The Case
Brian Newton and Joe Barr have been friends forever and served together as police officers for the City of Golden, Colorado. Brian always loved experimenting with food – desserts in particular – and worked in local area restaurants a lot of his early adult life. In recent years, he honed in on the art of the doughnut. Joe indulged in Brian’s creations and found them really tasty – all of em. Strangely enough their careers took them on an interesting journey. Because of the recent climate of being a part of the Blue, they both decided to team up, hang up the badge and go into the doughnut business. However, they haven’t forgotten their badges nor their brothers and sisters still in the field. So, not only are Brian and Joe opening up a little shoppe, but they also have the idea of a food truck.
Additionally, Golden is well known for its dog friendly culture and environment. Joe’s Pembroke Corgi, BOLO, is the company spokesdog and has his own line of “dognuts” for his canine companions to indulge in as well.
Created to Serve and Enjoy
Cops often have a tough time getting a lunch break or a snack. It’s rare to grab a bite to eat or even get a chance to go to the bathroom at times. Brian and Joe have the idea of a food truck that tours local area agencies and brings fresh and day-old doughnuts to those who serve for a fraction of the price. Their idea is to help out the force by not making them travel to get a bite to eat.
Plus, part of the shoppes proceeds go to support Police of Colorado (POCO) a Charity for BLUE, where families & officers can receive support for fallen officers and those hurt in the line of duty.
