General Information & Sale Notes CONDITIONS OF SALE: This sale is held under the British Charolais Cattle Society’s Auction Sale Rules and subject to recommended Conditions of Sale of the National Beef Association (NBA). This sale is held subject to these rules and the Auctioneers’ General Conditions of Sale, both of which are available on request. In the event of any discrepancy between the two sets of conditions, the NBA Conditions of Sale shall prevail. ONLINE BIDDING FACILITY will be available for the Charolais Bull & Female Sales. INSURANCE: A representative of H & H Insurance Brokers, will be present at the sale and will be pleased to quote Purchasers for transit and other risks. METHOD OF SALE: All cattle will be sold in guineas (105 pence) and a commission of 5.25% will be charged on all sales. All lots will be sold strictly in catalogue order, unless any alteration is announced by the Auctioneers. COMMISSIONS: The Auctioneers will dutifully execute commissions to purchase for buyers unable to attend the sale personally, upon receipt of written instructions. REGISTRATIONS: All stock in the Sale are registered with the British Charolais Cattle Society. PEDIGREE TRANSFERS: Official Pedigree Transfers will be effected by the Auctioneers and the British Charolais Cattle Society as soon as possible after the Sale. Full pedigrees will be transferred free of charge to all members. SETTLEMENT AND CLEARANCE OF STOCK: Settlement in full is due immediately at the close of Sale. Harestone Charolais herd was established in 1985 by my father Neil, who was impressed by the performance of the breed. We have always aimed to breed cattle primarily to suit commercial producers - our main customers. We strive for thick, easy fleshing cattle with high growth rates. There are various ways in which to measure performance, but we have found actual facts and profit in your pocket hard to stray from. As producers of commercial cattle also, our aim is to produce suckled calves that can reach 400kg in as short a period as possible, on minimal costs. In this process - you can’t beat the Charolais. This is the first time we have put together a female sale, as our Charolais herd is now at a level where we are happy with the performance and willing to showcase our females. Our seven selected heifers have all been running with the bull and will be scanned pre-sale. We think we have forward females to suit all tastes and welcome breeders old and new for a look. His sire - I LOVE U - is a great breeding bull siring many of the best breeding bulls in France at the moment. His dam - EUROVISION - won the Paris Show. His 3dam is the noted MERVEILLE. OSCAR was bought privately in France and is shared with Elgin, Allanfauld and Corrie herds.

Service Details: In calf to French easy calving sire NESTOR. He is a son of FIRST. Harestone Prosecco is a potential show heifer, full of power and has a tremendous head. She would be a great herd starter, or a new bloodline for an existing herd. Southwillow Hal (sire) was purchased by Messers Simmers, Backmuir, Keith for 11,000gns at Carlisle where he won Senior Champion. He sired Strathisla Major, 2nd prize and sold for 12,000gns in Stirling. Hal is a very modern Charolais, long and clean through the middle. Harestone Fleur (dam) is a maternal sister to Harestone Uncle Sam sold for 20,000gns, Harestone Ronsard won the Royal Highland Show, he is a son of the famous French cow FATCHA who has bred so many stock bulls. Ronsard breeds tremendous cows, that are hard to beat.

Kinclune Google (sire) is an easy calving son of Maerdy Boom purchased privately from Jock Wilson for £10,000. Caylers Solomon was a bull we really admired and bred so well for Jock. Harestone Enya (dam) is a powerful Balmyle Addition cow who has bred bulls that we have sold in Stirling. Harestone Nanette, mother of Uncle Sam, is also in her pedigree.

Service Details: Served by HARESTONE OSCAR (FR4477093401), will be scanned prior to sale. Harestone Pussycatdoll is a full sister to Harestone Powerhouse, sold February in Stirling for 8000gns. She is a real breedy heifer with great character and a big muzzle. She has thickness throughout and a lovely shape. Blelack Fabulous (sire) needs no introduction. He has bred a very modern type that seem to be easy calving. Many of his sons have sold for well over 10,000gns, including Maerdy Newan 40,000gns purchased by Sportsmans and Harestone herds. Harestone Denise (dam) has been part of the herds flushing team for years. She breeds a real modern type of Charolais. Her father, Uruguy, was shared with the Elgin herd when purchased in France, where he was a calf champion at Bressuire. His females always seem to breed.

She is a very nice shape of a heifer with a good head and soft flesh. Harestone Jaquard (sire) won the Charolais section of the Royal Highland Show and was much admired, he went on to win the Champion of the world status. All his offspring have great temperaments. Jaquard’s sons have averaged over 10,000gns. Harestone Helene (dam) has been an unbelievable investment for Harestone. She is the mother of Nano, who is easy calving, and breeding well for us. Her two first sons we sold, realised 16,000gns and 10,000gns. She is the best polled cow I have seen.

She has great style and flashy presence, ideal for a flushing programme. I was lucky enough to see her sire, Major, in the flesh and he was a great bull. Whilst viewing UK herds, many of the best cows seem to have Major blood in their pedigree. Merveille (dam) is a well known French cow, what a power house!

Service Details: Served by HARESTONE OSCAR (FR4477093401), will be scanned prior to sale. Harestone Pasadena is very feminine, a long clean correct heifer and is going to grow into a big cow. Balthayock Minstrel (sire) won Overall Champion at Stirling and was purchased for 46,000gns. His first son was sold privately for £13,000 to Messrs Warnock, Dreva herd. He has some great females in his pedigree, including Balthayock Rosita. Harestone Lively (dam) is one of the biggest cows on the farm. Her sire, Allanfauld Gambler, was Champion when purchased with the Elrick herd at Carlisle. She also has Maerdy Neptune in her pedigree who bred exceptional females.
