second placement in another school, providing exposure to a different setting and additional teaching experiences

Parttime 2 years (25 days per week in school)

You will be placed in two schools during your training You will spend one year in each school, gaining valuable experience in different settings and developing a broad range of teaching skills

How You Will Learn

You will develop into an excellent teacher through a balance of practical experience in our schools and structured training with NITE

School-Based Learning Gain hands-on experience, putting teaching skills into practice in real classroom settings

UniversityLed Learning

Assignments

NITE are the accredited teacher training provider, who will deliver your teacher training All university-led training is online, so it fits around your time in school and eliminates the need for travel.

This approach ensures you learn both practical teaching skills and the theoretical knowledge needed to succeed as a teacher

Interview

Outcome

A member of the NEST team will contact you to schedule your interview This is a supportive conversation where we’ll get to know you and you can learn more about our schools and training programme

Following your interview, NEST will work with NITE to review your application and determine whether a place can be offered in one of our schools You’ll be informed of the outcome as soon as possible
