BIO SECURITY RULES HARRISON & HETHERINGTON LIMITED, BORDERWAY MART, CARLISLE Notice to all Visitors and Traders Please read and observe the following: • Excessive dirty vehicles will not be allowed entry, therefore ensure vehicle is clean before arrival. • All vehicles transporting livestock will be subject to a documentation check before entry to market site. • All visitors and traders must ensure they wear clean clothing and footwear before entering market site. • All visitors and traders using car park areas please use main entrance. • Hauliers and farmers delivering livestock must disinfect their boots before and after loading or unloading. • Livestock purchased or unsold will not be allowed to move unless an authorised “pass slip” has been issued by the main office. • No livestock will be allowed to remain on the premises after a sale. • Only staff, livestock hauliers, owners or their agents are permitted to load or unload livestock. • Wash hands thoroughly when leaving pennage areas. • Please observe our staff’s instructions at all times. General Information & Sale Notes LOCATION: This sale will be held in the Borderway Mart, Carlisle Cumbria. Motorists should leave the M6 at Junction 43 and follow CARLISLE signs. The market is on the left hand side of the road within 1/4 mile of M6. ARRIVAL OF STOCK:

CONDITIONS OF SALE: Sold under the respective Breed Societies conditions of Sale and the Livestock Auctioneers Terms & Conditions of Sale. PRE-SALE INSPECTION: All sheep forward for the sale will be subject to a Society and Veterinary Inspection. Any animal which does not reach the Inspection standard will not be eligible for sale. The Inspection decision will be final and any animal failed will be removed from the sale and forfeit the entry fee. METHOD OF SALE: All sheep will be sold in guineas (105 pence) and strictly in catalogue order, unless any alteration is announced by the Auctioneers. COMMISSIONS: The auctioneers will dutifully execute commissions to purchase for buyers unable to attend the sale personally, upon receipt of written instructions. INSURANCE: A representative of Auctioneers Insurance Brokers will be present at the sale and will be pleased to quote purchasers for transit and other risks. SETTLEMENT AND CLEARANCE OF STOCK: Settlement in full is due immediately at the close of sale. No animal may leave the sale premises without an offical ‘pass slip’ obtainable only from the Auctioneers upon settlement. EXPORT TO NORTHERN IRELAND: As of 1 January 2021, the rules for exporting sheep from the United Kingdom to Northern Ireland and the European Union have changed for moving breeding stock to Northern Ireland – NO Direct Export or Vendor Returns will be available.

All Pedigree Sheep to be sold in guineas. Commission will be deducted at the rate of 5.5% on all pedigree sheep sold, together with a 2% Society Levy. Any animals in the Sale Premises which are sold by private treaty after the Auction are subject to the full commission on the price realised and all such transactions must be passed through the Auctioneers. There will be an Upset Price as follows: Shearling, Older Rams & Females 300gns; Ram Lambs 250gns; Ewe Lambs 200gns. All sheep will be identified with tags hung around their necks. Sheep will only be accepted into the market and penned for sale if they are accompanied by an Official MV Status Certificate which has been correctly completed. This Certificate must be handed in when the animal/s arrive at the market. All sheep will be subject to society inspection on Saturday 26th September between 7.00am and 8.00am. Any sheep being found unfit will be withdrawn from the sale. No sheep to be presented while suffering from any contagious disease. All sheep should be treated against scab. The vendor shall be responsible for the correctness of identity, and all sheep must have official ear tattoos and ministry tags. Buyers shall have one hour following the end of the sale to lodge any faults or misrepresentations to the Auctioneers. The purchaser must satisfy himself as to the soundness and correctness of his purchase within one hour of the conclusion of the sale. All sheep must be forward for penning between the following times:Friday 25th SEPTEMBER between 1pm – 6pm Saturday 26th SEPTEMBER between 7am and 8am Please note – A representative will be on duty to collect and inspect all Maedi Visna Certificates. The following minimum weights will apply:MALES Lambs 50kgs Shearlings 75kgs FEMALES Lambs 40kgs Any 2 shear or older female offered for sale must have had lamb(s) registered with the Society during the previous two years, and must be correct in the udder. All sheep to be sold in the appropriate class and in the owner’s flock group. The Classes will be: i) Ewes ii) Shearling Gimmers iii) Ewe Lambs iv) Shearling Rams v) Lamb Rams All Roussin Lambs offered for sale are not to be faked in any way by carding combs, shears etc. except to tidy up cheeks, square tails. All sheep offered for sale at one year old or older to be bare clipped after 1st April, thereafter the same rules as lambs apply. No artificial colouring or staining of fleeces other than that contained in a Wool Board Approved Dip. Faces and legs may not be artificially coloured in any way. The use of hair removing substances is strictly forbidden. All male sheep to have two correct testicles. No Rigs or Chasers to be shown or sold. The vendors are responsible for taking their sheep to the sale ring and returning them to the pens after being offered for sale. The Purchaser will not be entitled to a claim for consequential loss as a result of infertility or any other reason. Errors and Omissions. BLUE TEXEL General Information & Sale Notes LOCATION: This sale will be held in the Borderway Mart, Carlisle Cumbria. Motorists should leave the M6 at Junction 43 and follow CARLISLE signs. CONDITIONS OF SALE: The show and sale will be held subject to the Rules and Regulations of the Blue Texel Sheep Society, the Conditions of Sale as recommended by the LAA and the Auctioneers Standard Conditions of Sale. Customers should acquaint themselves with points 3.1 and 3.2 relating to ram warranties. (see page 7) A commission will be charged at 5.5% on all sheep. All sheep must have ear tags to comply with current ministry regulations. The vendor shall be responsible for all faults. The buyer has one hour after the end of the sale to complain. PRE-SALE INSPECTION: All sheep forward for the sale will be subject to a Society Inspection. Any animal which does not reach the Inspection standard will not be eligible for show or sale. The Inspection decision will be final and any animal failed will be removed from the sale and forfeit the entry fee. Any rejects must be removed immediately NUMBERING: ALL SHEEP MUST BE BACK STAMPED. PEDIGREE TRANSFER: A transfer fee of £5 (+VAT) per sheep is payable by the purchaser and paid to BTSS SOCIETY LEVY of 1% will be deducted from vendors account and paid to the BTSS. UPSET PRICE An upset price of 300gns is set for all sheep, ie, if no opening bid is received asforementioned, that lot will be passed out of the ring unsold. METHOD OF SALE: All sheep will be sold in guineas (105 pence) and strictly in catalogue order, unless any alteration is announced by the Auctioneers. COMMISSIONS: The auctioneers will dutifully execute commissions to purchase for buyers unable to attend the sale personally, upon receipt of written instructions. INSURANCE: A representative of Auctioneers Insurance Brokers will be present at the sale and will be pleased to quote purchasers for transit and other risks. SETTLEMENT AND CLEARANCE OF STOCK: Settlement in full is due immediately at the close of sale. No animal may leave the sale premises without an offical ‘pass slip’ obtainable only from the Auctioneers upon settlement. EXPORT TO NORTHERN IRELAND: As of 1 January 2021, the rules for exporting sheep from the United Kingdom to Northern Ireland and the European Union have changed for moving breeding stock to Northern Ireland – NO Direct Export or Vendor Returns will be available.
