VETS VetsFOREWORD Foreward Paragon Veterinary Group has provided veterinary services to Wormanby Holsteins for the last few years. Attention to detail is fantastic and the facilities at Wormanby are second to none. Sheds are modern, spacious and well ventilated with cows on deep sand beds and modern cubicles focusing on cow comfort and health. Calves and youngstock are reared in dedicated sheds with high attention to detail.

The team works hard to achieve a herd of high welfare, healthy productive animals. The herd is currently averaging 13,000kg at 3.9% BF and 3.2% Protein. Average SCC is 120,000 cells/ml. The herd is vaccinated against BVD, Lepto and twice yearly for IBR and all calves are BVD monitored with tag & test.

Routine fertility visits are carried out fortnightly with current calving interval at 400 days.

The quality of stock available for sale today is outstanding and I am certain they will be an addition to any herd.

CATALOGUE FOREWORD I had intended to travel to World Dairy Expo on the 27th September this year but due to the Covid travel restrictions that never happened. Instead, I found myself viewing the Wormanby herd in preparation for this special youngstock sale. What a great way to get over the disappointment of not being able to travel than viewing this special herd, in my opinion one of the best Holstein herds in Europe. Currently with 72 Excellent, 116 Very Goods of which 42 are Very Good milking heifers with just over 230 animals milking.

Winning the Premier Herd title in 2015 was a major highlight however the herd has improved since then and I would like to encourage you to take the time out of your busy schedule to view these outstanding animals. I haven’t viewed a herd with such high-quality udders, with so much width and strength in their frames and with such impressive feet and legs for many years. This is a modern herd and the heifers offered in this special sale are designed for the modern dairy farmer and breeder.

This herd is not just about looks they are super producers! Currently averaging 13102kgs 3.95% butterfat 3.15% protein at the last test they were averaging 43kgs. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. This old saying applies when you buy from the Wormanby herd. LOT 215 - WORMANBY CRUSH FLO. Her full sister sold for 4,500gns at last years sale and has been a major success in the Espland herd. Her dam is a special EX92 Atwood that is due soon with her fourth and displays potential for her classification to continue to increase. The third dam in the pedigree is Berryholme Posh Flo EX94.

LOT 230 - WORMANBY DISCJOCKEY BARBIE. Her Lambda sister sold for 5,600gns in last years sale and this is the best Discjockey we have offered at public auction. Grand dam is full sister to the 2019 World Dairy Expo Champion, Butz-Butler Gold Barbara EX96.

LOT 239 - WORMANBY CRUSHTIME ADEEN. This is a special heifer from an EX93 Mardi Gras that sold in the Black & White sale for 5,200gns next dam is Lavenham Adeen that was Grand Champion at the Great Yorkshire, Agriscot & UK Dairy Expo in 2012.

LOT 248 - WORMANBY HANIKO A MAHALA. This heifer is a head turner. Sired by Haniko from a VG87 Applicable followed by Wormanby Bottle Mahala EX95 who was the winning Production Cow at UK Dairy Expo in 2019.

Herd Health The milking herd is vaccinated for IBR, BVD & Lepto. The In-calf heifers and heifers are vaccinated for BVD & Lepto. All heifers born from 2019 onwards are BVD Tag Tested. The herd is tested each quarter for Johnes and is clear of the disease. The farm is situated in a four year TB testing area and there has never been a TB case within the herd, the last herd test was January 2020.
