General Information & Sale Notes LOCATION: The Sale will be held in the Borderway Mart, Carlisle, Cumbria, CA1 2RS. Motorists should leave the M6 at Junction 43 and follow CARLISLE signs. The market is on the left hand side of the road within 1/4 mile of M6. VIEWING: The Sale Cattle will be available for viewing at Borderway Mart, Carlisle on Thursday 6th July from 4pm - 7pm and morning of sale. HOTELS: There are many hotels within the area, ranging from four star to excellent Bed and Breakfast accommodation, a list of which may be found on page 4 of the catalogue. CONDITIONS OF SALE: The British Limousin Cattle Society have adopted the Auction Rules and Conditions of Sale drawn up by the N.B.A. This Sale is held subject to these rules and the Auctioneers’ General Conditions of Sale, both available on request. In the event of any discrepancy between the two sets of conditions, the N.B.A. Conditions of Sale shall prevail. INSURANCE: A representative of H&H Insurance Brokers Ltd, will be present at the sale and will be pleased to quote Purchasers for transit and other risks. Sale from the

Ronick Herd on behalf of R Dick

We would like to firstly start by thanking all our customers from over the years, both private and from our previous production sales. We are delighted to hear about and see so many of them doing well in both the show ring and in the progeny they are producing. The Ronick herd and prefix has featured greatly throughout the breed and also throughout the show circuit with many Ronick bred animals gaining top honours at all major shows throughout the UK and Ireland. The Ronick herd has produced many quality sires that have went on to breed with great success in the Limousin breed, some sires still leading the way many years later. However our main concentration over the years has really been to breed top quality females, hence with this in mind we have always selected our past and present herd sires from proven breeding female lines. This is our third sale, our last being in 2008, and is due to ever increasing numbers over the past 9 years, so we find it necessary to sell a selection of established and successful bloodlines. Our three show heifers from the summer whom we have high hopes for at the shows will be featured in the sale, alongside a wide choice of bloodlines relating back to many of our well known families, such as, Broadmeadows Ainsi, Ronick Danita and Janita. We have had a great influence on our herd over the recent years with our stock bulls. Rathconville Eugene, 17,000gns, has put his stamp on the females throughout the herd with daughters winning prestigious events such as the Red Ladies Sale where they have sold to a top of 20,000gns. Other daughters have won the Scottish Grand Prix and have helped the herd gain top honours in the Scottish Herd competition over the years. Calves by more recent stock bull purchases Ampertaine Jamboree, 45,000gns, and Lynderg James, 20,000gns, are looking promising and we hope will have the same impact on the herd. Health Status - The herd is in a 4-year TB testing area (last tested August 2016) and is a member of the SAC Premium Health Scheme, accredited for BVD with all mature cattle tested clear for Johnes Disease. We would like to thank our stockman Stewart Bett and Steph along with Stewarts wife Lynsey and all his helpers for their hard work and dedication in looking after and preparing the cattle. Reference to Main Herd Sires: AMPERTAINE JAMBOREE (MGD14- 9236) sire – Ampertaine Gigolo, dam – Ampertaine Fifi (by Wilodge Cerberus). Jamoboree was purchased as a stock bull in October 2015 for 45,000gns. He stood Reserve Overall Champion and is a son of the noted Ampertaine Gigolo. The first calves of Jamboree will be at the foot of some of the cows and they are looking to have a promising outcome. Jamboree has exceptional calving figures and has been used throughout the herd on a mixture of different sired cows and heifers. We are sure his calves will continue to thrive and be an exciting prospect in the future.

