Ningen Dock Explained

Ningen Dock Program: Inspired by ships at dock for maintenance, it offers comprehensive health assessments.

Preventive Medicine: Developed in Japan to identify health risks early, detect cancer and lifestyle diseases, and confirm overall health status.

Diagnostics: Includes blood tests, chest X-rays, ultrasound scans, and optional advanced diagnostics like endoscopy, CT scans, and MRIs.

Health Outcomes: This proactive approach leads to better health and longer life spans, a cornerstone of Japanese healthcare.

Ningen Dock Scope of Coverage

• Exclusively available to expatriate employees (Non-U.S. citizens temporarily working in the United States)

• Covers annual employer-required routine physical exams and eligible services in the U.S.

• Option to include spousal coverage

• In-network and out-of-network: 100% of covered services up to $2,000 annually, with no deductible or copay.

• $4,000 buy-up option for enhanced coverage

Ningen Dock Process

Members present their Ningen Dock ID card at their provider's office.

If the provider is in-network, no further action is needed is needed by the member.

Out-of-network providers may require upfront payment from the member, who can then submit a claim to NLB for reimbursement.

In-network and out-of-network: 100% of covered services up to $2,000 annually, with no deductible or copay.

Underwriting Guidelines for NLB Global

Policies must be sitused in:

• Company must be owned by a foreign parent* or a member of a controlled group (for example, a parent company owns at least 80% of the stock)

• NLB Global offers plan benefits and services to affiliated companies with 100+ employees worldwide*, including U.S. based local staff, global staff, Green Card holders and their families

• The benefits plan can be customized based on global staff’s needs

Proposal Requirements

Eligible Groups Corporations and partnerships where a clear employee-employer relationship exists.

Eligible Employees Full-time, typically working 30 hours per week as per state laws.

Effective Dates 1st of the month or the 15th of the month. The initial rate guarantee period is 12 months.

Evolution PPO plans, Value PPO plans, Evolution CDHP plans, and CDHP Value plans.

Target Market Scorecard (TMS)*

• Census should include all eligible employees, gender, date of birth, zip code, coverage tier, plan election, residential status (Expats, Green Cardholder, US Citizen), and waiver information

• Current and the renewal package if available

• Current carrier and how the case is rated

• Number of years with the current carrier

• Current plan design(s), benefit summaries, and SBCs

• Employer contribution percentage

• Monthly experience if available or required by state (claims, premium, number of lives, and individual large claims)

For qualifying cases, an employer may receive an additional discount based on the renewal increase and responses to the questions below.

*Not applicable for New York cases. Eligibility under the Nippon Life Insurance Company of America Foreign-Owned Medical benefit is limited to employer groups whose coverage qualifies as an expatriate health plan/expatriate policy, as defined by applicable law. Please note that additional eligibility requirements to participate in the program may apply. A copy of the renewal package is required to verify the renewal increase and rating with the current carrier increase. The Employer must meet the Large Group definition as defined by the State Insurance Department.
