General Information & Sale Notes LOCATION: The sale will be held in the Borderway Mart, Carlisle Cumbria. Motorists should leave the M6 at Junction 43 and follow CARLISLE signs. The Market is on the left hand side of the road within 1/4 mile of M6. VIEWING - The Sale Sheep will be available for viewing at Borderway Mart, Carlisle on Friday 19th November. Prior viewing of the sheep is most welcome, please contact vendors direct - see page 7. MYDDLE FLOCK
The Myddle flock was established in 2016 with the initial purchase of six in lamb ewes from the Frongoy flock. Right from the start a clear vision existed, to develop strong foundations on which a breeding flock of merit, could be built. Emphasis was placed on acquiring selected females from proven breeding lines. Breed character and strength throughout were priorities, whilst commercial traits were never compromised. Further additions came from the Burnview, Lakeview, Ballynacannon & Knockem flocks amongst others. Mainly mature ewes that had established progeny within these flocks. More recently gimmers purchased from Burnview, Shannagh & Castleisle have helped accelerate the progress of the flock. AI has been widely practised at Myddle, hence the 25,000gn Rhaeadr Rolex and Ballynacannon McGregor appear as sires of several of our sale lots. The 3,600gns reserve National champion Ballynacannon Bale was our first significant ram purchased. Closely followed by the 5,800gns Crewelands Dominator. We are delighted and honoured to be invited to present some of our stock for sale at “The Three Nations” so early in our flock’s development, and thank everybody involved for including us. We have achieved some notable private sales in the last couple of years and are not afraid to sell “a good one”, recognising that satisfied customers are our future! Solwaybank Rock Solid sold to the Salopian flock for 26,000gns is now the proud holder of the UK Sire of The Year Trophy with an average of 78,000gns for his top 3 sons. His record price son Salopian Solid Gold sold for an amazing 200,000gns at the Scottish National sale this year. Not to be outdone in the South of Ireland was Solwaybank Sapphire who sold for 5000gns to Aaron Myles and went on to sire the new record priced ram Ballinatone Show Stopper at 44000gns. All in all its been a fantastic year with the flock achieving the top price female at the Scottish Area sale which sold to the Crewelands flock for 3500gns.

Over the years females have been added from some of the leading flocks in the UK but the emphasis has always been on using home bred females. Stock rams that have left their mark in recent years are Birness Bollinger, Solwaybank Titan, Roundacre Real Deal, Limestone Legacy and Castleisle Cobra. Legacy left his mark breeding the 24,000 gns Pyeston Tophat in 2018. The following year he bred Pyeston Pumba (8,000 gns), Pyeston Valtra (6,000 gns) and our lead gimmer at the three nations selling for 8,000 gns. She went on to breed Howgillfoot Sniper who sold for 5,500 gns at Lanark last year. His daughters topped at 7,500 gns (pictured below) last year selling to Limestone.

OUR LUCKPENNY POLICY Selling your livestock isn’t always straightforward, so anything that can encourage buyers to purchase livestock from you is useful. This policy can help protect higher value breeding stock you sell from events such as accidents or disease. As a result of the changes we have seen in the market following the pandemic, NFU Mutual have adapted our Luckypenny policy to cover livestock sold online. Your NFU Mutual Agent is on hand to work closely with you to identify and manage these challenges. Please be aware that we may notify the relevant breed society before paying a claim under this policy. YOUR OBLIGATION TO BUYERS OF YOUR LIVESTOCK You must give a copy of this document to anyone who buys livestock from you that is covered by Luckpenny Insurance, so they are aware of the cover provided by the policy and any conditions.

• Death or slaughter on humane grounds of an insured animal within 3 months of ‘fall of hammer’ on the day of the sale, resulting from: - an accident - illness or disease • This includes the pregnancy and parturition risk for female livestock • The price paid for the insured animal, up to £150,000.
• Injury sustained, or illness or disease that first appears, before cover starts • Theft, straying and mysterious disappearance • The value of any semen or ova extracted from the animal for artificial insemination or embryo transfer • Money received if the buyer sells the deceased animal • Slaughter for economic reasons or because the animal is incapable of performing its intended function • Slaughter on the order of the authorities or under the rules of a disease eradication scheme.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION PAYING THE PREMIUM You can pay your premium by cash, bank transfer, cheque, and debit or credit card. WHEN DOES THE COVER START AND END? Your policy will run for 3 months, from the fall of the hammer or when the animal is delivered to the purchaser. The start and end date of your insurance cover will be stated in your policy schedule. In agreeing to take this policy, you’ve accepted its terms and conditions, and therefore cannot cancel the cover. GEOGRAPHICAL LIMITS This policy covers you in the UK, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or if temporarily removed to the Republic of Ireland, unless your policy documents say otherwise.
