General Information & Sale Notes LOCATION: The Sale will be held in the Borderway Mart, Carlisle, Cumbria. Motorists should leave the M6 at junction 43 and follow CARLISLE signs. The Market is on the left hand side of the road within 1/4 mile of M6. VIEWING - The Sale Sheep will be available for viewing at Borderway Mart, Carlisle on the morning of the sale, or Prior Inspection of the sheep is most welcome by appointment with the vendors (see page 1). CONDITIONS OF SALE - Sold under the conditions of sale as recommended by The Livestock Auctioneers' Association. METHOD OF SALE - All sheep will be sold in guineas (105 pence) and strictly in catalogue order, unless any alteration is announced by the Auctioneers. COMMISSIONS - The Auctioneers will dutifully execute commissions to purchase for buyers unable to attend and the sale personally,, upon receipt of written instructions. SETTLEMENT AND CLEARANCE OF STOCK - Settlement in full is due immediately at the close of Sale. Terminal Index Profitable slaughter lambs
The aim of EBVs are to allow buyers to see how much of an animal’s performance is due to its breeding (genetics) and how much has been influenced by the environment that they have been kept in – management, feeding, farm location, housing etc An animal will pass on half of its genetic merit to its offspring. e.g., if Ram A has a Scan Weight of +3.33 then his progeny at scanning will be over 1.5kg heavier than average CONDITIONS OF SALE

PRODUCTION SALE FROM THE KITROB FLOCK on behalf of DR & DP JONES LTD
RESERVE CHAMPION FLOCK OF WALES 2017 The Kitrob flock was started by my father in 1984 with the purchase of 4 ewes from Chelford by the late Tom Williams of the Ty Hir flock. Two of those foundation ewes family are still strong in the flock , and with little use of ET for 20 years proves how good those foundation ewes are, and it gives me great satisfaction that they are still strong as my father would have been proud that they are still prominent in the flock. The flock has been shown both nationally and locally, winning 8 interbreeds and well over 100 championships and reserve to date, mostly achieved by my father. The flock won Reserve Champion flock in Wales 2017. This year we did intend to show in a few events as we were impressed by our lamb crop, however Covid-19 put a stop to this. Sale Highlights This is our third production sale and since 2017, the flock has sold 80 females to average 750gns with a top price of 3200gns. Kitrob Kitty sold for 1550gns as a ewe lamb to the Scholars flock, the following year she won 1st prize RWAS as a shearling and went on to breed 40,000gn Scholars Twenty Twelve. The flock is performance recorded and the whole flock is just falling short of the top 25% average. The decision to hold a sale is a business decision to concentrate on more diversification , and we also have to many sheep ! With a bit of luck and the help from ET, numbers should grow back fast so that one day Tomos and Carla can continue what their grandfather started all those years ago. 388 FAMILY This family has been a foundation purchase from the Tomid flock in 1984. My father used to show every member of this family and won many championships, and many top sale prices for rams came from this family. We lost the great 388 this year, a consistent breeder , her ewe lamb in the first sale sold to 1,900gns and she has constantly sold ewes and rams over 1,000gns. VERY HIGH INDEX FAMILY AS WELL
487 FAMILY Another foundation family, purchased from the Lilleburne flock in 1984. This family has sold great carcase progeny, any many great shearlings, another good index family.

779 FAMILY This family arrived at Kitrob 23 years ago, when my father purchased a shearling ewe for 400gns Lanark from Crofthead flock. She won 2nd prize Shropshire and West Midlands, and has a tremendous head and carcase. JOK140779 (photo above) has bred very well for the flock producing the top price ewe lamb in our first sale for 3200gns to Lavenham. She has so far bred over 20,000gns worth of progeny, her full sister died but her daughter was one of the best ewe lambs from the 2017 flock. VERY HIGH INDEX FAMILY
TOPHILL FAMILY This family arrived from the Tophill flock in 2010. HPH091235, she was purchased to replace Kitrob Kitty which was sold to the Scholars flock. A really breedy family, with sons and daughters selling to well established big name flocks. This family has high index as well.

This family came here in 2011 when we purchased the entire Accar flock from Myfyr Evans, she goes back to Stockton ewe. This ewe is breeding well and the flocks best 2 ram lambs this year was out of her, she has 2 daughters in the sale and one is the best we have ever bred.

HALLRIGG COMET Hallrigg Comet, purchased second Carlisle Sale, we have some nice ewe lambs by him, what a good ram he was, skin and carcass, unfortunately we lost him.
DEVERONVALE WARRIOR Deveronvale Warrior sold for 19,000gns to Logie Durno, what a massive sheep he was and has bred very well. We will go back to using him again, and have very good daughters for sale by him.

USKVALE CAPTAIN BILLY Uskvale Captain Billy, purchased at Lanark for 13,000gns, then after my AI day he was sold to Glenside. Nice ewe lambs in sale by him, shame there was no shows this year, i'm sure he would have taken some beating.
KNOCK YARDSMAN Knock Yardsman was sold for 15,000gns to Garngour, Brackenridge and Mossknowe Flocks, needs no introduction. Sons sold to 40,000gns and many high priced males and females.

SPORTSMANS A STAR Sportsmans A Star needs no introduction, sold for 130,000gns to Glenside and Auldhouseburn, sons sold to 75,000gns, really good ewe lambs by him in sale.
SPORTSMAN’S TREMENDOUS Another ram that needs no introduction, sons have sold to over 6000gns, and has bred many high priced daughters. One of the best rams in the breed. As Peter Woof says, and he has been proven right, “His daughter always breeds“ and his son Eden Valley Wiz Kid has bred really well .I can honestly say he is the best ram we have ever used and he will be used again this year, his females in sale are tremendous just like his name!! Do not miss out on these ewe lambs they are something special.

Teiglum Dream Dragon, purchased privately. He was my pick of the Teiglum lambs this year for his style, length, skin, correctness and carcass, he is in the top 1% of the breed on index and is out of the famous Alabama Family, Dam is a really good ewe and the gdam needs no introduction as the dam of 40,000gns Alabama and 70,000gns Craftsman sold to Sportsmans, she has sold well over 150,000gns of progeny.

What a tank, he weighed 110kgs after taking him home,.This is the biggest lamb we have ever purchased with length and the biggest back end we have had on the farm.
