General Information & Sale Notes LOCATION: The sale will be held in the Borderway Mart, Carlisle Cumbria. Motorists should leave the M6 at Junction 43 and follow CARLISLE signs. The Market is on the left hand side of the road within 1/4 mile of M6. VIEWING - The Sale Sheep will be available for viewing at Borderway Mart, Carlisle on Friday 18th November. Prior viewing of the sheep is most welcome, please contact vendors direct - see page 1. HOTELS - There are many hotels within the area, ranging from four star to excellent Bed and Breakfast accommodation, a list of which may be found in the catalogue. CONDITIONS OF SALE - The Pedigree and Description of each lots and all information as to service sire dates and health are believed to be correct. Amongst the service sires are some of the best and most exciting lambs on offer this year, with the senior Rams already proving their worth siring pens to achieve some of the top averages at the National sales this year and last. The Solwaybank flock was founded in 1991 with top females being purchased from the best flocks of the era. They included Cairness, Fordafourie, Fyvie, Glenisla, Greyhill, Kirkton and Muiresk. In 2012 the very successful Ewebank flock that was owned by Judith Barbour was amalgamated into the Solwaybank flock and everything is now run as one flock. Over the years purchases of many of the top rams have been made, these include the 62,000gns Cairness Castello, 32,000gns Cairness Carisma, 30,000gns Glenhead Grandmaster, 30,000gns Stockton Savannah, 28,000gns Strathisla Red McGregor and 21,000gns Bridgeview Prince of Wales and many,many more. The most influential ram used in the flock would be the 7500gn Glenisla Grimaldi that bred Solwaybank Ranger and JOD F16 the Great Yorkshire Show Interbreed Champion and Reserve Interbreed Champion at the Royal Show. Glenisla Grimaldi proved to be the perfect foil for our previous purchase Muiresk Powerpacker who was purchased for the then record price of 13,000gns as an aged ram. Following on from these great rams was always the challenge but when we bought the 62,000gns Cairness Castello we found one of the most consistent breeding rams ever and his females have been the perfect match for the 12,000gns Rhaeadr Rastafari who has bred the flocks two time Royal Highland Show Champion ewe Solwaybank Eva Jane and the 17,000gns Solwaybank Champion who was the 2013 National Sale Champion and sold to Thrunton and Widdrington flocks. He also sired the Carlisle Sale Champion 2015. In the last three years Solwaybank has had the 2013 Sire of the Year title with Solwaybank Skyfall and the Reserve Sire of the Year with his twin brother Solwaybank Poundstretcher in 2014. The highlights of 2016 include - Lakeview Harbingers first 3 sons sold to 13,000gns (Maestro Flock) 7500gns (Carragh Flock) and 3600gns (Specop Flock). The Pyeston flock was established in 2003 with the purchase of two gimmers from the Collessie flock. Over the years females have been added from some of the leading flocks in the UK but the emphasis has always been on using homebred females. Over the years many, rams have been purchased including Limestone Habana for 2800gns, he was one of the first sons of H18 the most influential ewe at Limestone to date. He left the backbone of our breeding flock. This was followed by Sitlow Samurai, a son of Cairness Carbon, again he provided some outstanding females. He won Champion stock ram in the Tayside flock competition in 2013 and Reserve Champion in both 2012 and 2015. Birness Bollinger sold to15,000gns and Roundacre Real Deal sold to 1800gns were purchased more recently and are the sires of our gimmers on offer. both Rams have left very good carcassed progeny. Real Deal proved to be an absolute bargain with his first crop of lambs achieving 3rd prize elite commercial lamb at Stirling, Champion ewe lambs in the 2015 Tayside flock competition and his best son, Pyeston Rossco, selling for 1200gns at Kelso. This year the lamb crop was predominantly sired by Solwaybank Titan, a much admired lamb at Stirling 2015. He bred Pyestons best lamb to date, Pyeston Phantom who was sold privately to the Sunnyhills flock for an undisclosed four figure sum. The Pyeston flock regularly competes in the Tayside flock competition, winning Overall Champion in 2015 and 2013, Reserve in 2012 and 2011. Winning the ewe lamb trophy in 2008, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2015. Also gaining the best stock ram trophy in 2013. Flock health status•

The Rhaeadr flock has 11 very well bred gimmers and 10 ewe lambs forward for sale, plus one young ram lamb. Seven of the gimmers are by Rookery Best of the Best and 4 by Ardlea Arbennig. The flock was established in 1979, in the past the flock has achieved many Champions and Interbreed Champions at County and Royal Shows. The Brijon flock was founded in 1984 with the aim to produce top commercial rams. The main goals in breeding have been to produce a big long Suffolk with a good square shoulder and well filled backend that has a short, tight wooled skin covering it. We have stayed away from excessive bone and coarse hair and concentrated on a longer leg with black silky hair which produce females that are easily lambed and produce plenty of milk. This consignment consists of 12 of the flocks best gimmers. We are offering a chance to purchase females of the highest quality. The Brijon flock concentrates on selling shearling rams at the Kelso Ram Sales where they have been in the top averages and prices year in year out. In the last 5 years the Brijon flock has topped the sale 4 times to a top of £4500 and selling 157 rams to average £892. This year saw the inaugural Suffolk Sheep Society Show and the Brijon Flock took the Championship with a shearling ram by Llwyn Welsh Border. The flock is MV accredited. The gimmers are on the Heptavac P system and have been vaccinated with Toxovax and Enzovax in June 2016 and Footvaxed in Sept 2016. All the gimmers are scrapie genotyped ARR/ARR. The maximum amount payable for any one animal insured under a Luckpenny policy is ÂŁ150,000. Claims involving any injury sustained or illness or disease first appearing before the start of cover will be excluded.

Slaughter for economic reasons or because the animal is incapable of performing the function for which it is kept is excluded. Slaughter under statute or the rules of an eradication scheme is excluded. Theft, straying and mysterious disappearance are not covered. Claim payments will be reduced by the value of semen or ova in store for AI or ET. The relevant Breed Society will be notified if a claim payment is made. Can I change my mind? This insurance has been arranged for the benefit of the purchasers of animals sold by or on behalf of the policyholder. The Law You and NFU Mutual are entitled to choose the law applicable to the insurance policy. NFU Mutual proposes to choose English Law as the law applicable to the insurance policy. The contract and the relationship between NFU Mutual and you shall be governed by, and interpreted in accordance with, English Law. Claims Handling Process If anything happens that may give rise to a claim, 1. if you are the policyholder, you must tell us as soon as possible, giving your name and policy number. If a claim is being made against you:  do not respond to any writ, letter, claim or other documentation  send any writ, letter, claim or other documentation to us without delay  do not admit, repudiate or negotiate any claim. 2. if you are the purchaser of an animal insured you must immediately: i) obtain veterinary assistance ii) inform NFU Mutual, by contacting your local NFU Mutual office (or the office that issued the policy, if you know it), quoting a) the date and place of purchase b) the vendors name (and policy number, if you know it) c) the lot number.