LYNDERG JAMES (LDG14-12420) sire – Lynderg Hero, dam – Lynderg Frances (by Balnacraig Randall. James was purchased in May 2016 for 20,000gns. He is sired by the noted show winner Lynderg Hero. Our calves from James are still very young, but they look to have everything you desire in a calf, style, width, character and ample muscling qualities. James will definitely be one to watch as his calves mature, we have no doubt they will be outstanding! Lynderg James RATHCONVILLE EUGENE (BTH09-024) sire – Rocky, dam – Ballinahinch Alexandria 9by Ardnacrusha Philip). Eugene was sold for 17,000gns and his progeny includes Ronick Honey, Red Ladies Champion and sold for 20,000gns Carlisle Dec 2013. Ronick Ivory 4,500gns Carlisle Weaned Calf Sale Dec 2013. Ronick Inspire 13,500gns Carlisle May 2014. Glenrock Justthejob 10,000gns 10,000gns Carlisle May 2016. Grahams Lilley 9,000gns and Ronick Legal 9,000gns Carlisle May 2017. Rathconville Eugene RONICK FANTASTIC (DY10-1803) sire – Haltcliffe Vermount, dam – Ronick Viveur by Bailea Olympia). Fantastic was retained as a stock bull after success at shows as a calf. He had a tremendous outlook and is leaving the herd with great females, plenty of size and power. Sired by the 100,000gns Haltcliffe Vermount, Fantastic lives up to his name.

STEPHICK HERO (DNO12-2196) sire – Ronick Gains, dam – Ronick Voici by Bailea Olympia). Hero was purchased from the Stephick herd due to his phenomenal pedigree. He is sired by Ronick Gains and out of Ronick Voici who is a Ronick Janita daughter. Hero leaves maternal traits, easy fleshing qualities and is an extremely easy calving bull also.

I would like to welcome you to the first production sale from the Stephick herd with this being an opportunity to gain the first Stephick females ever to be sold. In 2010, at just 16, I decided to venture into the Limousin world that my family have been so heavily involved in and start my own herd. Through family connections my foundation cow came from the Ronick herd, Ronick Voici, a daughter of the noted Ronick Janita. Voici has been the largest influence on my herd, followed by my other foundation females Sarkley Fabulous, Emslies Glamourpuss, Bastille and Caline. The Stephick herd runs alongside the Ronick herd, sharing stock bulls and using selective AI to try and produce top quality males and females. The Stephick herd won the Scottish Limousin Club small herd competition in 2016 and my policy so far has been a selective one, retaining only the best females for breeding in order to keep my small herd ever improving. Health Status - The herd is in a 4-year TB testing area (last tested August 2016) and is a member of the SAC Premium Health Scheme, accredited for BVD with all mature cattle tested clear for Johnes Disease. I’d like to thank all my previous bull customers and look forward to meeting my new future customers. I would also like to thank my family for helping me establish and maintain my herd. Welcome to the Rachels reduction sale of high health, high EBV herd of Limousin cattle. The sale has come about due to recently losing 25 acres of grass, also increasing work load and of course having to pay some bills!!! My parents first imported Limousins into the country in 1976-77 with performance and carcase characteristics at the centre of their breeding strategy. Over time as the market has changed so have the characteristics we’ve selected include ease of calving and milk coming to the forefront, whilst retaining growth and muscle, also temperament. This has determined the stock bulls we have chosen with the 21,000gns Procters General (NELBC Stock Bull 2016) bringing growth and frame; Rachels Dynamite providing huge amounts of milk and good teat placement in his females; Millington Fiat giving muscle confirmation and style coming from Culnagechan Executive. Herd health has always been an important factor. As the farm is in a ring fence in a predominantly arable area, the cattle having no nose to nose contact with any other animals. We are in Bio-Best, a Checs controlled health scheme with Johnnes risk level 1 (having never had a case), BVD accredited and the farm is in a TB4 testing area. The herd has consistently come in the top three of the NELBC herd competition (large herd) over at least the last 7 years and was a section winner in 2012. The cattle will be presented in stockman condition, I make no apologies for this as some of them are due to calve shortly before the sale and the stock’s welfare is my first priority. The cows which are in calf are to Millington Fiat who carries an EBV 45. He is an Objat son out of Brockhurst Option, Millington Grange’s most prolific cow. Her progeny includes Millington Highlight 50,000gns, Millington Devina 28,000gns and her progeny averaged over £11,300 at the Millington Dispersal Sale 2016. This is an unprecedented opportunity to purchase some high quality stock which in different circumstances I would be overjoyed to keep within my herd. I am offering a luck penny of 5 straws of Rachels Dynamite semen with each lot. Dynamite is proving to be a tremendous breeder of females with volumes of milk and muscle, and his females will be the cornerstone of my herd moving forward.
