With a strong belief of “giving back to the country”, BR Life is a leading healthcare services brand owned by Dr. BR Shetty. Dr. Shetty is a staunch believer in the dictim “charity begins at home” and has a strong passion for serving the state of Karnataka.

It is trying to replicate this belief by making a 85 bed-

ded hospital in Varanasi at a place which earlier was used for a Vegetable Industry, now being redeveloped as an integrated township to serve the dense residential developments in the proximity.

The highlighted area is the structure that is being carried out in phase one.

The first image is the view from the road showing the OPD Block in front followed by Phase I & Phase II buildings respectively.

Mixed - Use developments have been around for a long time. Taking notice of having shops on the ground floor and residences above is a common sight for people on the streets of Mumbai. This has been the developer’s way of maximizing his land usage for years.

“Buildings decay when they are abandoned without use and their spirit dies when they are frozen in time as near meuseum pieces” - M. Forsyth The Sarpanch (The head of the village) of one of the

villages in Bihar plans to restore and strives hard so that the former statement does not be the case with a temple in their village.

First figure depicts the roof plan of the new proposal with site plan in backdrop and indicates the sections.

Second figure is the exploded view of the intervention with the existing temple (highlighted in yellow) and the new structures added to the existing temple for refurbishment.

According to several traditional beliefs, each house has its own energy type.

Once a person starts living in a house he/ she comes under the influence of a specific energy field. These energies start influencing him/ her in some way or the other.

This argument may not have many takers in earlier times, but still for those who believe, it is very important to have

homes that exude positive energy. Indian Vastu science has several remedies to ensure that the house remains blessed, without making any structural changes.

With the same belief, one of the family plans to build a beautiful and pleasing house named “Rama Niwas� in Bhopal.

They frame a dark walkway that connects the meuseum to the pavilion.

The theme of the brief was to document “ Heritage structurees who have kept their values intact while adapting to change”. Historic structures and their existence are a proof of their survival through testing times. These can be categorized as either tangible or intangibe. Tangible aspects such as structures of archeological / architectural

importance and intangible aspects such as natives having collective memories of particuar spaces.

Heritage is one such thing that tells the story of a region and distinguishes it from every other place. This can be in the form of buildings, streetscapes and even local cultures and tradition.

Kathputli Colony though thriving as a world renowned artists’ colony is an urban slum facing its fate just like any other squatter under the beautification drive of the government to make the city “Slum - Free“. It has been chosen as the first “In - Situ Rehabilitation slum“ in Delhi.

Despite having differences in culture & having challenging living conditions, people of the colony share something

which goes beyond just sharing the common walls.

The project aims to blur the line between beautification of the city & the community sentiment. It tries to explore the prospect of experiential tourism as opposed to observational tourism & tries to provide such spaces at every step so as to engage visitors & allow them to fully soak into the atmosphere.

Slums have long been & continue to be the ugly truth that cities continue to hide behind their so - called “development“. Envisioning the city to be “Slum - Free” by commissioning policies have ironically elevated their existence instead of alliveating them. The latest being the “In - Situ Rehabilitation” which envisions to integrate them into the urban fabric

A variety of topics were introduced but no general solu-
