Directions From the North: Travel South West on the M5 and exit at junction 7. Then take the third exit on the roundabout on to the A44, signposted Worcester and Evesham, within a mile take first exit on to the A4440, at the next round about continue on the A4440 by taking the second exit on the roundabout. At the next roundabout take the first exit to join the A38 signposted Tewkesbury. After five mile turn right on to the A4104, signposted Upton. Over the River bridge and turn right at the mini round about. After two and a half mile along that road Richaven Holsteins will be on your right.

From the South: Exit the M5 at junction 8 then at the roundabout take the first exit on to the M50. Leave the M50 at junction one and exit the roundabout at the second exit on to the A38. After three miles turn left on to the A4104, signposted Upton. Over the River bridge and turn right at the mini round about. After two and a half mile along that road Richaven Holsteins will be on your right.

Foreword “Seeing is believing” has been the Richaven slogan for many years and I would like to invite you to Northfield Farm to view this exceptional herd and grasp the opportunities that will be offered in this special sale, you really do need to see it to believe it! Since the Richaven herd was established almost 29 years ago the trophy cabinet at Northfield Farm has filled up with National Awards and highly valued achievements. The herd has been presented with two Master Breeder Shields in this short time frame as well as winning the Holstein UK’s Premier Herd title in 2009. Several Premier Breeder and Exhibitor titles have been won at both the National and UK Dairy Expo shows and the number of All Britain Nominations and All Britain winners are staggering. However in my opinion the Richaven herd is much more than awards and red rosettes its built on a foundation of exceptional and prolific cow families such as the Squaw, Adrienne, Mahala, Rebecca and Adeen and they all feature in this catalogue. Today dairy farmers talk about and strive to have a herd of wide chested, wide rumped cows with deep strong frames and super attractive udders and that’s exactly what you will find at Richaven. Currently the herd comprises, 88 milking animals of which 56 are milking in their first or second lactation. Milk production is impressive with the rolling average running at 10947kgs at 4.19% butterfat and 3.20% protein on two time milking with the herd grazing for six months of the year. The classifications on such a youthful herd are astounding with 27 Excellent cows and 56 Very Good milking heifers and second lactation cows, only 3 heifers are scored Good Plus and 2 third lactation cows remain Very Good but should be classified prior to the sale. This classy group of heifers and cows that will be sell on Saturday 9th July are simply the BEST to have ever been offered from Richaven. 6 cracking milking animals sell; 3 are classified Very Good as two year olds with 2 still to be scored, Lot 15 Richaven Byway Kay is a young cow with the X-Factor and one that we will be talking about for some time. She recently scored maximum points in her second lactation and will show as a three year old at the National in September. 12 of the yearlings are bred from Excellent dams and 10 are bred from a least three generations of dams that are classified Excellent. This Seeing is Believing Sale is a celebration of everything that Richaven stands for and what the entire Bown family are truly passionate about - Great cows. The last sale produced many great cows with the animals from that sale averaging Very Good 88! The quality from this exceptional group has phenomenal potential as is the superb depth of pedigree that they all descend from.
