General Information & Sale Notes LOCATION: The Sale will be held in the Borderway Mart, Carlisle Cumbria. Motorists should leave the M6 at Junction 43 and follow CARLISLE signs. The Market is on the left hand side of the road within 1/4 mile of M6. VIEWING - The Sale Sheep will be available for viewing at Borderway Mart, Carlisle on the morning of the sale, or Prior Inspection of the sheep is most welcome by appointment with the vendors (see page 1). CONDITIONS OF SALE - Sold under the conditions of sale as recommended by The Livestock Auctioneers’ Association. METHOD OF SALE - All sheep will be sold in guineas (105 pence) and strictly in catalogue order, unless any alteration is announced by the Auctioneers. COMMISSIONS - The Auctioneers will dutifully execute commissions to purchase for buyers unable to attend the sale personally, upon receipt of written instructions. SETTLEMENT AND CLEARANCE OF STOCK - Settlement in full is due immediately at the close of Sale. No animal may leave the Sale Premises without an official ‘Pass Slip’, obtainable only from the Auctioneers upon settlement. MV ACCREDITED - The Kitrob Texel Flock is MV Accredited. SALE FROM THE
KITROB FLOCK 'Reserve Champion Flock, Wales 2017' The Kitrob flock was started in 1986 by my Father with 4 ewes from Chelford and we then purchased the outstanding Ty Hir Ripple who won many show championships and left the flock with outstanding foundation females. Numbers soon grew and by 1995 the flock was up to 100 ewes. Some very good rams have been used over the years including Halbeath Beathoven, llyfni Bwmba, Penpadrig King, Douganhill Northern Light, Hullhouse Northern Star to name only a few. Showing has been done both locally and nationally and the flock has won 8 Interbreed Championships and well over 100 Championships and Reserve Championships. In 2004 we reduced the flock to 40 ewes and started using AI which developed the flock forward in so many ways. We are not afraid to sell our best females and have done so over the years achieving the highest price in Ruthin in 2006 and 2007 selling females. We sold Kitrob Kitty To William McCaffrey in 2009 for 1550gns as a ewe lamb and the following year she won 1st prize RWAS and went on to breed Schollars Twenty Twelve that sold for £40,000. In 2011 we had the opportunity to purchase the entire Accar flock from Myfyr Evans and this has been a huge asset to our flock moving forward. In 2013 we held a major reduction sale at Ruthin selling 150 females and then that year we flushed 10 ewes and had 120 grade 1 embryos, since then we have been flushing ewes every year and the flock has developed very fast to such an extent we won Reserve Champion flock, Wales 2017. The Kitrob flock are also Signet Recorded and carry a high index score. Over the last 4 years we have used really good rams - Baltier Panther needs no introduction, Baltier Vampire who’s son sold for £30,000 and Carran Upper Class who’s daughters are really good and Sportsman’s Tremendous whose ewe lambs are very eye catching. I could go on about female lines all day, but the Tophill ewe we purchased to replace Kitrob Kitty has done a fantastic job, she is the best breeding sheep we have ever had. She also has a very high index score and all her daughters have as well The decision to hold a sale this year is a business decision, over the last few years we have diversified outside the farm to Holiday Cottages, renewable energy and rental property’s in Pwllheli and are planning more projects to expand and make sure the future will be good for our children. We are selling all the shearling ewes and all the best ewe lambs, we are only retaining older ewes and ewes unfit to sell, the ewes were sheared on the 10th of May. Reference to Sires Baltier Panther Panther needs no introduction, a famous ram within the breed , he has bred rams to 14,000gns and 12,000gns plus many more high price rams and females. He is also high index 421. He won Champion GYS 2010 and Reserve Champion in 2012. His daughters have high index and carcass score. Baltier Vampire Purchased jointly with the Llyfni flock for 4,000gns. He has bred sons to £30,000 and 4,500gns and ewe lambs to 2,200gns, and leave great carcase and skins on his progeny .
Carran Upper Class Purchased for 2,600gns , his daughters are consistent and have plenty of carcase and character , he has an index of 349 and has bred sons that have sold up to 1,500gns. Another one we should have shown, he is still in flock and will be used again this year
Sportsman’s Tremendous Another ram that needs no introduction, sons have sold up to over 6,000gns, and has bred many high price daughters. is one of the best rams in the breed. As Peter Woof says and he has been proven right, “His daughter always breeds “ and his son Eden Valley Wiz Kid has bred really well .I can honestly say he is the best ram we have ever used and he will be used again this year , his females in sale are tremendous just like his name !! do not miss out on these ewe lambs they are something special.

Reference to Dam The Tophill Ewe She was purchased to replace Kitrob Kitty and she has proven to be a superb replacement. It’s such a shame that we didn’t show her as she would have been a great show ewe. She has bred sons to 1,500gns and the only daughter sold so far was sold for 1,000gns. Her 5 daughters in the sale are all stars and well worth a look for any breeder , not only has she been the best breeding ewe in flock she has very high index 457, and all her progeny has as well , a combination of high index carcass and style and they all breed well.
